  1. I almost always tip 500 baht. If the caddy is particularly bad or annoying, maybe 300.

I also always split any winnings with the caddy... we usually play a 100 baht near-pin contest on all par 3's, carrying over if no one wins a given hole. When I win that, I give half to the caddy.

Note... sometimes we also play the Par 3 near-pin game and let the caddy of the winner have all the cash. We explain it to them up front... it's amazing how interested and serious they get when they know they stand to win some cash! It's fun.

  2. Does anyone remember how awesome the burgers were at Woodstock back when they used to be on the second level of Nana Plaza? Now it's Rainbow (insert number here).

Those were by far the best burgers I've ever had in BKK... never had one as good since.

Tried it at their new location off Tonglor, but it's not the same.

    *sigh*.... memories.....

  3. Still looking! Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Cheers,

What's the reason you prefer dry active to instant? The only difference I find is that you need less instant yeast than you do dry active yeast to achieve the same results.

Actually just want to try and test the differences...

  4. Hello,

Read through some posts on the topic of bread and yeast in Thailand, but can't really find the answer I'm looking for.

Where can I buy Active Dry Yeast in Bangkok? Not Instant Yeast....

I've checked Foodland, Tops and Villa, but no luck... they have only Instant Yeast.

Any advice on where to find Active Dry Yeast would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers,

    T

  5. Pepperoni you get here is not the same as the stuff we get in US! I occasionally get some from on Amazon when ordering other things. I have tasted several brands here that claim to be pepperoni, but taste like sour smoked sauages.

Foodland has in their deli a Hungarian Kolbasch (or something like that) which is similar to some American style pepperoni. I like it.

And... Ronny's get's my vote all day.

  6. Hello!

Can anyone recommend a good podiatrist in Bangkok?

The Mrs. has a difficult to diagnose, chronic pain in both feet.... been to several 'specialists' (orthopedic, general med, physical therapy, etc) but so far no conclusive diagnosis.....

Thanks in advance for any advice!

  7. Hi!

I have a relatively small office with a TOT ADSL connection. We have a D-Link 2640B wireless modem/router, and it is very unstable. Users often cannot connect via wireless, and we have to reboot it all the time so they can connect.

So, can anyone reccomend a good wirelss modem/router available in Bangkok that wil support, say, 15 to 20 people connected at any given time? I'm willing to spend the money, but want to make sure its a good one.

Also, where is the best place to go to shop and buy good routers?

    Thanks for any advice!!!

  8. Hi All,

Can any one give me some advice on where to find good, hard to find tools?

    Specifically, I'm looking for:

    - a good torque wrench (ratchet type)

    - Torx key sockets for that wrench - for torx bolts (6 point star bolts), various sizes

    - Allen/Hex key sockets for that wrench - for hex bolts, various sizes

The local home pro certainly doesn't have them.

    Any advice would be great!

    Cheers,

    T.
