  1. People who signed up for Moderna are waiting all over the country for their first shots. The Thai government is just going to have to accept the fact that people do not want the Chinese vaccines. They made a huge mistake not ordering Pfizer and Moderna from the beginning.
  2. Israel is just getting over a very large surge and Singapore is currently right in the middle of a very large surge in cases. Both countries have very high vaccination rates and both countries have had very large surges. It is happening in a lot of places. Nearly all of the European countries are now experiencing very large surges. They have high vaccination rates also. Oddly, India is not experiencing any surges after the last one ended months ago and they still have very low vaccination rates. The big plus is even though cases are up, deaths are down. You sir, are the one that needs to check your facts. You were correct months ago but not today.
  3. All of these problems could be avoided if Thailand would just allow Permanent Residence and/or Citizenship. All of these silly made up visa classifications and requirements just makes it confusing and difficult for everybody. Treating retired people like tourists is just plain silly and unnecessary.
  4. I find these comments hilarious. A lot of you come to retire or live in Thailand complaining about the nanny state back home as one reason for wanting to live here in Thailand but just looking at most of these comments regarding this type of stuff I can see how the nanny state came to be. It's like all of the pinheads in the U.S. complaining about things THAT THEY VOTE FOR!!!!! Maybe the comment I quoted was in jest but this is the type of thinking that got us the Nazis and if you think not, you need to watch, "The Third Wave", it shows how this happens.
  5. Sure but where I grew up in California in the U.S. it used to reach 100 degrees F every year during the summer, now it barely reaches the low 90's and only for a very short period of time. Localized weather is not climate change. Just because the overall temperature goes up does not mean it gets uniformly hotter everywhere. Thailand, as an example, could get cooler.
  6. Actually China passed the U.S. already and is pulling away.
  7. Actually the terminology is anthropogenic climate change, smart ass.
  8. Please stop lying. They are not even close to 60 degrees Celsius, even for one day. What is the hottest temperature in Middle East? On June 22, the Kuwaiti city of Nuwaiseeb recorded the highest temperature in the world so far this year at 53.2C (127.7F). In neighbouring Iraq, temperatures reached 51.6C (124.8F) on July 1, 2021, with Omidiyeh, Iran, not far behind with a maximum temperature of 51C (123.8F) recorded so far.
  9. Not sure where you went but things are all good everywhere I've gone. Your fearmongering is comical.
  10. That seems to be more like what the pictures and videos are showing. More than nobody but far away from normal. Which is good, it was normally a zoo.
  11. If Thailand cares about their countries well being at all they will not allow tourism to recover to previous levels. A once beautiful country is now pretty much destroyed and it is entirely possible that the natural ecosystem of Thailand has already passed the point of no return and cannot recover.
  12. If you are a foreigner all bets are off, you should do as little as is possible if you have an intruder. If you are forced to do something and the intruder is hurt or dies, you will probably end up in prison for a while. Criminal justice in Thailand is so corrupt and unpredictable I would highly recommend no foreigner ever take any chances where you end up in the criminal justice system in Thailand. Talking tough is all well and good and being tough enough to handle prison here is possible but who the hell wants to spend even one day in these garbage dumps they call prisons in Thailand. No, best to just do as little as possible and don't get involved in anything that could get you put into the criminal justice system in Thailand. Any 3rd world country for that matter. Actually any country.
  13. Not true. The polio vaccine, when given the original dose and a booster does provide sterilizing protection for 3 to 5 years and if given a second booster provides sterilizing immunity for an unknown amount of time. Just had this discussion on another discussion board. The mRNA vaccines ARE leaky, which is unfortunate, but provides more than enough protection to, along with all of the other medicines was have discovered, mostly end this pandemic. Not sure why people seem to get so defensive when someone else says the mRNA vaccines aren't perfect. They are more than good enough for the purposes intended but they could definitely be better and it's unfortunate that they aren't because then we could beat this virus quicker.
  14. 90% of the world??? That's unlikely to happen. The vast majority of people who get covid, vaccinated or not, do not end up in the hospital or dying. This virus is not nearly as deadly as a lot of you are implying. You are probably correct that everybody will get covid, so it is best to get vaccinated. Turns highly unlikely hospitalization or death into basically not going to happen.
