Ok I'm still a bit lost, so according to these 2 posts just for the university it could cost between 15k and 604k?? (daughter is Thai btw)

    That's a HUGE difference.

My post showed the cost of studying medicine at Chula:

The THB amounts represent the tuition and program fees only. The student is also expected to have additional money for living expenses.

  2. The C word is the mother of nightmares. One of my worst fears. Now 45 and hyper-alert when feeling even slightly unwell. I once had a persistent headache that lasted days. Panadol after Panadol didn't help and eventually I began to wonder if it might be a tumor or some kind of malignant mass pressing on a nerve. Propofan (paracetamol/codeine/caffeine) did finally relieve the pain. One GP found nothing on CT and suspected it could be psychosomatic. Found out eventually that it was tension headache from poor sleep posture. Bought special contoured pillows and felt better since then.

  3. If financially well to do, positive travel history and have strong ties to Thailand, the chance of a refusal is low.

I have a friend in Cambodia working for Aeon with a salary of under 1k USD. He applied and to my and everyone's surprise was granted a visa. That was back in 2019. Then he applied for a Schengen visa to visit Paris and got it too. Strangely another friend was refused. He owns a phone shop and is far more affluent than the Aeon guy.

  4. Eeewww... canned isn't yummy and healthy at all. If fresh ones are not available, the next option should be the BOTTLED ones from France. Not sure if they are available at Villa market (Makro and Tesco definitely not) but I bought some when I was in Phnom Penh.

  5. My Kasikorn credit card is a secured card. The credit limit depends on and is backed by an interest-bearing fixed deposit account. The account acts as a collateral so effectively it is a glorified debit card. I have the Elite visa so getting an unsecured credit card is impossible.

I also have a credit card with ABA Bank in Cambodia. It is also a secured card.

My only "true" credit cards (with credit lines based on my credit score) are from a German bank.

  6. You better check your account. This is the kind of account loved by insider thieves. No activity for a long period of time, foreigner, hotel address, no debit card to check balance, overseas. All the ingredients are there for the Great Plunder. The usual MO is for someone inside to issue a debit card linked to the account, then withdraw to the last satang.

That's just a nightmare scenario. Money might still be on the account untouched and safe.
