Thanks to all you fellow golfers who have avoided Phoenix Golf & Country Club since November 1st. I know it is a struggle for those of you who relish playing there , but you have to remain strong to the principle of right and wrong.

How strange that our situation seems to mimic the country's!

nocklaus you should move to the sunny south-east where you have a choice of 18-20 courses within 1 hours drive with reasonable rates except for the new rates at Phoenix Gold Golf & Country Club where the new management have yet to see sense.

For those brother golfers avoiding Phoenix until sense returns and looking for good alternative courses in the area, both Eastern Star and Green Valley are giving great discounts for PSC members even during this high season.

The answer is yes. It is perverted logicto think that playing with reduced numbers will get the message across to Phoenix management.

The only way to show the management that we are serious is to remain away until sense prevails.

What would poor old Arthur Scargill have to say about these renegades?

The message today shareholders / members of Phoenix Golf & Country Club is continue with the avoidance of the club as the legal situation is ongoing and

the reaction from The Consumer Protection Board is that what the new owners have done is totally illegal.

They are awaiting an answer from the new owners before taking it further.

The word from the mouth of the GM is " Do Not Pay This Demand ". So the current situation for us shareholders / members is do not pay and await the outcome of the legal approach.

How many of you Phoenix Shareholders / Members have received a demand for Baht 24,000 annual maintainance from November 1, 2013 to October 31, 2014.

It seems the Consumer Protection Board in Thailand has teeth. They have managed to reverse decisions made by new course owners regarding older / existing shareholders / members.

Just learned the Tanya Tanee case was settled out of court with the old members retaining all their old privileges and compensation.

It only applied to the members named in the action.

Any TV members have information about a similiar situation to Phoenix's that happened at Tanya Tanee in Pathum Thani?

I'm again requesting if anybody out there knows of a Thai Members group at Phoenix or even an individual.

The members and interested golfers who have been working on a solution and anyone interested in helping out, are meeting in the Relax Bar in Ban Amphur Monday 25/11/2013 at 18:00 to discuss further action, for all of you who are interested in a reasonable outcome to this.

The Relax Bar is down the same soi as Phrompong Condo and Club 1, i.e. coming from Sattahip, the first left after the traffic lights at Ban Amphur inter section.

I was referring to local golf news especially in reference to Phoenix Golf & Country Club. Again I refer to the societies / groups that used to play at Phoenix but are no longer playing there. If you are or know of golfers that are avoiding Phoenix please let me know. We need as many members as possible and visiting golfers from societies / groups to join in this rejection of penal changes / charges.

What has happened to all you society golfers? I thought at least some of you regular Pattaya golfers might have a thought or two on the Phoenix situation.

We are attempting to keep golf at Phoenix Golf & Country Club at a reasonable rate for all golfers using this course.

Please let us hear your thoughts and information on societies / groups avoiding Phoenix currently.

The demand notes from Phoenix Golf & Country Club have arrived looking for Baht 24,000 by the end of December while completely ignoring

the letters sent by the members. It may be time for a stronger reaction from members before all is lost.

How many of you golfers that played Phoenix with societies / bars are no longer booking tee-times here.

It would be very useful to have an idea of numbers avoiding the course when we get to " negotiate " with the club to return to sensible rules and charges.

Letters from group members sent to Directors of Phoenix Golf and Country Club Pattaya Co., Ltd. notifying them that the charges and changes made by them from November 1st, are unacceptable and illegal for member / shareholders. These charges / changes having been made without consultation with the members / shareholders. Until resolution of this problem, the majority of member groups and local visiting groups are avoiding playing at Phoenix.

750 baht weekdays, 1050 baht weekends / holidays

To anybody looking for an alternative to Phoenix at the moment, Eastern Star has a good deal going for PSC members after 12 noon.

Played Khao Kheo with the Poppy Day Appeal on Friday and attended the presentations at Tavern by the Sea on Saturday where the golfers I spoke to were aware of the situation at Phoenix and stated they would not be playing there until the situation was resolved.

Had a cup of coffee outside the restaurant today Sunday from 11:00am until just after 12:00 noon. Watched approx. 14 compulsory carts head to the 1st tee during that time. Took a stroll that encompassed part of Mountain, Lake and Ocean and saw that the 3 courses were virtually deserted.

Hopefully we'll have some good news back from the management soon...

I went to my lawyer today with my share certificate, transfer document and the 6 page letter from Phoenix detailing the changes they were initiating. Having read above she noted there was no mention of change of Directors and asked if I had received minutes of meeting 1 or meeting 2 as they are obliged by law to provide.

Lacking this information we headed to the DBD office in Banglamung ( the Thai equivalent of “The Companies Office” ). Here after purchasing 225 photocopies of the share register, we were able to establish the following:

1. Phoenix Golf & Country Club Pattaya Co. Ltd. Was registered on March 19, 2511 (1968)
2. Total shareholders ……… 1252
3. Thai shareholders ……… 697
4. Foreign shareholders …… 555
5. The change of Directors occurred on 23 September 2556 (2013)
6. There are four Directors: (Phonetic spelling direct from written Thai) Mrs. Janya Sawangjit Mrs. Somsri Charoensiriwat Miss Rattana Tripipatkhun Mr. Tongchai Tripipatkhun

1. Also got a copy of shareholders rights in Thailand which will take a bit of translating.

By law we (the shareholders) should have received minutes from these meetings to make us aware of intended changes but we ALL as members can go into the registered office of Phoenix Golf & Country Club Pattaya Co. Ltd. now transferred to the clubhouse and demand a copy.

At least the other clubs around Pattaya appear to have sense and are keeping their high season prices the same as last year or even less as Eastern Star have actually reduced their prices after midday for both weekdays and weekends.

I walked the 1st, 2nd and 9th holes of the newly opened Ocean course on Friday and found them to be unready for proper play with wide gaps between the resodding. I would say the course requires at least a month for settling and regrowth.
