Hi,
Check out the shrub / wanna be tree below.
Chamaecyparis lawsoniana Ellwood's Gold - Lawson Cypress
A few months back wife bought 12 for a section of our border wall / side of the house walkway. Plant shops will have different sizes you can purchase and its easy to control the height once planted. Ours are about 1.2 meters high, and receive no direct sunlight. Nice looking plant/tree, slight eucalyptus smell that is supposed to fend off the mozzies (or so we were told by a neighbor). In PKK these sell for 50THB and up depending on size, the 1.2m were 150 THB each.
Hope this helps,
Chris

Hi,
I have a side of my house that never gets any direct sunlight (though it's pretty bright... just no direct sunlight.)
Can anyone recommend some good bushes or shrubs that will live well in this area? Looking for some hedge bushes which we'll keep to less than 1 meter high, and also a couple taller, narrow bushes for the corners, that we'll keep to 2-3 meters high.
Any advice would be great! (Thai plant names would help so I can ask at the markets).
Thanks!

As mentioned above, True run one fibre to the premises which terminates at the router and then all the TV boxes are connected via coaxial cable (which is not the same as UTP Cat5e/6 etc.). RJ45 is not a cable specificaltion, it's an interface (a connector).
If I were doing a new build, I'd run structured cabling all over the place, using UTP Cat6 or better. Most data / cabling combos can be run over these cables with some kind of converter at each end.
Alternatively, as coax is relatively cheap, I'd run both UTP and coax cable throughout the building.
I'd also pre-install several floor and wall boxes in obvious places where a TV etc might sit and run conduit for HDMI, network and power, ideally with power separated, but I'm a little annual on these things.
Finally, although wireless is becoming ubiquitous for most things, I ALWAYS use cable where possible, for both security, performance and reliability. Wireless is for my phone.
OK.... this is important. Again, I'll get it confirmed by True before running coax to the TV locations.
Thank you!

I have True fiber for TrueVisions and internet.
There is only one fiber cable, which comes from outside to the Huawei all in one router. There is no external fiber modem, only this one box, which then has LAN, Wifi and TV out.
The True set-top box is connected by the coaxial TV cable.
I would need to dismantle the whole thing to take photos, so I'm stealing them off Google: This is the back of the router - there's telephone sockets for VDSL, then 4 LAN ports, and finally coaxial TV output.
Fiber cable goes into a loop at the bottom:
Hence you do not need to drag any fiber around your home for True. Instead, get high quality LAN cables (CAT5E/6/7/8) for internet, and standard coaxial cables to wherever you would have TV sets/set top boxes, and you'll be covered.
Ahh... this is different than I was getting from the replies here. I will go in and talk to True (though the people int he shops often don't seem to know what they're talking about).

Thanks all for your replies.
So, I think the consensus is that if you have True Visions via fiber from the street, you don't need fiber to each point where a TV box will be. Just LAN or good wifi will do it.
In the current house (BKK), cable comes in from the street, is split and connects to each TV Box via coax. When we had an issue with one box, True told us we should upgrade to fiber as they will phase out the cable in areas where the fiber is available.
The new house is certainly being hard wired with CAT6 cable to multiple points, including those where the True Visions TV Boxes will be. So: fiber to the where True's modem/router will be, then LAN for the rest. This should be true for this True Visions TV package: https://www.truevisions.info/platinum-hd.
Thanks all!

There is no such thing as "true visions fiber".
The fiber cable from true terminates at the modem/router, that's a single point in your house.
Then you connect the True TV box (or multiple...) to your router, either by wifi or regular RJ45 ethernet cable.
Thank you! I didn't know that True TV boxes were just connected over the LAN and don't have their own fiber lines. Our current house still uses True cable, and they ran ugly coax cable to each TV box, tacked to the walls. It looks pretty terrible.
Thanks again... that solves the issue!

