  1. Has anyone bought in (A) Pattaya or (B) Bangkok 18650 genuine batteries from Samsung (25R), LG (HG2). I would appreciate any name / address of same. As after searching through Lazada and Shopee, none of the dealers guarantee genuine originals of the two above.

  2. Have to agree on the superiority of the Everest 2.0 10 speed gear over the Fortuner. I changed from the previous model of Fortuner having taken a test drive in the later model with the cooler in the dash. Just sitting in the Everest and adjusting it to your satisfaction, you can feel that everything you need is at hand. My Everest is starting on it's third year and hasn't had any problems with 3, 15K  services completed. I bought in Bkk as the choices and offers are better there.

  3. Having been reading all the negatives about Ford servicing and under-performing mechanics, I have to relate my recent experiences with Ford over my Everest.

There was a recent recall over engine setup software and I asked while this was being done for the Sync 3 to be updated as I had seen from both the US and Oz, they  had received updates. The update (3.4) was duly applied  and the map section at last showed the extension to M7 that ended in Ban Amphur. A couple of days later I noticed using the USB as the music source, it would revert to the FM upon engine start as against the original version which would restart from the player / point you shut down the engine at. Ford sent out their (so called) rapid response team to sort out the problem and repeatedly checked - All was OK for me. I have to say, having been a Fortuner and Captiva owner I have never had so much attention from the brand to sort out a problem with their product. I should say that I had emailed Ford Thailand previously (twice) querying the best Ford servicing unit because of all the complaints I was reading re the local dealer. So bottom line, this attention / detail to customer complaints / requests, has really impressed me. The moral of the story I guess is query / complain directly to local HQ - not the local dealer.

  4. After a close look at the units available with Thaicarpenter, I had another look at those available on Lazada and decided to go with the more versatile Lazada version (pic enclosed) for similar cost - but a longer wait. Just notified today it has arrived Bkk. Thanx for the suggestions.

  5. Thanx for that. I looked at Lazada and Shopee as well but was trying to buy locally rather than a 2 week wait for delivery. Maybe I should have asked if the is a real DIY shop around Pattaya that stock a wide range of DIY tools rather than the big stores.

  6. I'm based in Sattahip but went to Bkk to purchase my 2.0 litre 10 gear Everest. Because from purchasing 3 previous cars in Thailand, I've discovered that the best deals are available in Bkk without having to resort to mega haggling. As the service book says service interval is 15,000 kms and free service (not including parts) for 5 years, I return to Bkk dealer to do the service. In my case having bought the car 19 months ago, I brought it for the first service in January. Having booked the car in a week before heading to Bkk the service dept. called the day before to remind me and 2 days following to check if all was ok. So for me, great service and as I asked the dealer for an English manual, I received both a Thai and an English version. BTW I did visit 3 Ford dealers in Bkk and looked at their service area before choosing.
