99 years for a kg of heroin.
True true, quite iffy indeed
Lesson: don't kill, smuggle or talk trash about someone.

The C word is the mother of nightmares. One of my worst fears. Now 45 and hyper-alert when feeling even slightly unwell. I once had a persistent headache that lasted days. Panadol after Panadol didn't help and eventually I began to wonder if it might be a tumor or some kind of malignant mass pressing on a nerve. Propofan (paracetamol/codeine/caffeine) did finally relieve the pain. One GP found nothing on CT and suspected it could be psychosomatic. Found out eventually that it was tension headache from poor sleep posture. Bought special contoured pillows and felt better since then.

If financially well to do, positive travel history and have strong ties to Thailand, the chance of a refusal is low.
I have a friend in Cambodia working for Aeon with a salary of under 1k USD. He applied and to my and everyone's surprise was granted a visa. That was back in 2019. Then he applied for a Schengen visa to visit Paris and got it too. Strangely another friend was refused. He owns a phone shop and is far more affluent than the Aeon guy.

The million dollar/pound question is why didn't you have the presence of mind to renew the soon-to-expire passport well in advance in anticipation of processing and delivery delays.
Now that you're in this dilemma, best and safest (from an immigration standpoint) way forward would be to return to the UK and sort things out whilst there.

It's in their genes and is one of their innate traits. Excessive snooping can be toxic but I suppose it's also healthy as it helps keep the world order checked and balanced. Better than repressive regimes having the upper hand.

I have opened 2 bank accounts on visa exempt and was never required to buy insurance
Maybe you hansum man na.

Curious about this account with insurance offers. Do the bank officers blatantly put them on the table as an alternative or option if a work permit is not available? Or is it mentioned discreetly with fidgety hands and side glances to check if anybody else is within hearing distance?

My Kasikorn credit card is a secured card. The credit limit depends on and is backed by an interest-bearing fixed deposit account. The account acts as a collateral so effectively it is a glorified debit card. I have the Elite visa so getting an unsecured credit card is impossible.
I also have a credit card with ABA Bank in Cambodia. It is also a secured card.
My only "true" credit cards (with credit lines based on my credit score) are from a German bank.

They don't do that in your country, then? Is it illegal there?
Yes, I'm not familiar with Gaffer ("gawking) laws but it is absolutely not tolerated.

I let someone do all the hard work. I have just one life to live so I intend to live it to the fullest.

You better check your account. This is the kind of account loved by insider thieves. No activity for a long period of time, foreigner, hotel address, no debit card to check balance, overseas. All the ingredients are there for the Great Plunder. The usual MO is for someone inside to issue a debit card linked to the account, then withdraw to the last satang.
That's just a nightmare scenario. Money might still be on the account untouched and safe.

Immeasurably sad and tragic. No chance to have one last conversation with family back home. Dreams, career, relationships, professional and academic achievements shattered and ended within a matter of seconds.

I know there are restrictions for the exportation of THB in cash but does anyone know if similar restrictions exist for the reverse (importation of THB)? I'm asking because a friend of mine is selling me his baht and I intend to take it with me when I return to BKK next month. It's about 180k baht.

Proving historical sexual offences is always a herculean task for both the prosecution and the victims. If there's DNA or a video recording of the offence itself, a conviction is exponentially easier to achieve.
-
Gawking, taking photos, video clips of accident victims should be made a punishable offence. Very disturbing and disrespectful behavior.

I would go with Qatar if SQ or LH were fully booked. I'm an LH FFP member so I'm more biased towards Star Alliance carriers.

Wow! Chula seems to take dual pricing to extremes.
- Tuition and Academic Fee Two regular semesters: 25,500 baht (Thai)/79,500 baht (non-Thai).
- One summer session: 6,375 baht (Thai)/44,630 baht (non-Thai).

So are western universities. Nothing unfair about this dual pricing.

Surprised the BBC picked this up but this is good as Thai Police will be even more pressured to impose harsh penalties on the attacker who apparently has retained a lawyer and only offered 100k out of what will be an estimated 800k procedure. Interesting how in this article he says he really wants to go home now but previously he was saying he wanted to stay here, especially until he can get a visa for the lady he met here to come back to the UK with him.
I hope he is given all the justice and compensation he deserves and not extra grief arising from a case of defaming the Kingdom.

Traumatized staff reliving the horror. You can literally sense the trepidation etched on that woman's face even with her mask on.

How much should I expect to pay for my daughter university? (medical)
in Higher Education in Thailand

My post showed the cost of studying medicine at Chula:
https://cu-medi.md.chula.ac.th/faqs/#E
The THB amounts represent the tuition and program fees only. The student is also expected to have additional money for living expenses.
