  1. unfortunately they have already started doing that with the new taxation scheme on remittances... thailand the hub of taxation no taxation without representation... unfortunately here the answer is TIT while the wokes are going on about human rights back home they should now how foreigners are treated abroad...
  2. no... i dont download much, but when i do i dont use a vpn and you? you ask a question to which you might consider giving your own situation...
  3. 555 ok then, taxsin and sreta... that makes two what a backward thinking country this is. sorry bamnutsak... although i sincerely doesnt happen, i fear the powers that be right now are dead set on re-criminalising it again i hope they fail. no one should be jailed or branded a criminal for using weed
  4. do like other civilised countries and allow foreigners to get permanent residency more easily. it would be a lot easier and more interesting for me to start a family if i werent always subnitted to stringent visa regulations that keep changing all the time. there are also other ways i could earn a living other than teaching if i were to get a green card. most importantly i would offer better quality services than thais... if i had permanent residence. the biggest reason my wife and i did not start a family is because of the uncertainty of my stay here and the difficulty to take her back home.
  5. surgery is over. now i am in serious pain. those of you who are only inconvenienced by this procedure are VERY LUCKY. now i see a half moon black line on the right side of my eye i guess that might be the scarring from the laser.. the doctor did not really want to give me the anesthesia as @Sheryl recommended saying it did not really help. not a pleasant procedure at all. also. i just noticed, when i look atr a blank google page on my tv screen there seems to be a wobbling circle in the centre of my vision... maybe due to where i was being zapped by the laser
  6. it is called a 'chang gong' in thai and not too far from the airport off of sukhumvit going in to bkk you have the biggest collection of scrap part dealers. youll have to find it yourself as i can drive there but dont know the names of the sois. fyi they will scalp you alive. they sell 2nd hand parts nearly same price as new. i have a b1985 e30 bmw and can still find parts online cheaper than chang gong...
  7. i believe my dr that reopening an eye, taking a lense out, putting another one in can be dangerous complication wise... its not as straightforward as just putting the lense in. tomorrow i am getting the laser 360 degree surgery in the afternoon. as some members here said it was painless for them... unfortunately not my experience. the 3 times i did it i was left with a burning sensation that lasted a few weeks. needless to say, i am worried i will accidentally flinch and get zapped in the wrong place. the dr has to hold a magnifying glass in contact with my eye for the duration of the intervention... it really is uncomfortable
  8. i guess the bank didnt factor in the tax on foreign remittance
  9. funny, these auctions are usually advertised after the auction has come to pass. IMHO it is likely a scam organized for the car tent sellers to refurbish their lots...
  10. i hope you fare well. when i asked my dr if i could switch my lens to the new kind for short distance and far away distance (dont remember... myopia or whatever the proper terminology is) improvement she told me that removing/swapping lenses was actually dangerous... good luck
  11. i agree to a point. i think you forgot to mention the parents who dont give a crap about their kids. it all starts at home. you are right about the backpack teachers. thais rather have a young, handsome/beautiful albeit incompetent teacher in front of the class than a middle aged qualified experienced person. once again... the problem really starts at home and trickles down... like a waterfall. most of the time i make recommendations to the parents for their kids to improve, they go 'yeah yeah' and nothing changes. why? cos the darlings have to be happy
  12. only one way to do this and that is inject $$$$$$$$$$$. As a teacher i can tell you there is a word for this differentiated learning which entails the teacher adapting the lessons to the needs of kids who cant follow. nice, in principle, but on the salaries paid here? no way! back home, teachers earn the equivalent of 120 000bht a month (starting 1st year teachers) and that still isnt enough to incentivize anyone to tailor programs specifically. one would have to work late into the nights to prep such lessons. the should implement a fail policy and if the kids were too lazy to do homework and review the lessons -- repeat the year... but hey! no one wants somchai to drop out
  13. since pukethai came to office, taxes have been the name of the game. note sure surly sreta is going ti like that one
  14. instead of reprimanding those of us who ask the question where, why dont you just answer. and as you can see, after you had a hissy fit cos i asked you where..., and i answered your question that most of us do pay. if you cant share the location then dont expect anyone to follow in your example. and if your office is rogue and had jacked the price up it would be nice to know. judging by your need for approval and your uncertainty you did the right thing i think you need to take chill pills when dealing with people.
  15. where did this happen? honestly... they have your info, so you can expect anything. is it supposed to be free? yes do most of us pay? yes used to be 500bht... seems they increased the fee... so once again, where did this happen?
  16. for arguments sake, do you have any links to that 3 million thing? in another thread i am constantly butting heads with morons who think this guy is so great
  17. that was an attempt to help make it more difficult to get visas so he could pocket more from agents... some people here still think big joke was a good guy...
  18. anything that upsets big fat lego head tony is good
  19. i edited likely when you were typing.... after re re reading i finally got it...🤣
  20. please explain this... the way you wrote is as if i pay 430 bht per month but am only covered 900. this makes no sense. i have 'pagan sangkom' e.g. social security and it has paid hundreds of thousands so far. and it costs around 430 bht per month kidney surgery knee replacement both legs cataract surgeries and the list goes on so, i think something is missing in your post... unless what you are trying to say is that 'dental coverage' is limited to 900...?
  21. not too many years ago they were saying that there were too many generals in inactive posts and that some might be axed... i guess they finally found them a nice cushy position to get rid of them... with salary and extra pension... bravo💩
  22. and this week on AN there was a shortfall on spending of 1.2tn bht? cant seem to make their minds up these geniuses
  23. i've worked with teachers here, for nearly 20 years, and these people are supposed to be educated, empathetic and caring. most of these guys, and some women, are cheap, out at bars as if their lives depend on it, and selfish. i once had a nice steak dinner at my house and i had invited 3 teachers with gf's. not one bothered to bring a bottle of wine or beer. that was the last time i did that. generally most people here are in survival mode and this is not a great way to live. just ask some people here you think you see eye to eye with out for a beer and let me know the responses. best advice, find a good lady and dont expect much from foreigners....
