I have been with Roojai for 5 years now and happy with them.....no claims BTW....but I read a few weeks ago on another thread on here that they will not insure over 75,s....as next year I will reach this milestone if I am refused cover from them then I will look at Misterprakan as an alternative.

We have had two cars insured  with them for a number if years.

I am 72 and I am sure last year they said they don't insure anyone over 71 they suggested we insured the car in my wife's name and me as a nominated driver

I had a small claim recently as I clipped a car at the school in torrential rain

It was all resolved and the claim was approved in a couple of hours

I only had a scrape on a mag wheel which they wanted me to claim.

  2. I suspect the answer to your final question is that for reasons we westerners don't understand,  Government Departments and even individual offices are allowed to apply their own rules.

This then allows corruption to take place.

The only place I have found over the years where it doesn't seem to exist is the Department of Foreign Affairs who issue Thai passports.

They are very helpful and efficient, scan the documents they require and the passport is delivered to your home in two or three days at a fraction of the cost you pay in Australia or the UK.

I think it should be stressed that it would only cover UNPAID medical bills that delinquent travellers without sufficient means or travel insurance were unable to pay.

I think you are correct, there seems to be a belief including by posters on this site that the proposed 300 baht fee is to provide free medical/ hospital treatment for visitors, that’s not my reading of the proposal.

That's with Qatar, my check in last week with Emirates was a breeze, plenty of security staff on hand to get people through, was A380 aircraft, pre booked my seats, bulkhead behind me, so no seat kickers, you can book certain seats for free. So, seems like Emirates is the choice, departed 14.30 and arrived BKK around 13.30 next day.

Obviously didn't read my post wheel chair services, aero bridge and security not handled by the airline but the airport and their staff.

What's the problem with Manchester Airport?

To give a couple of examples of what I experienced in June,

On arrival no wheel chair assistance for arriving passengers

The usual chaos at Immigration and baggage retrieval including long waiting times.

    On departure

A fellow traveler requiring wheel chair assistance waited over two hours for wheel chair assistance while staff sat around playing on their phones.

The security staff were their usual rude and officious selves

The aerobridge wouldn’t work resulting in passengers being held on the arriving aircraft for more than one hour.

I observed three different sets of steps being brought before one set worked

Qatar staff advised me that they requested that the aircraft be pushed back to one of the other gates which were and remained vacant but the airport authorities refused.

I have experienced other issues in the past but unfortunately there is no easy alternative if visiting the North.

Yes, my experience with Shoppee so bad I deleted their app and refuse to have anything to do with them.

We have bought a few items through Shopee but not clothing or footwear and had no problems.

I suspect it depends as it does with Lazada on the dealer you end up with.

If you want to talk about bogus claims, I suggest you start a new thread. See how many posters you attract.

I would not deny there are bogus claims. Having said that, your post is classic look over there.

You've been given the evidence of bad faith acts by insurance companies you asked for by two posters, and I fail to see how being an Employer Director of a super fund assists your understanding of the insurance industry. Perhaps it's an attempt at argument ad vericundiam.

Very simple we provided Death TPD and Income Protection for our members.

    Provided by Insurance Companies.

I learned a lot about Insurance Companies in nineteen years and had a Statutory responsibility to ensure that the Insurers met their obligations, which they did.

As I understand it CM is an office that insists upon TM30 for return from o/s.

Just one of the few offices that make up their own rules.

It must be peculiar to this Province as the DLT Head Office in CM accept the Pink ID as prove of address for licence renewal but the local office will not.

Yet they automatically renew the licence for six years not five.

The interpretation of the latest regs can differ from place to place. But in CM a friend who was overseas recently for three weeks went to Immigration on his return where he was told it was not necessary if he was living at the same address as last time he did a TM30 report.

I live in Fang Chiang Mai Province and in June made an overseas trip.

On my return I called in at the local Immigration Office which I pass daily and asked if they wanted a TM 30 report.

They asked for my passport printed a TM30 receipt plus a 90 day report receipt.

Bizzare yes, but I just go with the flow only takes a couple of minutes.

I used to work alongside the Health and Safety Executive in the UK 40+ years ago. They would make random checks on business of all types, and if something was found dangerous, and could not be fixed immeiately, the business would be closed down, until such time as all requirements had been complied with.

With my background, I am ashamed at the Thai authorities, who only check when forced to, and then  just report their findings. All such clubs in Pattaya, and all and any other businesses in Thailand should immediately be shut down until all safety features are fully implemented

Obviously they missed the high rise in London with flammable cladding or was someone else’s fault?

How can you rescue someone that is already dead? ????

If you read the article a person from the “ rescue “ service not “recovery” service dived in to bring him out.

The journalist who wrote the article is probably not as precise as you and if it was originally written in Thai you may find that there is only one word or sentence that describes the procedure.

Although it doesn’t help the victim hope it assists your understanding.

Thank you for that information.  This substantiates the mothers concern and warrants action.

The poor girl did not die in the van as suspected ....   it seemed a fallacy that she would die locked in a van.

    Murder investigation ....

    RIP poor girl.

I make no comment as to how she died tragic as it is, because I don’t know, but it’s no fallacy that a child couldn’t die locked in a van, through heat exhaustion.

"Earlier Phan Thong, Chonburi, police major Prasert Kulabutradee had been alerted about the death of a child at a well known private school in the area."

Absolutely pathetic that the Press is afraid to name "the well known private school".

Probably something to do with the draconian defamation laws in Thailand.

Even if what you publish is correct it seems you can still be convicted if the other party shows they have suffered “damage”.

I agree. Why foreigners get involved with Thai politics I will never know. It's asking for trouble.

I often wonder why some foreigners here want to get involved in the politics of another country outside of Thailand.

I know one who seems to have an obsession about US or a particular US politician.

This person is not a US citizen, has never lived there or has any connection with the US.

    Beggars belief !

What do you expect from Lazada?

Should they look in every package which will be delivered?

Lazada is a service for bringing buyers together with sellers. And they handle the payment.

Box is sent, box is received. That is about as far as what Lazada can initially do.

If there was any fraud going on then go to the police - as you did.

And before any of this: Look at the seller. Does he have a good rating? Does he have a rating at all? How many people bought that item already? Any good or bad reviews?

And last but not least: Is the price too good to be true? If you want to buy a phone which cost normally i.e. 10k then don't expect to buy to for 8k.

Until now I bought likely more than 100 things on Lazada, probably more. I think I only got one time delivery of a wrong item, and that issue was solved quickly.

IMHO Lazada does in general a good job.

Thats been my  experience over the years sought three refunds using the online system

on two occasions payment re credited within 24 hours