  15. Nonsense, asking someone in a poll about a possible civil war and that same person actually participating in a civil war are 2 completely different things. If you asked a follow up question, like, "would you be willing to take up arms if a civil war started?". Nearly everybody who answers affirmative would be lying. The average American couldn't complete basic training for the military let alone participate in a shooting war. I find this civil war talk laughable. Me: "Hey Ben, you going to go fight in the civil war today?" Co-worker Ben: "Nahhh, can't today, I got meetings and some projects due this week." Me: "But this is important, for the future of America." Co-worker Ben: "I got bills to pay, dude. I can't afford to get fired."
  16. Each state has 2 Senators because they represent the state and in a Republic of States each state gets equal representation. The House is for the people so it is more dependent on the number of people in your state. Every American should know this but most don't seem to understand the basics of our government or become willfully ignorant to be argumentative. The most ridiculous thing I always hear is how undemocratic the system is in America, well, we're not a democracy so why would things be democratic? It is not surprising why we end up with such horrible representation in America, it is because nearly everyone who votes in America has no clue what is going on nor do they have any idea how the government actually is supposed to work. With regards to this topic, we are much further away from any civil war happening then you would think watching the media. The media attaches itself to the extremes and tries to make it look like the extremists are normal when that is no where near the truth. It is not surprising that people who are not in the U.S.A. would think a civil war is brewing but quite frankly, there is not much going on here to that end. 80% of the country gets along just fine. It's the 10% on the extreme ends of the political spectrum who are messing things up but they do not have the support to start a civil war. They also do not have the courage to wage a war as they are mostly a bunch of cowards you see on TV hitting people who aren't looking, hitting people who are old and/or defenseless, damaging property, burning garbage, breaking windows and all manner of cowardly acts. These are not the type of people to be afraid of. The biggest issue for Americans abroad is the pinheads in charge jacking up the economy and ruining the exchange rate or bombing the wrong group of people and getting some innocent Americans living abroad killed by some extremist group. Other than that, it is pretty good to be an American abroad. To remain happy, ignore news from back home, it's all exaggerations and lies anyways.
  17. Actually in the U.S. there are already some areas mandating vaccines for children, California just mandated vaccines for all eligible school age children. I would guess that is going to be fairly common worldwide. It appears the powers that be are 100% committed to these vaccines so we'll have to hope there are no long term side effects because if there are we could be in big trouble in the future although the chances of this are pretty slim. You are right to be concerned, I am just surprised at the high number of folks who are just going forward like it's 100% safe, which it is not and you are taking a risk of any future issues that may crop up. If you believe in science and understand science you should at least be concerned.
  18. I got the vaccine and have no problems with vaccines but this argument always strikes me as a silly comparison. If you choose to take the vaccine you are 100% taking the risk of any side effects from the vaccine. Though rare you are still risking it 100%. If you choose to not take the vaccine, your chances of getting Covid, especially in Thailand who has very few cases, is very low, beyond that your chances of getting severe symptoms from Covid, if you happen by some deliverance of back luck, are extremely low, even lower for a child and finally your chances of dying from Covid after all of the previous bad luck you just experienced, is extremely low and almost non-existent if you are a healthy young person. For myself, a 54 year old mostly healthy person, I chose to get the vaccine but that decision process is NOT the same for everybody. The decision for children is a tough one because they are highly unlikely to have problems from Covid (even during this pandemic there are a bunch of other causes of death far more likely to kill your child than Covid) but in this case Thailand is making it nearly impossible for you to refuse, unless home schooling is available, which I don't believe it is.
  19. I ended up in the hospital for a week. Almost died. Still recovering 5 months later from an extensive heart procedure. I was, unfortunately, one of the few who should not have taken the vaccine. I would still highly recommend that most people get the vaccine. Forgot to add I got the Pfizer vaccine and it was the first shot that did it.
  20. The biggest problem with this study is that the vast majority of folks are not wearing proper surgical masks. I bought some nice medical grade 5 layer surgical masks and they are nothing like the masks I see nearly everyone else wearing and masks I used to wear. Most masks for sale out there are garbage. Not to mention that most people are not wearing the masks correctly.
  21. The world isn't watching and couldn't care less. If you polled the world about Thailands problems about 1.1% of the people will have heard anything at all about Thailand.
