  1. game for shame

China airlines are one of the best but:-

Are you too modest to tell us the price offered?

One problem is the link between AMS and UK. I know its included in the ticket but it involves hanging around at AMS.

If you travel business class the last price I had was £899 return. BMI LHR to AMS then a long walk across AMS airport to the China Airlines bay.You are supposed to only take 20kg on the first leg so it makes the 30kg on the second leg obsolete. I took 26kg and wasn't challenged but it says 20ks on the ticket and if you know BMI they are as friendly and as helpful as a scorpion.

  2. According to the Nation newspaper, nearly half of the Kingdom's adult females are single. It implies they are childless so presumably it excludes divorced women too.

The reasons given was "the lack of time to look for a husband" and "women prefer the freedom of being single".

75% of women use birth control, which has led to an estimate of 1.7 children per woman compared to 6.3 in 1964.

The article goes on to add that a labour shortage will follow and LOS will depend on migrant labour. It concludes that the elderly will outnumber the children in 15 years.

On a personal note, it does offer the farang a wider choice than he might have previously imagined. It conludes that the partner may not want to get married, which could solve alot of problems and may not want children which makes life less complicated and expensive.

Just what I had in mind!

  3. New Triton 2.5l 2wd 4door.

I have been trying to get the price down and have 55000bht offered off the 608000bht list.

    Extras come later if desired.

Registration is about 7000bht and insurance with Aviva at 16500bht.

Has anyone bettered these deals or got any comments please?

  4. Lopburi3

    Thanks for your response.

I have a Non immigrant "O" multi entry visa. 90 day stay.Sorry for the confusion.

I want to extend it/ get an "annual extension of stay"

Can I do that in LOS? How do I do this?

Or better to return home after 12/15months to obtain another in Hull as I need to enter and re-enter

    every two months.

A re entry visa every time I want to leave seems tedious and expensive?.

I have a Thai Driving Licence, which I obtained in Korat by using my rental contract as proof of having a residence. Hope that explains "residence".

I am in UK now but travelling back to Korat so will pick any reply on return.

    Thanks again.

  5. I have a multi entry one year OA visa which expires March 07, obtained from Hull

I want to remain in LOS based on retirement.

I still travel to the UK though.

I am over 60 yrs and have a Thai bank account and enough funds, a Thai driving licence and permanent residence. I am not married.

    What are the best options?

Can I apply at any Thai Immigration border office for new or visa extensions ?

Would annual extensions be preferable until I want to apply for permanent retirement visa?

  6. You can never get enough of this thread and its a good thing we don't all like the same type of girl.

We men like our simple pleasures and fortunately it seems girls like the same thing.

Chasing the rainbow can be exciting for a while but tends to make life more complicated and expensive.

Though most urge the boys not to be complacent and settle for the first damsel they meet, but as has been said here before, try to find a partner that has similar interests.

Recently divorced or widowed men looking for a partner will have no problem finding a variety of partners in the provinces if they set about it with enthusiasm.

The problem is we get into a rut if that is the right word and find it difficult to get out of it.

Looking for a fresh start can seem to be to much trouble.

So get your black book out and be prepared for a few knocks along the way as well as a few lonely nights in, and the very best of luck to that man.

  7. "Seems they may have missed one?"

    Grammatically confusing friend.

Is that the good Shepherds, that missed the wolves

or did you mean the wolves have missed a Good Shepherd?

I am the Good Shepherd sayeth the Lord

    "I will protect you"

But they shoot four legged carnivores in this part of the world.

So I should stay low in your "tank"for awhile teleTiger.

    Ahh Ahh.

  8. Informative and helpful post Jai Dee, but I cannot help wondering whether those with a vested interest in making money from selling chemicals to limit the mosquito threat really want to see an erradication campaign.

Thats what is needed on a world scale and only the UN supported by the world can achieve it.

Given the will, anything can be achieved.

In the meantime households have to spend on spray can's and all the other paraphenalia to limit the problem in their own little world.

At least someone in Korat is doing something. Lets see how successful they are with the help from all sections of the community.

Where and to whom does one report a problem?

  9. I have been offered 50kbht off the new price of a Triton 2.5 GLX 4door 2 wd priced at 608kbht.

What is the most anyone has been offered off a Vigo 2.5 4 door 2 wd "E" List price 636Kbht?

And where was this offered? I was offered 35kbht but would have liked more.

Forget the accessories for the moment as they can be added to taste later.

  10. Never mind the spelling error, just saying the word is going to stretch most linguists.

However always have a back up plan if things ( and aircraft) go arse over heels. ? Cracked concrete?

