  1. Given that the USD is weakening against most currencies, not a huge risk of credibility for the think-tank to make such a prediction!

Predictions on how the Baht fares against the EURO, GBP, YEN, would be far more incisive.

What with the baht "supposedly" strengthing I don't see anything (imported that is) getting any cheaper.

Yup, I see the term 'strengthening' as a definite mismomer, the baht has been hanging around 70/GBP during the dollar tumble and no 'strengthening' in site, same same for the other global currencies.

As others have stated, a no-brainer to predict the weakening of the USD and the subsequent ripples on the baht.

Yeah!! bad news for some. :o

  2. Not having driven either one yet, these vehicles seem to be very similar. However, the Vigo 4x4 (4-door) seems to be the best 'bang for the buck', as it appears more versitile. I am wanting to know if anybody has any thoughts on the difference in build quality between the two...interior comfort, ride comfort, appointments, degree of luxury, drivetrain, mileage, etc. We could even throw the (4-door) Pre-runner into the mix, as this one seems to be an even better value...if mud and snow are not part of your regular routine.

I would expect the Fortuner to ride a lot better because the pickup has leaf rear springs and front suspension designed for hauling heavy loads and the Fortuner does not. As far as the rest, it about tit for tat.

My Humble opinion go for the Vigo, no complaint from me of any of friends that own the Vigo or the Tiger. Most advise if you have an old Tiger trade it for the Vigo. Toyota build it tough.

  3. Ok, since I finished my contract April/May this year and my work permit expired I have been holidaying in Thailand and the region doeen doing some travel and whatever. I have been getting 30 day visa exempt stamps at the borders when I come in. I now have a new passport (old one full) which shows entry on visa exempt x 1 before October.

Since October, I have come in twice on visa exempt, and each time given 30 days and a '1' and '2' written above the stamps (first around 5 October - then around 3 November). 30 days was running out so went this time to Penang and applied for a 2 month tourist visa. No problems. Got it and came in yesterday and was stamped to 31 January.

So it seems possible to stay longer than 90 days on a combination of visa exempt stamps and tourist visas. This might answer some questions for many.

Got the Air Asia morning flight down, on time, landed bang on 10 am and used an agent to collect me. Went straight to agents office, filled in form, they got it in on time and I picked visa up next day. Stayed a few extra days and got the Air Asia afternoon flight out which was also on time.

No complaints and a nice stay in Georgetown and Batu Feringgi.

Hmmm!! lucky you. Will it work for others???? Over to others

  4. :D:o I was also chase by dogs on my motorbike, so I started to carry a rock or two. One day I went to the market to buy eggs, the vendor ask what the rocks were for, I said the dogs, he had the same problem, he suggested water bags. Gave it a try, only I didn't use water, something a little bit stronger :D :D not :D anymore
  5. :D:D:D Nice to see some clear THINKER in the cabinet, it's one of those law that would be next to impossible to enforce, it is almost impossible to enforce the under 18 law; Example: my Thai neighbor and I were talking about this law, he prove his point, not that he need to for me; he sent his 12 year old daughter to the near by 7/11 for three packs of Falling Rain and two big bottles of LEO, young lady back 10 mins, beer and falling rain in hand.

:D:D Cannot buy beer at Big C, Lotous, Marko, etc etc between 9am-11am(??) 2pm-5pm, for sure just step around the corner to mama and papa all you want no questions :D:o

    :D "enough said"

  6. As they "you get what you pay for" . Years (35 years to be exact) my old pal David got his Resident permit it cost around Bt2500(application) Bt35,000(??) if approve, we all laugh, and said to ourself (among ourself); what a waste David is about 10 cards short of a deck. :D:D:D:D Guess who is laughing now!! I like many many other have made many trips across that river, never use an agent; how each trip was alway diffrent. Each immigration officer seem to have a diffrent way of approaching the job. Some were great, lay back and zip me right thur, some were the Immigration OFFICER from HeL## :o:D:D
