Thai-ing up the rain: Bangkok braces for a downpour of showers
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Interesting headline. I always thought there's quite a big difference from a downpour and a rain shower. Of course I might be wrong. Drizzle/Light showers/Moderate showers/Heavy showers/Light rain/moderate rain/Heavy rain/Downpour/Torrential rain. Just a thought. -
Bus Companies Lament Over Suspension of School Field Trips
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Agree but as a result of the governments actions these too are part of the no school trips allowed. I might be wrong but doesn't the government directive mean all buses not just the LNG gas ones? If so are they going to carry out inspections on all buses? The answer to this is no. As it stands >200 LNG fueled buses need to be checked daily for the nxt 60 days. Will they also check brakes, steering, tires etc. of these buses? Fair chance as I'm typing this some of the dodgy LNG converted buses are rather rapidly being converted back. -
Bus Companies Lament Over Suspension of School Field Trips
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The correct approach is not to allow it in the first place. This is just the usual reactionary process that will lead to very few changes. I have empathy, buckets of it but I've also lived here for over 20 years and seen how things happen. As for checking the fleet as I stated elsewhere this will mean over 200 buses checked per day and this is only the gas conversions. What about all the diesel buses? All in 60 days? -

New opposition leader takes the helm after party collapse
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
So is this an AI generated headline or what? Needs to be changed. Being dissolved after winning the election by a landslide by a corrupt judicial system put in place to protect the status quo/wealth and power of the establishment IS NOT a collapse of a political party. It's state sponsored corruption of any semblance of the democratic process to deny a political party opposed to the minority royalist military establishment and supported by the majority of voters who want change. NOT A COLLAPSE. -
Thai Embassy in Israel on High Alert Amid Rising Tensions
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thai Embassy in Israel on High Alert Amid Rising Tensions Mmmmm? Rising tensions? War perhaps? The pager and walkie talkie self carried explosive was a touch of brilliance. Scary. Don't buy Chinese phones. -
Your last two words assumes it's going to happen. As I said it's just knee jerk reaction and the 5 points of action are just ridiculous (see above post). Sounds good but that's what sound bites and knee jerk reactions are all about. I initially stated that fk all will change and I stand by that but I hope I'm wrong.

Sorry but your comment has a fatal flaw and here it is...."why did it take the death of all these children for it to happen?" I understand you're sentiment but do you think anything significant will happen to change the situation? IMHO this is just more knee jerk hot air reactionary BS to fool people into thinking they're doing something.

Save The Children Urges Action on Child Road Deaths in Thailand
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
As I said TIT. -
1: How? Who with? That's 223 buses per day. 2: Raise the standards? You can wrap a turd in a rose but it's still going to be a turd. 3: 500 trips happening next Tuesday (just an example) each starting at 5:00 am. All buses will need to be thoroughly inspected before the journey. How? Who's going to do it? 4: How? Who will conduct the training and who will pay for it? What defines emergency response? 5: This is a seatbelt.

Save The Children Urges Action on Child Road Deaths in Thailand
dinsdale replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not everyone here can afford cars. Chances are that if this lot were involved in a crash the outcome wouldn't be rosy and the chances also are that the crash was caused by an idiot in a car. Makes me cringe when I see this sort of thing. Toddlers standing up between the rider and the pillion. Ah! It's horrifying but it's also daily life in TIT. -
Paetongtarn Shinawatra Named in TIME-100 Next Influential List

Field trips don’t hurt students, poorly-maintained transport does : PM
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Maybe or maybe it was just a cheap option. The school is a Wat school so down the bottom of the pile. -
Field trips don’t hurt students, poorly-maintained transport does : PM
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
No it won't. It won't make the families whose children die on the roads everyday feel much better either. What's the solution? Do you have one? Everyday I see clapped out old buses transporting kids on school excursions. The fact is that so much of the bus rolling stock here is old and poorly maintained. These buses are cheaper to hire and directors of schools will more than likely go for the cheapest option. -
Field trips don’t hurt students, poorly-maintained transport does : PM
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
There are kids on buses going for excursions almost every day of the school year all across Thailand. This incident which yes is a tragedy and yes poor maintenance probably played a part doesn't detract from the fact that this is an isolated incident. As for going to school being "fraught with danger" tell me it's not the case that just getting to and from school isn't dangerous in and of itself. I will bet my bottom dollar baht that more kids have died going to or from school (more than likely on a motorcycle and helmetless) than have died in bus crashes/fires whilst on school excursions. -
Thailand’s Bold Move: Decriminalising Sex Work Sparks National Debate

You don't get out much do you. Russian sex workers have been in Pattaya for a very long time time as have African sex workers in Bangkok. -
Field trips don’t hurt students, poorly-maintained transport does : PM
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I'm sorry but this is a ridiculous and tasteless comment. School excursions are a legitimate part of education. This one ended in tragedy. -
Field trips don’t hurt students, poorly-maintained transport does : PM
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Nothing will be done. People here ride motorcycles without helmets. They do this whilst speeding past the BIB. As for the headline well that's just ridiculous. Field trips are of course an important part of education but the truth is what actually hurts the students is the educational system (public) itself. What's happened is an absolute tragedy no doubt about it, and you'd have to be one cold hearted MF not to be touched by it, but in a country where corruption is endemic it doesn't come as a surprise.- 83 replies

From idol to outcast: Thaksin devotee switches allegiances
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Complete rubbish. They were true supporters until Thaksin jumped into bed with the enemy; the "military dinosaurs." He sold out and he sold out big time. A complete and and utter self-serving rshole who disregarded his supporter base and did what he said he'd never do. PTP are finished and this will be evidenced at the next election if the "military dinosaurs" don't step in before that with their tanks. -

This woman is a microcosm of a plethora of PTP supporters who will not forget that Thaksin is a self-serving traitor of their support. PTP will pay dearly at the next election for his treacherous move of jumping into bed with the enemy. -
Thai Court Orders Extradition of Vietnamese Activist Amid Rights Fears
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I think you need to re-think your post. Thais who stand up against the establishment are very much the opposite of safe. Section 112 and being disappeared springs to mind. p.s. IMHO no image is better than a sht AI image as per this article. -
Thai Parliament Set to Decide on Controversial Liquor Bill Today

Thai Parliament Set to Decide on Controversial Liquor Bill Today
dinsdale replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thailand might "controversially" leap into the 21st Century. Well I don't think this is a good idea. Progression should be quelled by all corrupt means possible. Does this bill also cover the absolutely anachronistic prohibition of sales of alcohol midnight to eleven in the morning and two to five in the afternoon. I hope not. This would be a very bad idea. Imagine the turmoil if one could actually go to the supermarket at 10:30 am or 2:30 pm and purchase alcohol. It's obviously a serious health issue and possibly a threat to national security.- 31 replies

Used car market in a jam as electric vehicles spark trouble

An interesting comment. It would seem that the international market may not be in agreement with you. ICE hybrids seem to be very popular. -

A brain a little less developed than a teenager IMHO. Bit like people losing it like a baby having a tantrum and shooting someone else dead.
