  1. Ad hominem personal attacks aren't typically any sort of astute way to make a point. Not conducive to any sort of dialog at all and shouldn't be allowed on the forum IMO. Your attitude could use some serious realignment. You continue to attack me because I tried to offer you some helpful advice, which clearly you aren't interested in and doesn't appear that you are up for the task of self-improvement. If you don't like advice, given in good faith and kindness, that's up to you, of course. You are free to continue on in your way of communication, which, if I'm not mistaken, was the difficulty you made the post about to begin with. It appears that you may have more than only a problem with English writing proficiency. Perhaps you have a problem with communicating well in general (and perhaps in comprehension as well). I don't mean that as an attack. It is a serious observation from the way you've responded here in light of the issue you brought up to begin with. There may be a lot more going on than only cultural differences in your communication/comprehension difficulties. Why would anyone want to have a conversation with you at all when you might just go off half-cocked with ad hominem attacks for no apparent reason? Poor writing proficiency or even poor communication abilities are not something that need to be some sort of dehumanizing thing or any sort of put-down. Some people are skilled at some things and other people aren't. It's a good thing to recognize one's own weakness rather than refusing to accept the fact and attack anyone who may give you any sort of advice to help you improve on a given weakness. By the way, my stepfather was nearly illiterate, but he endeavored to improve and ended up doing a fairly well. If that's where you've come from, then that's great and I hope you continue to improve. In the meanwhile, hopefully you can recognize, since a number of people have told you that your writing is quite difficult to comprehend (And those were the ones who took the time to bother mentioning it to you. Who knows how many just turned away immediately and didn't bother letting you know, in order to help you recognize something for you to work on improving.), that your writing needs great improvement still in order to be more easily understood. Yet, at the same time, don't let that stop you or slow you down in expressing yourself. The more practice, the better. Just take a chill pill and a piece of humble pie, don't take a stand on a high horse, and accept constructive criticism that isn't attacking your character, but simply pointing out a weakness with intention to help. Use it to better yourself, not to become an unduly bitter person.
  2. I had to take a second look at your comment. At first I read it as though you said "the hole matter"! lol
  3. If you would have read what he was replying to, there was absolutely ZERO nastiness in it. It was constructive advice given with the very obvious intent to help the guy, who very obviously has a difficult time expressing himself with decently comprehensible writing in English, as attested to by numerous others also posting about it. He opted to respond with nastiness. I'm guessing you didn't see the original comment that was intended to help him that he was being so nasty toward. I do agree with you though! This forum has LOTS of nasty people. Unfortunately, he opted to be one of them in this case.
  4. BINGO Right on the money! After reading more in the comments, I came to understand a bit better. At first, I actually thought English wasn't his native tongue. I had a very difficult time making heads or tails of his post. It appears a number of others were in that same boat.... But, I was glad to see some others were able to decipher it. Kudos to them!
  5. Thanks for that info. I'll check it out! Google can be worked with if you can read and write Thai, but it's a hassle. My new laptop was purchased abroad and doesn't have the Thai keyboard, so I use Google on the occasion I need to write something in Thai, but it can be a real pain in the neck because the translations are often so whacky. Thankfully, these days I rarely need to write anything in Thai anymore. At one time it was a daily occurrence, which would be untenable with Google. I was guessing that eventually AI would clear these sorts of things up. Looks like it's coming! Thanks again.
  6. Lecture?? lol I wasn't lecturing at all. It's called constructive criticism. I was trying to be helpful for you to be able to communicate better. I guess you are a bit sensitive and can't handle a weakness being pointed out? No, I'm not an English teacher There are a number of people who also mentioned that they had a hard time understanding your post. You should be able to get a clue from that, in order to grasp that you might try a bit harder. I honestly thought English is your second or third language. I believe it may be your first, now that I've read a bit more of the comments. That's some pretty astounding English for a native speaker! Maybe you were drunk? I guess there could be a number of reasons for such incredible syntax....
  7. With the help of some of the interpretations from others here, I might possibly comprehend what the post is about.... MAYBE. Not really sure... That was some seriously challenging convoluted English. HINT: If your English isn't good, try using Google Translate. Use VERY simple sentences. Subject Verb Object (not necessarily in that order, depending on your language...), but the point is to create VERY simple short sentences. These usually get translated pretty well. Sentences with relative clauses, parenthetical expressions, etc., often get translated very poorly, depending on the language be translated. Or, just keep your English sentences very short and simple. Punctuation can also be tremendously helpful.
  8. Yeah, Thai politics is so much more wholesome...🙄
  9. Crypto, if he has any sense.
  10. Gotta deal with the competition ahead of time
  11. You came perilously close to using "work" and "police" in the same sentence, but did refer to that possibility in the ensuing sentence! 🫢😬
  12. "Thai politics..."? I think you would have been just as accurate if you left out the word "Thai".
