The Bangkok Post states that he "died after falling from the 8th floor".
Hmmm... according to the breaking news alert email I just received from Thai Visa, he jumped.
Does TV know somthing more?
-
I saw a couple videos of this character. In that particular video, you can tell he was really hamming it up for the camera.
That jerk had no business being there at all. He should leave.
-
GREAT video guys. Well done.
-
When asked whether he was concerned with the security situation on Silom, Chewbacca explained, "Ahrgdlrdlrdlrdlrdlrdlrdlrrrr".
-
Well, the Wookies aren't afraid to come to Bangkok.

Good lord. Every year I am compeltely amazed.

Thanks Phazey!
That was it... I changed the DNS to True's, unplugged and replugged the router, shutdown and restarted the browser, and now its fixed.
Thanks a lot!!

Thansk for your responses.
It's actuallyjust True ADSL on a TOT phone line.... But I also use a Hutch EVDO modem and the sites are not blacked on that.
Hm!

Hi,
I use True/TOT ADSL at home. Lately, I am having problems with several sites I use regularly. The web pages load fine, but the images do not (it's all red x's).
It's not the computers. I know this as I can plug in a CDMA modem from a different carrier and everything works fine.
An example site is www.modelmayhem.com. I used to never have an issue here. Now, however, the page loads but it is all red x's where the images belong.
So... I'm trying to figure out if it is somthing in my Router settings that is awry, or did True decide to block the graphics servers for these sites?
Any True ADSL users... Can you see the thumbnails on the first page of www.modelmayhem.com? I really appreciate if anyone can check and advise...
Thanks,
T.

Here's a funny T-Shirt story....
If a Thai court ever are requires you to go to probation in BKK, when you go to see your probation officer, you might be required to sit in a small classroom with a group of other probationees and watch some videos.
The first video they show you is a guide on how the probation process works. They show some staged enactments of people visiting the probation office. One guy comes in, sits down across from his probation officer, wais, and hands over his probation book. He appears several times throughout the 30 minute video.
What the editors of the video didn't pick up on - I think - is that the probationee is wearing a t-shirt that says in bold letters "F% O$% WAN$%#" throughout the whole video.
Made me chuckle...

I purchased the 16,900 baht prepaid plan with the Huawei EC226 EV-DO usb modem.
I connect to EVDO in Pathum Thani near Thammasat University.
Useing speedtest.thaivisa.com today, I recorded:
Download: 310kbps (38.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload: 68kbps (8.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
I find this performance frankly horrendous. I find their promotion of this service as a 3.1Mbps utterly false.
Not reccommended.

Try adjusting the MTU Packet size setting in your router. This solved the problem for me.
Google MTU packet size to find out how to find the optimal setting. One suggestion is here: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/695
-
Hey... both sites work for me from home today on Ture.... just an FYI. If not for you. then try lowering the MTU packet size setting to somthing smaller. that's all i could think of.
-
I have had problems like this using True before with other websites. One thing that helped was to adjust the MTU packet size in my ADSL router to an optimal level, and all issues went away.
No idea if this will work for you, but it did for me. Google "MTU packet size" and you'll find stuff on how to figure out the optimum setting. Then play around with that setting in your router.
BTW, your pages came up fine for me but at the moment I am on a Hutch EVDO modem which I think uses Loxinfo. I'll check them from my True conenction at home later.

Thanks for the replies.
I finally figured out that this router - Netgear DG834G v4 - has problems with the latest firmware update which I applied recently. I downgraded the firmware to version 5.01.09 and now iSkype works just fine.

Hi All,
I'm experienceing problems with inbound voice on Skype. I use a True 4Mb ADSL connection through a Netgear DG834G router.
When using Skype, the people I talk to can hear me no problem. However, incoming voices are garbled, patchy and echoey... you can't understand anything the person at the other end is saying. Again, they can hear me no problem.
Are there any issues with True that someone else has experienced here?
Or, is it the router settings? I have tried to adjust the MTU packet size settings in the router, but it doesn't really help. Can anyone reccommend some router settings to check or adjust that might help?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Cheers,

I play Lam Luk Ka a lot. Good choice... it's the best course(s) around in my opinion. Fairways and greens are ecellent. I usually call them up myself to book. The great thing about Lam Luk Ka is it's always easy to get a tee time and on a weekday there are not many golfers on the course.
I played there last weekend... the course is in great shape at the moment.
Enjoy!

I can access Ning.com through a KSC connection. I searched for "Thailand" on it and the first hit is a site called "UDDTODAY-THE RED SHIRT PEOPLE IN THAILAND". Maybe that is why some ISPs are blocking it?

irregardless, neverdie?

I live in BKK and buy it from Intuit online... turbotax.com. It's a big download, and costs like $30-50 for the current year depending on which edition you want.
You can buy past years' products also for like $60-$90 each.
You could also do it online at turbotax.com, but I prefer to download the application and mail it in.
Good luck!

Drive North out of BKK, past Don Muang. Keep going North on Paholyothin until you pass Thammasart University on your left (you can't miss it.) Then take the next U-Turn.
As soon as you start coming down the U-Turn ramp, you will see on your left a huge "Used Machinery" sign. You can see they of TONS of used machines of all kinds.
Not sure if they will have what you are looking for, but if not they might be able to help you find it.
Also... there is another similar place just under the Rama III bridge on the Samre side of the river. You can get there from Charoen Nakorn road. It's not far from the Marriot resoirt there. Head from the Marriot towards the Rama III bridge, it is right on the corner if you are turing to get on the bridge.
No idea if they have that machine, but that's where I would go to look.

Ekasilp is great for this kind of stuff. I bought big backgrounds from them... prices aren't bad.
See their website: www.ekasilp.com
Tough to find their office/shop though.
Good luck!

Mark45y, that's a very interesting synopsis. This topic and the points you describe are an intriguing story. Have you considered writing a book or article that expands on and explains those points? You should! I'll bet there are some fascinating stories in there. I would definitely read it.
Thanks!