Take the bus to Non Khai (North of Khon Kaen) cross over into Laos at Friendship bridge.

Take the bus to Vientiane Airport. Take the plane out from there.

    QED!

    Alternative back up plan

Take the train from BKK to K.Lumper. Take the plane from there.

    Alternative back up plan.

Bypass LOS and head for ? Hanoi ? Manila or anywhere.

  11. Fresh Milk?

Who is checking the collection service and dairies?

Who decides the Butterfat content ?

    Are there minimum standards?

Where is it printed on the label

Tesco /Big C labelled milk, is it monitored by the retailers?

How can we be sure that the farms are cooling the milk rapidly and keeping the milk in the

churns mixed and cool until collected?

Definition of Cool - below that which bacteria multiply?

The first collection of the day stays on the pickup until the last is collected. Plenty of time for the milk to heat up and become suspect?

The smaller farms give most concern They don't seem to have the resources to hold the milk properly!

  12. There are various Thai companies "bottling" Thai produced milk which should have been pasteurised to international standards.

Correct storage both in the shops and home will prolong its "shelf life" and most is date stamped.

However there are many small dairy farms in Thailand where the cow milking practice and the milk collection system, which is still in churns, does not appear to be of the highest standard . Does this milk go into the liquid or processed market?

Just how safe to drink is Thailand's natural cows milk?

What are the antibiotic residue permitted levels?

Any other nasty micro organisms present?

    Are there any figures published?

What should one do if one suspects milk or any other raw food is contaminated?

Are there Public Health testing laboratories available to the public?

  13. F1 Visa Runner

The 2.5 GLX Triton 2wd 4 door comes with a turbo charge?

Are you saying that performance and fuel economy is improved by fitting an intercooler to that model? Do you know the model of intercooler or is it the one Mitsubishi fit into their other models?

  14. I wanted a new 4 door 2wd pickup. the 2.5l is powerful enough and with a manual box you get more Km/Litre, an important consideration.

The Toyota Vigo back seat lifts up to create a luggage well behind the front seat and I think the Toyota may have a better resale value, but it costs 50000bht more after discount.

I liked the Triton because it has a new engine, better cab and LSPV braking. Not ABS but ?Load-Sensing Proportioning Valve. It also has a neat turning circle of 5.7metres.

The June issue of Pickup Performance Magazine (60bht) claims the Triton does 18.15Km./L @ 100Km/Hr. It compares the Vigo, Nissan Ford Ranger,Chevrolet,Triton and Mazda.

I have settled for the Triton.

When I buy I will take the discount and let the Garage register the vehicle. Unless they will really give some of the list below FREE.

For the other possible extras I will check local dealers.

  15. The Nation Newspaper reported yesterday "that an increasing number of husbands have become victims of abuse from their wives. Many tolerating the battering for years before they seek help.

Men fear they will be seen as weak and hen pecked and suffer in silence and that when a man is abused there must be something wrong with him."

Stressed and uptight men ( and women) tend to drink alcohol and become aggressive. Men stop talking and women become worried about it.

It recommends that if your women suffers from chemical gloom or if you have an alcohol problem have not reached your 50's to 60's when your testosterone levels decrease and you become less aggressive and more nuturing, help should be sort.

Reference "Why men don't listen and Women can't read Maps" by A & B Pease.

Are these Issan problems too and where can one go for help?

  16. RandomChances

I have no problem with those outside this Issan section commenting on the Issan problems, but if this is this the case may we also suggest you post your farming concerns on your own section? Is it like farming in Kinloss or Kent, Kintyre or (k) Cornwall?

    Teletiger

Do tell us about your farming management system. I think you may need help friend.

There are only three ways of getting into farming -- Matrimony,Patrimony and Parsimony.

Which one applies to you Tiger?

    You do understand the question?

Just trying to be helpful and polite you understand.

I will always stand by what I say.

I have been farming since 1959 but don't admit to know the half of it yet.

I've now retired on my ill gotten gains now but don't let that worry you.

  17. Ramdom Chances

Now I see you are from Sakhon Nakhon I can see the misunderstanding.

Being in Korat and visiting the area within 60km the topography is different.

The Brahman bull calves are not kept beyond 6 months here. They sell for around 6-8000bht at the local market.

Maybe you would like to show me your holding when I get round to visiting the area?

I think the idea is to stay in Udon Thani and travel to Sakhon daily.

  18. I posted a thread in May to no avail.

I have never played before but bought the set and have played one round.

My partner is better than me and we are both looking for (Golf) partners if you catch my drift.

There are good courses in Korat, Sikhui and Pak Chong.
