I don't know why anyone should treat anything they are told by expatvac or any other Government department as gospel truth that you can safely hang your hat on. Indications are generally encouraging though that more or less depends on where you are.

Good luck to all and try to be patient. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

No one takes anything as the "gospel truth" in Thailand that has been here for a few days if they have any sense about them.  Vaccination news/"planned" efforts/website registrations published have been inaccurate, misleading, given false hope to expats especially those with families. If it were me alone I would travel back to my home country and get vaccinated.  Some folks just need to see the needle move "in their area" and yes it depends where you are.  In BKK the needle is moving, slowly for those under 60 but moving, other places not in a major city or tourist area not so much. Indications where I live are not encouraging, Thai folks or expats have not been offered Sinovac or any other vac in my Amphoe. Most in my village are over 65.  Province hospital has a google form that no one has had success on. Helping folks here sign up because they don't have a clue how to navigate a ill developed website nor a good one.

Good title to the thread, interested myself to see some feedback.  To answer the OP's question: No appointment after successful registration on expatvac.

    Appreciate your optimism though.

  2. No emails or contact from expatvac in Saraburi after successful registration the day after it opened. Would be nice to hear some positive feedback from someone outside the greater Bangkok area that had an appointment scheduled through expatvac.  Maybe give us folks that live outside the Kingdom of Bangkok hope.

  3. Im sure private sector could do a bang up job of procuring, distributing and administrating vaccines than the govt could from seeing the "red tape" thus far. Let them make a little profit subsidized by the govt.   Private sector is more flexible, able to modify existing logistic pipelines quickly,  experienced in management/procurement and able to overcome bottlenecks in logistics. Govt could probably save money and serve the population better.

Why did you not want to settle in Japan?

My wife and I loved living in Japan.  It was/is an amazing place to live and before COVID we made regular holiday visits from Thailand.  Amazing cuisine, polite and engaging culture, Family Mart (crazy but we both miss), etc, I could go on.  We wanted to settle down outside of a city area where we could have a small farm which was more sustainable in Thailand where my wife if from.

  5. Always enjoyed Nong Khai nice folks which can be said about Udon T, Ubon & Mukdahan as well.  If it were me Nong Khai just a personal preference. Bored with NK take a trip to Udon T not too far.

  6. We live about 40 km from a Lotus'ss, Makro or Big C and have noticed it hard to find chicken local.  Pork is still available but goes quick.  Bread is hard to find.  Ventured out to the closest 7-11 and the shelves had a lot of bare spots.  Order a lot of groceries online but noticed delivery times that used to be two days are now 4-7 days.

Been putting off going to Makro in Pak Chong, Saraburi or Lop Buri.  Thanks for the heads up on Makro hours!

  7. Only lived here for 3 years full time but had a few conversations with the wife lately about moving but the question was where?  Back to the US was a no-go.  Lived in Japan and Singapore before, both nice places but neither was a place we wanted to set down roots.  We talked it out and thought better stay in our home for now and see what happens.  Retired now and life was pretty good traveling every month prior to COVID.  Politics change overnight so we are hoping and staying for at least the next few years then reevaluate.

Seemed like 2014 took a lot of life out of Thailand.  Folks in the village where we live were getting by pretty good before 2014.  There was a sense of happiness that has been dwindling since.

  8. My 15 days before date is today, not the 2nd (mentioned in previous post) which was just a reminder on my phone.  No success for 90 day online yet.  Have done 1 in person report with my new passport so online reports should work.  Tried different browsers, tried the app, tried all the tricks mentioned in TV forums to no avail.  Going to give immi a call this morning and see if they can help.

nice work, you booked 3 different appointments to make sure you got jabbed once.

Good to see your thinking of others during this humanitarian crisis.

Norwegian has a choice, wait or go home, as some of us do.  Some don't have a choice including expats who have families in Thailand who don't have the visas/money to fly the family home and wait for second jab nor spend the money for ASQ upon return plus those who just don't want to (me)   Norwegian guy is probably retired (assumption at his age) and can make ends meet, set back at the pool and the vaccine will come.  Probably doesn't have to get out in the mix and work every day like some folks like the delivery guys, lady who still sells vegetables down the road, grocery store employees, local store employees and countless others who need to make money and keep things going like eating.

Surely there are professionals that live in Thailand that could develop a secure online registration national database by province that precludes multiple registrations for vaccines which just clog the system. Probably a lot of expats with the skills to fix it but don't want the hassle, use the emergency powers to get those folks to help without strings( yes I know never happen) Probably a lot of the registrations for vaccines are folks who apply multiple times, read several posts on TV of folks who paid in different places for Moderna.  IMO there should be a hiring spree of foreigners who know code, establish national databases which can be used across govt domains or at least advise best practices.  There is talent here both expats and Thai citizens.

@Bangkokhatter I agree.  Thinking of others is a foreign concept now a days.

  10. Viewed this article yesterday in two Thai newspaper apps that said same as the subject of this post  Didn't put much stock into the article because no concrete details were given only details would be released later. Didn't seem to get a lot of press and been outside working all day so didn't follow up so may have missed something. Be pretty cool for those of us that have Thai spouses but would feel bad if I got put in line before someone who wanted the vaccine that was more in need.  Priorities here are different I guess than what I am used to.

Article said the decision to provide vaccines to pregnant women(article did not expand), workers in the country or those that have Thai spouse was approved yesterday.  Registration would begin at Siam Cement Group and details would be released later.  Assume Siam Cement Group is in Bangkok which is great for those who live there.  The press seems to always leave things hanging her using words like details to be released later, maybe, at a later date. Nothing concrete is said in the press.

A good thing would be suspending the 90 day reporting of foreigners which is a relief on both sides, nothing gained just an exercise in futility.  Mitigate what you can.
