Mass tourism is a complete enviromental disaster for the natural beauty of the island. It's such a great place that it needs quality tourists, if could just build up some infrustructure, cut out the scams, etc
Phuket is the epicentre of the south... attracting millions of tourists and billions of baht... forget infrastructure, safety, and sustainability, the only thing important to TAT and the government are rising tourist numbers to say we are on the road to economic recovery..

Since the warrant, Wuttichai had been evading capture, frequently changing jobs. His luck ran out when he posted a provocative message on Facebook, mocking the police’s inability to catch him. In his post, Wuttichai dared the police, claiming no authority could apprehend him. He even disclosed his location, boasting about his evasion skills.
“Which cop dares to arrest someone like me? I’ve been wanted since 2007. No cop is brave enough. I’m in Ta Khun; come if you can.”

"If the government proceeds to criminalise cannabis and hemp to suppress misuse, manufacturers and investors of these products could stand to lose over 10 billion baht of investment," stated Tossaporn Nilkamhang, the association's president. "Furthermore, it threatens to shake investors' confidence in government-led future projects."

The Buddhist faith requires renunciation.. the giving up of all material goods, and working for money.

The map shown above is interesting.
Path (1) - ship to rail to ship ie loading & unloading & reloading - makes little sense.
But Paths (2) & (3) could work: Either rail to ship & on, or ship to rail & on. But you probably don't need a land bridge for that, just a decent port on the Andaman Sea with good rail connection to the north.
Agreed, a good high speed freight railway from the north and east heading towards west coast would be much better and cheaper.

You could well be right, maybe his continual meddling in politics, talking with Hun Sen, chats with Myanmar generals etc is upsetting some influential people.
