I can only say that most of those bags were not used because customers told staff not to put their groceries into a bag. It most certainly wasn't staff who asked their customers if they wanted a bag or not.

Bought a banana yesterday, which is already in a bag!, for my son. The cashier girl then put that in yet another plastic bag.... ???? One banana, 2 plastic bags... go figure.

There's still a long way to go before they make any real progress, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

And it is already sealed in nature' protective skin. What need for a bag?

  2. They still automatically put plastic spoon and fork in the bag when you get a ready meal heated, even though I don't want them or use them. They never ask, same with straws. I get milk for tea, not to drink through a straw.

They still waste and staff are not trained to ask. If they ask you every time if you require a bag, it might remind some to carry one and ask if the customer wants any kind of plastic. Including covers for drinks.

So where do you keep your money back home?

In a building society. Where do you keep yours? The reference is in regard to not getting interest on your money here and being unable to use your money for such a long period of time will require that you transfer another 400000 making the requirement 1.2MB and not 800,000

    As prescribed.

  4. At his age just the change in weather could see him off within a few months of moving home. Rediculous set of rules. If they ask for your accounts for the year showing you are spending while holding sufficient in the bank then that should be acceptable. What they are doing is penalising the majority of retirees on account of a few corrupt agents and police while rufusing to go after those who are involved in the corrupt practices.

I don't believe them. This guy might be overreacting (!) but he keep insisting he withheld the rent because the woman refused to give him a receipt. I find it hard to believe that he would simply refuse to pay the rent and lock himself in because he didn't have the money or didn't have any reasonable excuse.
Just ask the lady to show a copy of the receipt, or at least let her answer the question: did you refuse to give him a receipt, if so why?

I had a similar problem when I was renting. The landlord would not supply evidence of his id for immigration when applying for an extension. The guy may have needed a receipt for visa extension. It is his right to have it and he can refuse to pay without a receipt being furnished. Landlords here try their best to avoid taxes on their condo rentals. That being so they create problems for foreigners who are required by law to provide proof of where they live / contracts etc.

No. it is quite straight forward and yes, the money does not have to be seasoned. Retirement is not simpler, this is.

Maybe in your case. However in my case it was a nightmare. A lot of preperation. I made my application at Changwattana, Bangkok. It msy slso make a difference where you make your application and the type of officer that deals with your case.

  7. I agree with Kenny 202. The family extension is a nightmare. You have to take your kid out of school to be seen each year, take pictures with her at school and with her at home and your wife or partner. Pictures in differing poses and activities. Map of where you live, blue/yellow books, msrriage certs your childs birth cert. And your wife' id. A complete nightmare. I done it for 4 years and changed. Now much simpler. Thai government dont mind farang having relations with thai women however if you havd a child or marry them and want to look after them they will treat you like dirt.

    They just want your money.

  8. I agree wholeheartedly with Richard_Smith237

The driving lane is the left hand lane on any road, all other lanes are overtaking lanes. In this country there is no concept of this essential rule. If I see (as I often do) a driver driving down on the middle or right hand lane while the left hand lane is completely empty, I get frustrated and angry.

There is no education on this and many more essential rules by the government. Despite the repeated deaths in their thousands every year they do not run a advertising campaign on tv to address the cause. How to drive on a highway, box junctions ( Thai's do not know what they are for). I would love to see more roundabouts as there are in Europe to avoid all those dangerous U turns which are a major cause of accidents. Motorcyclists need to be taught not to overtake on the inside in the driving lane ( another major cause of fatal accidents).

Large trucks should all have lane watch cameras and proximity sensors to detect motorcycles or other obscured vehicles near the truck where they cannot easily be seen. Thailand comes down heavy on drugs, however the situation on the roads causes many more deaths than all the drugs put together, yet nothing is done.

There is an illegal U turn sign on the junction just near the Mall Thapra. There is a continual line of cars and motorcycles at that junction all day making that illegal turn. Now, there is no other nearby provision for making a safe U turn which makes a case for those vehicles illegally turning valid in my opinion. However: Why the sign then? Why not make it safer?

Is the reason for not having roundabouts as in the UK ( which work very well) that Thai's could not give way to the traffic already on the roundabout? I never see the politeness in Thailand that I see in the UK and other EU countries. In fact drivers do not know what to make of it and hesitate when I give way to a vehicle that wants to merge or exit from a road or building. I don't know if others have the same experience?

If the rules of the road are observed and enforced as stated there would be no need for this arbitary law.