  13. The people of... deserve better. It seems to be a popular trend. Just take a look at the U.S., Canada, Guatemala, Honduras, Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Iran, North Korea, Germany, France, Ukraine, Russia, Libya, DR Congo, Yemen, Venezuela, Somalia, Nigeria, Haiti, Bosnia, and on and on I'm sure it could go. That's just off the top of my head....
  14. Generally, I agree with that. The 'g' can be discernible, but it can be very close to voiceless. Ending with a 'k' could be voiced or voiceless. It really depends on the speaker and their understanding of how it should be pronounced. If people knew what a glottal stop was and there were an internationally recognized (by the general population) symbol for it, that would be ideal. Using the International Phonetic Alphabet's symbol for the glottal stop would just cause confusion because it looks so much like a question mark. That could be fun though... then the street sign would look just like how it is when you ask someone for directions around here! You never know if the directions you're getting are real and are often very questionable! ???????? But IF the International Phonetic Alphabet were taught throughout school years in language instruction and someday everyone became familiar then it could all be solved ???? And the 'o' or 'au' or 'aw' sound along with it being a long vowel, with lengthened vocalization, all together with the glottal stop could be printed intelligibly - ɔːʔ But then again, then nobody would be able to complain or make fun about it in forums like these ???? What fun would that be!? Maybe they should just leave it as 'Ok'!????????
  15. Or Auk, comes to mind, e.g., Aukland. Or even Awk. But yeah, Ork is pretty much just as bad as Ok.
  16. Definitely... because we know Thailand would be sure to steward your taxes better and not a baht would go to waste.
  17. As if anyone expected any sort of truth or justice to come about on his return.... All of this "News" is a complete and meaningless distraction.
  18. It's amazing how people will be so swayed by a movie! I remember the insane flood of Chinese tourists that came to Chiangmai after that movie around 10 years ago (something like "Lost in Thailand"? I forgot... never saw it). It was nuts!! During that time, one friend of mine who owns a tourist/motorcycle/car rental shop downtown told me that he'd rather lose all of that business if it could go back to how it was before, even though he was cashing in on the influx bigtime. It was a huge headache dealing with them, not only in his business, but for the city at large and to some degree, the rest of the country. It would be so beautiful if this movie could do the same in reverse! They should make an entire series out of it!???? Then make it even better by getting the producers to visit Thailand and arrest them upon arrival at the airport for defamation!???? hmmm I guess they can't do that... the CCP wouldn't approve.????
  19. Yep, and don't forget the place that is talked about even less than East Turkistan (the minorities in the west that you mentioned), that is, Inner Mongolia, not to mention Tibet.... I doubt many tourists will be coming from those regions, so I guess nobody cares....
  20. That was a bizarre sentence to end the article with... are we supposed to know who Jia Xueqiong is????
  21. Should be public executions for stuff like this. Sad for that little one beyond words....
  22. He had a pimple in the pics on his way back to Thailand and it's gone now....????
  23. Kazakhastan would be a fascinating place to visit. But a country of 20 million wouldn't be a place I'd figure there'd be an influx of tourists from to the degree to worry about the infrastructure of being able to handle them, especially when you have countries around you who are much more wealthy and more populous by a large margin and travel more, like South Korea, Japan, and Australia and other more populous countries right nearby that may not be as rich, but have a lot of people and they travel like Malaysia, Indonesia, India, etc... but noooooo here comes Kazakhastan!!????‍♂️????‍♂️ Well... at least they are trying?
  24. Well... maybe the immigration authorities should have some sort of star rating system for airports around the world! I wonder how they would find a way to award themselves 5+ stars here???? But, in actuality, I've had a MUCH better experience with immigration over the past 6 or 7 years than the previous 15+. Maybe I've just been lucky? That's hilarious, but not hilarious at all in other respects, re the English ability at a 5+ star resort! It's also, sadly, not surprising. What I'd like to know is, who on earth says they are a 5+ star resort!??? Do these places give themselves that status?
  25. Their insurance should cover it. It shouldn't result in higher prices for one incident. I don't think anyone was insinuating that they should get a huge settlement for hurt feelings. There is not enough information in the article to know what might make a settlement reasonable. And it said nothing about demanding a "huge" settlement either. Apparently NONE was offered. There's a world of difference between ZERO and some kind of settlement. Maybe she and her husband would be in complete agreement with you and would be fine with "a little more" or a few days free stay. Maybe they think there is a principle involved here. Maybe they aren't complete self-serving idiots. Maybe they are highly educated and incredibly generous and even magnanimous people. Maybe there's a good reason the law has provisions for awarding personal injury cases damages for "pain and suffering". Maybe we don't have any idea what kind of pain and suffering they or their 3 year old son may be bearing. Maybe we shouldn't assume things that we don't know.
