I have seen stickers written in Thai on the back of cars that may be, say, green, that say: "This car is silver". Always wondered if this was part of some legal requirement.

" Rozzers anywhere always do when it's one of their own."
Sure they do in Thailand. Thats why the red bull boy is in gaol.
When someone is abroad they need the assistance of "authorities" higher up the food chain.
There are many rank and file police who are sickened that one of their own has not received justice.

Speaking of insidious addictions I blame TV for getting me addicted to TV with the negative effect that I spend far to much time perusing the good the bad and the ugly comments and threads which puts undue strain on the marital relations for the lack of slave labour jobs not being started let alone completed to the satisfaction of she who must be obeyed but the positive is I can now get through the muck without getting myself sin binned with monotonous regularity.
Oh and before I forget thanks for another of the more enjoyable literary highlights of the week.
Cheers.
Yes, I hear what you're saying about the addiction to the comments on TV. It's my job in a way to read them but some have taken their toll in recent weeks. My little kids keep me grounded!
Thanks for reading.

I was a smoker for 35 years and I managed to quit. Yes, I am 'The Worst'. What a God-Awful human being I am. I should be beaten in the street and shot like a rabid dog for having the nerve to stop.
Smoking is an addiction that does nothing good for anyone except for the corporate profiteers. Hey smokers! The truth is that a group of anchors (spelling, add a 'W') utilized a substance which is addictive in a product and for decades has been profiteering off weakness; yes, your weakness is a source of corporate profits. That okay with you?
On top of that, smokers smell. No, they reek. Further, they selfishly harm the environment around them through second-hand smoke and the odious habit of tossing their butts everywhere. Finally, they waste money for no gain, clog up hospitals, and die young causing grief for their families, friends and loved ones.
Smoking is vile, disgusting and stupid. Period.
Am I 'the Worst' for writing this? I do not give a Rats Ass what you think; I am proud to be a reformed smoker.
Smoking is a solvable problem. Man up, stop whining and deal with it.
Can't argue with any of that! I feel emboldened!!
Thanks for reading.

The majority of Thai are racist. Move on Thai, most of the civil world have / are..
I cannot tolerate racism because I was a victim of racism from Thais whilst in Thailand for 12 years, each and every day!
The overstay is illigal, but there is no need to mok the foreigner, which is very much a Thai thing and sums up the Thai, childish, mentally mind-set. They have no respect or honour.
Not all Thai are bad, there are those few that have a mature and forward thinking attirude, but sadly the majority do not. They bite and view the hand that feeds them with contempt.
Other governments should treat Thai the way inwhich Thai treat foreigners in respect of ownership, employment, visa, double stabdard pricing and so on..
Why do people continue to visit such a negative race of people, apart from those who have dependants there, whom I feel very sorry for.
There are much better places on this planet which allow a foreigner to be part of a fair community, not treated as an ALIEN, ATM or BANK by means of fraud and extortion on a never ending daily basis.
Thailand paradise!! What a joke...
The trouble with you is that you start your post with a nonsense. Who is going to read your points after that and believe they are reading something sensible or valid. Try a little more reason and less ranting.
Perhaps you need to get off your hobby-horse to take a long hard look in the mirror - do you see someone so bitter that they inspire animosity?

It's well documented and the results are readily available.
Albeit 2 years old.
The bottom line says..
(Don't want to bore anyone)
Conclusion The results from the chassis dynamometer analysis for four vehicle types show that HD-DV had the highest CO2 emission rate (an overall average of 1,198.8±93.1 g km-1), followed by LDD (268.4±21.1 g km-1), LDG (166.1±27.7 g km-1) and MC (42.5±6.1 g km-1).
This study considers emission of vehicles data from emission lab. Results from experiments conducted by a range of responses in terms of CO2 emissions of GHG for different fuel types.
NGV in particular shows high CO2 emissions, but ethanol in gasohol shows virtually no change in CO2 emissions.
The CO2 emission rates obtained in this study can be used as a basis for further studies on GHGs emission rates from various types of vehicles.
Vehicle test conditions were performed under a Bangkok driving cycle
MC is motor cycle.
Fuel usage overall in Thailand is 76% usage in HD vehicles and trucks, Passenger vehicles etc.
Some quick math says that bikes produce 25% to 30% of the emissions that large vehicles do.
And as said previously the large vehicles are around 76% of the total fuel consumption.
Suggests to me that bikes contribute less than one%.
Interesting.
But where is the bit that says 100 trucks - and 1% of their emissions - is equivalent to one million motorcycles as was claimed.
I wasn't doubting that trucks and such pollute much more than bikes, just the numbers.

I think that the best that recreational smokers and users of ganja can expect in Thailand for many years to come will be lower fines and perhaps almost zero attempt to enforce the law.
Don't hold your breath that the law will change any time soon, because it wont.

R E A D M Y L I P S,
Pollution in this country is NOT CAUSED by motorcycles!
It is caused by old, unregulated diesel trucks, lorries and buses.
One million Honda Waves going to and fro to work in BKK everyday do not emit 1% of the emissions and pollutants that 100 old buses and trucks do.
Jesus.
End of.
Hi there.
Do you have a link to substantiate your 1% claim. Is it Jesus?
Thanks.

It's a good thing to have the bans and a good thing that tourists are being warned.
So many TVF members are in denial about this and mentioning air pollution is not relevant to the arguments about banning cigarette smoke. It's a diversion from those in denial.

Thailand could learn from Europe . If you say you are a refugee you don't need anything at all to enter Europe. They even bring you there by ship and give you free accommodation, food, money, health care, education and... And if you find out that you don't like it they will fly you back home for free. ????
Beggar's belief.
Not mine.

Why do you say that? Do you have personal involvement in the drugs trade or with cartels?
Why do you have antipathy towards Jehovah's Witnesses?

sorry it was quantitative easing in 2008 same thing as devaluation but a lot catchier
Cobblers?
No quantitative easing is not same as currency devaluation . QE is a monetary policy used by central banks in which the banks purchase government securities or other securities in order to increase the money supply and lower the interest rate.
Let google be your friend before you are rude to people in online forums.

That is only because ever since, all currencies were floating, so no more possibility to devalue or revalue them.
I beg to differ.
Ever since the abandonment of the gold standard currencies have floated against each other and there have been devaluations usually to the detriment of those doing them.
