If you're using the 'money in the bank' to live on how do you replenish those funds for your next annual extension?

By transferring more funds. I always use up the 80K and more every year. Thailand ain't cheap for a farang. I don't eat Somtam or any street food. The only solution now is to have a separate account with 800000 in it. Anyone done this with Bangkok Bank? And what kind of an account was found acceptable by Changwattana immigration?

Ditto, has happened to me twice. Fortunately I didn't come off. One jumped out from behind a parked car and and chopped my arm. First I knew of it was him hitting me. Location : Ratchadamri. Outcome : I fled and escaped!

The other pulled level with me on a motorbike and again chopped my arm for being in the wrong lane. I was shocked. We were doing 80 km/h! He just hit me without warning. Location : Viphavadi. Outcome : I stopped and I think I was fined, can't remember.

Police endangering lives for tea money! It needs to be stopped! Where is Big Cheese when you need him?

  3. Lemons in Thailand are a ridiculous price, I paid 180 Baht for 4 at Home Fresh Mart. I wish I had land to grow them! Those of you who have access to the land and grow stuff are really lucky. I used to have a wonderful garden in the UK but sadly no more!

  4. A police office nearly knocked me off my bike trying to stop me by hitting me with a rolled up magazine. That was for driving on a bridge that all motorcycles use. I could hear the other officers saying Falang, Falang. Disgraceful. Nearly knocked me off my bike severely injuring me and damaging my bike for a 100 Baht fine at the time ( 4 years ago) when they have a duty not to cause injury to the citizens that pay their wages. They forget who their masters are.

    No advances in cancer?

I had radiotherapy for prostate cancer over ten years (UK) ago and am still clear of it. It was fairly advanced. I realise that this is one of the more treatable types and I get the impression that cancers caused through smoking do not have a good cure rate. Having said that I know someone who is still going 20 years after having his voice box removed.

I am very happy for you and anyone else that has had longevity after their treatment. However it is not the norm and statistics bear this out. Operations have a higher rate of sucess combined rarely with chemo. It is the very poisonous radiation that is worrying. Even though chemo is poison also.

My main point is that where Burzinski is curing cancer at a better rate than the current chemo and radiation option. People who opt to have that therapy should be allowed to have it without first having chemo and radiation which is the current situation. The FDA and the AMA admit readily to the efficacy and safety of the treatment but will not allow it worldwide as the patent is by an individual and not a big Pharma company. However Burzinski has tried to work with big Pharma also but in the end the opted out and stole his research.

It is happening everywhere. Just look at how the UK is being denied Brexit!

When extensions can be renewed 30 days prior to expiry(45 at some offices) I wonder why anyone would wish to delay renewing until the last minute.

Because it means your money has to season for longer. Money in the bank is based on when you apply, not when your current extension is up. I experienced that on my last application. I had the money in the bank 3 months and 8 days before expiry of extension and applied 2 weeks before expiry. I was told to come back the next week. Despite having a bank printout of all my transactions for the year previous and never having less than 150,000 in the bank.

You can apply on the day it expires too.

It is sensible to apply early as you suggest, but there is no ‘two week expectation’ as far as I know.

This was told to me by the senior officer in Changwattana last year when I changed from family to retirement. As we have both said you can apply as long as your visa is in force but they will tell you two weeks before is expected.

  8. You can apply for an extension any time up to day before expiry. However they dont like it in Immigration. Two weeks is the latest they expect but if you have problems with funds being sent on time then take your chances. If there is a delay you are buggered. If you can show 65K funds going into your account every month for the previous 12 months prior to application then you are ok, or a combination. 800K in the bank 2 months befor "date" of application. Alway's better to hedge on the safe side and have it at least 2.5  tp 3 months before. Things happen, delays ( I have had it before). Don't work to their deadlines. If you want to apply sooner then you have to have the money in sooner.

Regretfully, your anecdotes and Burzynski's reported results (which were not achieved with randomized controlled studies and which other researchers have not been able to replicate) does not trump actual research and proven methods.

There are plenty of people who claim they've been cured of cancer using quackery such as homeopathy as well, but that doesn't mean it actually works. There is such a thing as remission, and it does happen spontaneously.

How to explain this guy?? Around for more than 50 years a Medical doctor, (Dist.) top of his class with a PhD in Biochemistry.

    Quite an educated quak.

By the way the FDA acknowledge the efficacy and safety of his procedures. They just dont like him and want to shut him down.

It’s not a subject that I like to dwell on, but I have seen documentaries about people who have attempted to treat their cancer with alternative approaches other than conventional medicine ... the majority of whom died at the end! I’d do my research but ultimately I’d stick with the best professional advice I could afford.

You are putting your wallet in the hands of a shady second hand car sales man. Go to the guy who is selling the Lamborghini for a reasonable price. It works.

Watch this and ask yourself would you put yourself in his hands or the hands of a doctor paid many perks to sell, and thats what they do, sell you chemo and radiation. You will die within 5 years of chemo and radiation with only a 5% chance of surviving to 5 years. A supposed therapy that is poisonous and will kill you, that is 80 years old? Do you see the changes there have been in 80 years? But not in CANCER cures! Or have there been and still are cures that Big Pharma who pay the FDA don't want you to have? Because of maybe the trillions of dollars Big Pharma make from the therapy and drugs? Take your head out of the sand and watch here. If you survive this painless therapy then there is a good chance that you will continue to live a normal drug free life. As always, up to you. But at least make an informed decision.

No there haven't, you just read that there have been on the internet and automatically believed it, its called being gullible and is not something to be proud of, a simple example for you, how does it make Trump look?  You're no better.

    Stan Meyer, is just one!

Where do you get your information? From the mainstream news? Ha Ha Ha. Maybe JWB, Aaaaa! Fool me once shame on me, fool me twice dhaaaaaa.

