The post you replied to:- "Can't give you anymore money because illigal immigrants are very expensive for the budget. You may be a British national but you are overseas and as such a lesser person to those who aren't Brits who have got a leaky boat to the Isles. It's a very, very sad world."

Your reply:- "Rubbish, and racist. Germany has far more immigrants and maintains one of the best pensions in the EU."

So, by your reasoning, the UK is in abetter position to pay their pensionersmore money because they don't have as many immigrants as Germany? Why bring Germany into it anyway? - the post is about the way the British Government treat their pensioners.

I brought Germany into it as you implied the reason UK pensioners get a bad deal is due to the amount of money being spent on immigrants. Germany spends far more on immigrants and can also pay a very healthy pension. Why can’t the UK? That’s not by my reasoning, but yours.

Then why are they coming to the UK in their boatloads for "a better way of life"? :-

"Thousands of migrants rescued in Channel, crossings to UK at second-highest on record

By  Emma Wallis Published on : 2023/12/04 Latest update : 2023/12/05

Thousands of migrants have arrived in Britain after crossing the Channel in small boats in the last seven days. Over the weekend, French authorities also rescued over 200 migrants off the coast of Calais. Crossings have hit the second-highest level on record.

Migrant crossings in the Channel over the last few days have increased once more. According to data from the British government, 1,264 migrants reached the English coast after crossing the Channel in small boats between November 26 and December 2."

Germany took in 2.1m in 2022.

There was a video on the subject posted a day or so ago explaining  the documentation that the International Pensions Section of the DWP requires to evidence residency.  You don't seriously think that they would just take the best part of half a million frozen pensioners' word for it, do you?!

I just noticed that you have provided one already. Thanks.

There has to be a better way. For example on exit from the UK no one passes through an immigration desk. Whilst I have always wondered how overstayed are checked, it must satisfy the requirements of the UK immigration.

I think it’s done at check-in. I noticed last time that my passport was scanned at the desk. Any overstayers then referred to Border Force maybe?

Try taking it to a good detailing shop. They can do alot to correct the paint finish, which will make the car easier to sell. Good luck with your RS, I'm in the process of moving money so it will be a couple weeks for me. Best car on the market in that price range.

Agreed on the best car for the price, imo.

I did take the old one to a detailers in Bangkok and got a 'full colour restoration' done on it. It's better than before, but they said it couldn't be fully restored, as it would need a respray to do that. I then advised they should rename their product in that case. It cost 6,000 baht.

No coating will help with the paint color on bumpers/plastics aging differently than the paint color on the steel.

Thanks. This is one question I had before. Am I right in assuming though that this applies more to lighter colours?

I just bought a Civic RS and they included that and extended service policy also a bunch of other accessories for free. They said ceramic coating can be done every 6 mo for 3 years after the initial application for 1000B. Ceramic lasts about twice as long as a good wax. The work is in the prep before coating, the application is a wipe on and hand buff with a microfiber towel. 1000b is cheap if they do a good job. I intend to go for the extra applications if the do a good job. It is easy to check just take a bottle of water and splash it on a couple places,if the water runs off they did a good job, as the finish wears off more of the water will bead up and eventually it will pool when it needs to be done again. Key to keeping the finish up is washing the car with a good quality mild car soap. If your buying a white car no matter how well you keep it up it does not have the same luster as a dark color.  The idea is to protect the finish and keep it looking good for as long as possible. It's up to you whether you think it's worth it.

Thanks for the details. This is pretty much what I’m hoping for. Mine is a Civic RS as well, in red. I was surprised at the amount of extras they threw in without even asking (rear sensors, dash cam, mats, boot liner, plus the usuals) and 130,000 baht discount. I pick it up tomorrow.
I think you’re right about the colour. My current Civic is white and it has faded, even though I’ve taken great care of it. This is causing a problem as potential buyers assume it’s been in an accident as both bumpers and other plastic panels are whiter than the rest.

  9. I’m not sure what the guarantee entails, but the price includes 8 re-applications over the two year period. I’m not sure if those are free or not. I realise it won’t stop stone chips, but most of my driving is in Bangkok, so hopefully that won’t be too much of a problem. I’m just hoping it’ll keep it nice and shiny for the time it’s on there.
