AZ got stuffed, with money. EU paid a couple of hundred millions Euro's in advance for the production cost and now they don't get delivered.
And yes the vaccin has been approved today by EMA.
.....even though there is no indication that it works on people of 65+

With under-supplied vaccination facilities and overcrowded COVID-19 wards, the European Union is reaping what it sowed last summer when it decided to put the European Commission in charge of preordering vaccines. There was neither a legal basis nor any economic justification for central planning.
The UK has no overcrowded covid wards???? Woow, good news at last.
So you don't really need our EU-Belgian Pfizer vaccine? More good news!

Again, it is not the UK restricting the vaccine, it is the manufacturers. The schedule of production in AZ's UK factories is to meet the UK commitment. Their facility in Belguim, for EU has run into production problems, as indeed has Pfizer, also in Belguim.
Because of the two dose criteria of these vaccinations, once you've started production to meet a vaccination schedule, it cannot stop because somebody demands that this second dose stock should go elsewhere, which is what the EU is doing.
Astrazenica was heavily subsidised with EU taxpayers money.
And we are not talking about a butcher's shop, as the EU commissioner said.

Just in case some of the above posters would be interested in FACTS, there is an article in the Guardian.
EU could block millions of Covid vaccine doses from entering UK
You wil have to copy paste, no paywall.

First their cumbersome bureaucracy meant they ordered the vaccine several months after the UK. So now they are trying to bully their way out of the situation that they themselves created by stealing the vaccines that the UK ordered.

They are even raiding the AstraZeneca factory now.

What a disgrace the EU has become. We got out just in time. A corrupt, inept, bullying organization.
No sympathy for Anutin though. I can't imagine he'd be bending over backwards to help the "dirty farangs" if the shoe was on the other foot.

NO!
FAKE NEWS!
The Belgian authorities are checking the sales, on suspicion that there were under the table sales.
You insinuate something completely different.
SHAME on you!

Thailand is really getting the short end of the stick on this one.
The vaccine nationalism going on is truly tragic as without timely global vaccinations, the world won't be on a path of recovery.
That is of course true, but can be expected in this more and more nationalistic climate.
But I have my doubts about what Anutin says.
So far, the EU has not yet restricted exports of vaccine. That restriction is a treath against the UK: The UK factory of Astrazenica refuses to send vaccine to the EU, so now the EU threatens to block the deliveries of Pfizer Belgium to the UK. Other countries are not involved.

I have a problem with your use of "strong". It is often confused with domineering, IMO. There are many examples of strong women now and in history, but they don't often wish to parade themselves in public telling other people what to do.
Mother Teresa was one such.
Mother Teresa was not a friend of the poor. She was a friend of poverty.
She said that suffering was a gift from God.
She spent her life opposing the only known cure for poverty, which is the empowerment of women and the emancipation of them from a livestock version of compulsory reproduction.

But why stop the innovation here??
I have a brilliant idea:
Cut that "pizza" in 12 pieces, replace the imitation cheese by feta, and get rid of the ketchup.
I even have thought up a name for it: TIROPITA.

Most countries can only dream of a "fiasco" like the "NZ fiasco".

Thank you for the link.
I guess it has to start somewhere - so why not in the Seychelles......
We have a long way to go though, and until a large % will be vaccinated, airlines are not going to fly half empty airplanes.

Well actually, some governments in Europe have already removed the quarantine requirements upon return for vaccinated people, regardless of where they come back from, and more will follow shortly.

Strong woman!!! You have got to be joking. She sat on the back benches for years and did nothing...no bills, no leadership....zilch. It was only when Labour were heading for another hiding at the 2017 election that they propelled her forward as she could at least appeal to the younger vote and woman. The woman has the one skill and that is spinning bull <deleted>. And if you were here in NZ as I am and not some barstooler in Thailand then you would know the incompetence and failure that is on display everyday here. If you want a strong woman in NZ then Helen Clark would have fitted the bill not this bull spinning flake.

Oh dear, you overplayed your hand there, making the rest of your argument very suspected.
Just for your information, I lived several years in NZ, Raro, Porinetia Farani, and other islands.
Presently in am blocked in Belgium, and in Chantaburi I would not know about any bars that cater to immigrants (or expats as they call themselves).

I have the impression that quite a few posters have a problem with strong women, such as Arden.
But what can you expect from the average immigrant (some call themselves expat) in Thailand?

Siam Cement Group kicked in 100 million baht.
“The mission to manufacture Covid-19 vaccine is supported by the National Vaccine Institute, Public Health Ministry with a budget of almost Bt600 million, and an additional Bt100 million budget from Siam Cement Group in order to prepare the facilities for manufacturing AstraZeneca vaccine as soon as possible.” - The Nation/Asia News Network
Amazing how some things can be done very quickly here, without the obligatory 'committee'.
QUOTE: Amazing how some things can be done very quickly here, without the obligatory 'committee'.
Actually, with the latest news from Europe about Pfizer and Astrazenica, one could say that perhaps in Farangland there should have been many more 'committee'.
Both companies fail to deliver, and there are doubts about the efficacy of Astrazenica.

That may or may not be the case. It's more a matter for the Thai government to contain medical costs, than to worry about 'discrimination'. Why do heath insurance premiums go up as one gets older? Because it far more likely for an older person to need medical and hospital facilities and suffer from all manner of chronic illness. As for covering your own costs - there is no real way of policing that, unless the Thais could have access to your savings should such an eventuality occur. Some medical / hospital procedures cost millions of baht. And the very misers, unwilling to part with 300 baht are clapping hands at your proposal. Laughable !!
QUOTE: Why do heath insurance premiums go up as one gets older? Because it far more likely for an older person to need medical and hospital facilities and suffer from all manner of chronic illness.
My insurance premiums DO NOT GET UP as I get older.
When I was young, I payed tax for this, so it's balanced.
But then again, I live in a civilised country, not in US or Thailand.

I am not a virologist, I don't lead a centre for excellence, and I do not do briefings for the government.
However, I knew all this before, since I know how to google.
But I admit: this Young dude was faster than me in calling a press conference.

How can they ??? No tourists at the moment. Maybe ask them in a year when all tourists will gladly pay 300 baht to get in again (except those that had their feeling hurt and elect to stay at home in an act of defiance). Yes, will the whingers raise their hands now !! You may stay at home. More cheap 'everything' for us that are not misers and whingers.

And to answer your question "Clear now ??" it is not clear to me what you mean with "And yes T.V serves as a board for official government announcements."