The only patients tracked after receiving Gerson therapy have died within 5 years of receiving treatment, there is not one single case of someone being cured of cancer by this odd quackery of injecting people with raw calf liver, receiving enemas and drinking gallons of fruit juice.

Essiac's method has been tested on animals and demonstrated zero cancer cell destroying ability and no known case of a person being cured of cancer using this method.

Burzynski's method was once claimed to have cured 4 people of cancer, however when those 4 people were tracked down 2 were already dead and the other 2 had cancer, there is no evidence of any successes.

Himalayan apricot kernels were trialed with 175 cancer patients and the cancer grew in all patients, there is no evidence that anyone has ever been cured of cancer by eating these kernels.

You cannot "make your body alkaline" without overloading your kidneys to the point of failure, its simply impossible.

"If he has chemo or/radiation he is poisioning his body"

True, that's kind of the idea.  Now just why was it that you recommended those kernels containing that famous poison, cyanide?

"An informed individual" is not one who reads joke websites designed to poke fun at the gullible and then repeats them as if they have been 'researching' some new scientific discovery.

I would suggest to anyone reading your troll post that they inform themselves and check out the Burzyndki movie and Cancer the forbidden cures. I have had much personal experience in this matter.

My eldest sister now in her late seventies and an avid alternative therapist was diagnosed 25 years ago with breast cancer and told that if she did not have immediate Chemo and Radiation that she would be dead within 3 months.

She is still alive some 25 years on.

My sister in law who tried to convince her to have a mastectomy some 24 years ago as she had breast cancer and had a double mastectomy and saif to my sister she felt great. She died two years later as a young and extremely beautiful woman in her early 40's.

My middle sister also with breast cancer underwent chemo last year and a single mastectomy at 65, we shall see how it goes. My best friends wife also has cancer of the womb and throat. She has gone through masses of chemo and radiation over the last 2 years and is expected to die soon.

Dr. Burzynski is the only documented practicioner who has cured brain cancer or glaucoma in adults and children. This after chemo and radiation had failed. ( they will only let him attempt to cure paitents who have been through the toxic chemo and radiation therapies) He is no quak and how dare you say so. His therapy works and big pharma through the AMA have tried many times in court case after court case unsuccessfully to put him out of business. I will allow people on here to determine whom they trust, big pharma and big corporations or a simple doctor trying to cure people of a terrible disease. As for Reene Caisse when she has her 90 birthday bus loads of oeople cured by her came to see her and thank her. That despite her being shut fown many years earlier by big pharma. There have been as many inventors killed for producing free energy devices. Anything that comes between the big corporations and their money. But now people know this, the world has changed and people are awake. You and your likes have no more power here, and you know it.

No issues with your math but IMO the breaker size should be determined by the size of wire in the circuit.  The tables are conservative for that.  Use a smaller breaker if you think it helps something but never more than the wire is rated.

One would hope that the electrician that installed the appliance ensured the correct size cable for the current drawn. However this is thailand and you are correct. One should always ensure that the cable is capable of carrying the current drawn. Thank you for noticing that, breaker protects the cable breaker size is not determined by the size of the cable the breaker is set to the load. The cable is also determined by the size of the load. You could have a 4mm cable but on a 10Amp breaker with no worries.

  14. To understand what size breaker

Look for the wattage on the appliance. Ie 3Kw is 3000 Watts

    Devide by the voltage 240Volts

    3000÷240 = 12.5 Amps.

The nearest breaker is 16 amp.

A C type breaker is normally only used in a circumstance where there is a heavy starting current, like on a motor. Type B is the normal. It will take longer for a C to react to the over current which may cause damage to most common appliances especially electronic.

I agree that there maybe a loose connection on the breaker to cause that burn out.

    Good luck.

At first glance at the OP photo, I thought the two dogs were dead after being shot following this vicious attack. However it looks as though they are merely sleeping.

I am a dog owner, but am completely against this my bpen rai attitude shown by many Thais when it comes to these packs of stray dogs. Simply put, they should be removed from the areas where they congregate and cause a nuisance and euthanized, destroyed, eradicated, killed, call it what you will. Just get rid of the damned problem instead of relocating it

As for the poor lad that they attacked, I hope he recovers fully and is well looked after for this traumatic experience.

Thai's don't mind killing or jailing a person for committing such an offence or just having cannibis but when it comes to an animal???? No go area.

I wish the boy well and a full recovery.

As an American who lived through the Vietnam war I am not considering that an option based on memories. I have also looked at this hard as a possibility. Cambodia is the easiest option. Specifically Siam Reap which is somewhat like Pattaya going back fifteen years. Cambodia makes long stay easy without all the financial requirements. In the end I have decided just to transfer in enough to meet the 800k requirement and continue living in Thailand, at least for now. I've been here too long to make the move unless I am forced out. I also have family here. If I had to go the best option I have found is Siam Reap Cambodia. It is also very close and a short flight. Tourist town like Pattaya with lots of low rental apartments and houses. Lots of Western food. Cost of living is very low there.

£5 for a bottle of Jim Beam when I went about 3 years ago. Cheap as chips.

  17. MCB's can be faulty too. They can be checked by a very good electrician but I would replace that MCB as it is easier and cheaper. If MCB's short many times then they should be replaced as they may become inaccurate or the terminals may weld together. In fact the reccomendation is to replace after a single short. No one does that however and I do not see the need to do that.

I agree that an double pole RCD be fitted in place of of your breaker as it will ensure a greater level of safety on all circuits. You need to have an electrician do this as sometimes you may have circuits with leakage current or faults that the current system will not detect and a good electrician will be able to resolve those issues should they arise.

I am a fully qualified NICEIC electrical contractor and part P installer.