  9. I have went through this process and have seen others go through it too. I have seen a very well to do Thai girl with a good government job and a salary of 60000 per month, her own codo and a lot in the bank being refused. She also spoke perfect english.

I on the other hand showed my GF as earning little and no funds of her own which was true. I said and showed that I could support her financially for the time she was in europe. I got insurance, flights, hotels, car hire and shows all booked in advance and an itenerary. I provided letters from my family and friends attesting to a subsiting relationship ( we live together) of 4 years, 2 of which living together. I provided a letter from our juristic stating that they were aware that we had been living together in a subsisting relationship for over 2 years. All the pictures, her name on the house book and bank statements. Letters from her employer and salary, there was much more that I provided, too much to go in to.

I believe that the most important thing to UK immigration is proving a subsisting relationship and a guarantee that your partner will return to Thailand. If she has her own money and contacts in the UK then she could abscond. My partner had no contacts nor money to do that. I also have a daughter and property in Thailand which holds me here. They are however only concerened with the applicant not you, other than financial support. She will not be a burden on the state, not abscond, guarantee that she will return to her own country

( I personally guaranteed this in a signed letter) .

I think in your circumstance it will prove very difficult to get a visa as the chance of her absconding is very real in their eyes. She has her own means and a skill that could be used in the UK ( such as a live in carer for elderly or disabled persons). You can try but you had better 'prove' that she will return. Cross all the T's and dot all the i's. I suceeded by the way whereas that very well off, beautiful and intelligent girl in the good government job did not. Good luck.

  10. All bullology. 7 kg why? If you get on as a passanger within the limit on baggage but weighing 150 Kg there is no problem. If the airline make a weight that includes the passanger and their baggage then ok. Otherwise it is an annoyance to people wighing just 60Kg and seeing a passanger with the ssme baggage and weighing 3 times your weight. You people love strict rules. Join the army.

Are you joking? Photograps with your child in your home, school, outside your home. Your child has to come out of school to attend and be seen by immigration official also your wife. Everything including blue books and id's, copies of your childs birth certificate, evidence that you are the father, money in the bank. A bloddy nightmare. Then you have to return another day for the decision. Retirement, 2 hours with waiting and little paperwork and decision. Unless you paid for a better service that is just a small part of the procedure. Seasoning period 2 months. Unless you do monyhly.

  12. I get this if I drink too regularly ( not too much) and I rectify it easily with a couple of tablespoonfuls of apple cider vinegar ( with the mother) three times a day preferably before food. You can mix with a pure juice to make it more palatable. Get off alchohol for a while and dont eat street food for a while. The Bragg make of Apple cider vinegar is good. See your doctor immediatly if it persists after trying the above for two days.

    If you want a 1 year extension as a parent you need;

    1.  To make a transfer every month. I recommend you send at least 40K every month.

    2.  If you’re not married to your child’s mother you need to legalise your parenthood. Being named in the birth certificate isn’t enough. You would need to apply at the local court.

Vientaine, Laos would probably be the best place to apply for the SE non ‘O’. They will accept the birth certificate (no legalisation required), and no financials.

This information is not complete. You can always have your legitamacy documented if your child is old enough (7 but sometimes younger) with the mother of the child if she is willing at the local Amphur. Simple and cheap process. This may not apply in your case (OP) but for the sake of complete information. They may also accept legitamised blood test which clarify's your paternity, you sould have to ask.

This article is lacking crucial details to understand what happened.

Visas were forged? Documents were forged? If you can forge a visa, why would you need to forge documents? How can an IO inside Thailand issue a visa, that's done outside of Thailand?

An IO confessed to breaking the law, accepted bribes and "was temporarily dismissed", so next week back to work as usual?

The Nation should try to improve the quality of their articles

Genuine visas but the officier who stamped the visa took a bribe. There would have been no back up paperwork or forged paperwork to accomplish this, so technically the visa is not legal but a genuine stamp from immigration.

  15. FN hot and crowded. Cannot wear decent clothes and go out, you get caked with flower and water.

Stay in your condo and wait it out. That is what I do. No better her in BKK stay where hou are. As one poster said. Go to the country for the day.

Really? That's 120.000 THB every month, Thailand  and for you this amount covers only going out occasionally.

Can I ask, where do you go, when you go out? And what are daily expenses, roughly?

I am sincerely curious about spending this amount, and it doesn't even cover going out every night.

I have a daughter and a high maintenance GF. Nuff said?