Hi All,
We're building a new house, and plan to eventually have True Visions fiber (for TV) at a couple points in the house. I want to pre-install the fiber cable to the TV points (as I don't want True technicians having to run cable in a finished house and tacking it to the walls the way they do... yuck). Of course it's too difficult to get them to come and partially install now in a half finished house.
So my question is, what type of Fiber Cable is True Vision using? Is there any specific specification/brand? I'm assuming it is FTTx. I found cable for sale here... FTTx2C that says it's True compatible.
If anyone has any advice or experience here, that would be great!
Cheers,
T

Hi,
For 1, yes, I used my Thai address for Mailing address, and left Permanent Address blank.
For 2, not sure as my CC address is the same as my mailing address here, but I assume you need to use the address on the CC account.
PS: I think this belongs in a different sub-forum...

Thanks... yes, sandwash is what I was looking for. It looks like TOA makes a sandwash sealant. Perhaps that improves durability?

OP here... the guy in question got his lab results, and he just asked the doctor issuing his lab report to add a note that it was an RT-PCR test to the report (which it must have been anyway). All good, he's arrived now.

Tell him to check for a chance of test in the airport.
there might be 24h waiting time for result. But some laboratories do at 45 minutes and around $300Thanks... he's coming from O'Hare, and their in-terminal testing is a day for RT-PCR.

Hi All,
Friend has an approved Thailand Pass for BKK Test and Go. He's having difficulty finding an RT-PCR testing service before his departure.
He can get (has already actually) a PCR test (not RT-PCR).
According the the FAQ on the Thailand Pass website here, a standard PCR is acceptable. It says:
"Please note that similar testing techniques including PCR, qPCR and RT-qPCR are also accepted."
Has anyone else had experience entering with a standard PCR test? It should be OK, correct?
Thanks in advance,
T.

My friend applied and got confirmation on Tuesday 1-Feb in the evening. His Thai Pass was approved today, so about 4.5 days.

He should have gotten a confirmation email with the access code in it as well. If not, maybe check his spam folder.

Sent an email to support, waited a bit, and tried again...
AND NOW IT WORKS... showing "Under Review" now.

If the hotel has not confirmed the booking with the 'pass system site'
(within 30 hours) the whole thing may be cancelled.
Could that be why??
If booked through a booking agent who's responsible to report the booking?
Hmmm.... it hasn't been 30 hrs yet. I might just resubmit like Sheryl did.

Hi,
Just want to see if anyone else is experiencing any problems with the Thailand Pass system at the moment.
Yesterday, registered for Thailand Pass and everything went fine. Got the access code in the confirmation email. Yesterday, immediately went to check the status, and the system found the information, and showed the status as "Under Review" (as expected).
However, this morning, trying to check status with the same access code and information, I only get an error message saying "The information is not registered."
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? The call center numbers don't answer.
Thanks!

Supposed to put photo of ATK test on Morchana, I'm sure others know more. Also I believe it's a way for "them" to track your location.
I downloaded it after Test and Go before leaving the hotel, thinking I had to upload the ATK photo after 7 days. There is no way to upload anything within the app, or any notification to do so.
The only real function it has is a QR code scanner that I guess you're supposed to use when you go into the mall, the supermarket, etc. On that feature it says "Record Contact and Estimate Risk".
Anyway, it doesn't seem like many people are using it.

Most likely no.
The date of entry is written on the bottom of the page.
Thanks, yes, I just noticed that. That's OK, I can apply for a new Thai Pass. It's simple enough.

Hi,
I've got a valid Thailand Pass. I traveled overseas for one week and have since returned to Thailand on my Thailand Pass, following all the procedures. No issues.
My Thailand Pass shows an Expire Date of 10-Feb-2022.
I will travel out of Thailand again for another week or so in December. Do I need to get a new Thailand Pass, or can I use the same one? The officials at the airport will make sure I have the SHA+ hotel booked and such, so it feels like it should be OK to use the current, valid Thailand Pass.
I wasn't able to find anything on the FAQ on this question.
If anyone has any experience with this I'd appreciate some advice.
Thanks!T.
