  1. I'm considering to buy a Yamaha Nmax and would like to hear from Nmax owners how their experience has been so far.

I considered a PCX as well but the ABS braking, and the 13K premium above official Honda price on a PCX at Mityon, made me consider the Nmax instead.

So please let me know if you were happy with your purchase.

Thailand Post has a special waiver from the Customs Department that allows it to deliver small packages valued at less than B1,500 without collecting import duty and VAT due to the large volume of small, low value packages arriving from abroad.  The courier companies don't have this privilege and must charge duty and VAT on the full landed cost (including freight and insurance charges) on all packages.

It is not mentioned in the article whether this policy entails any change to this policy.  I hope not.  Going after Lazada should be simple enough, since Lazada seems to be effectively acting as a middle man ordering stuff from Aliexpress or similar suppliers in China by post and delivering them to Thai customers.  They can just target all the parcels addressed to Lazada's depot and lift the waiver on small parcels on the basis that it is a large volume business actually ordering commercial quantities but in piecemeal packages.  Then the Thai consumers could still order exactly the same products on Aliexpress for themselves without paying tax, assuming that the item is less than B1,500 or it is small enough not to excite suspicion and the vendor marks the value down, which Chinese vendors normally do as a matter of course. But most Thai consumers would not do this because they cannot read English or Chinese and Lazada is in Thai.  Lazada also has another advantage in that you can return the stuff to their Thai warehouse, even though it came from China.  China post is much cheaper than Thailand Post and the cost of returning defective or wrong products to Aliexpress vendors in China would be prohibitive and the product descriptions on Lazada and Aliexpress are often wildly inaccurate, which can mean you receive something completely useless.   Personally I use Aliexpress more than Lazada as it has much a greater range of products but I usually order small items and am prepared to write them off, if they are wrong, but that would not suit most Thai consumers.

I think the limit is 1000 Baht instead of 1500 Baht and is also valid for the courier companies.

Group 1 : Exempted from duty items, which are the items that follow below criteria.

    1. Postal items sent by mail and the value of each dose not exceed 1,000 baht.
    2. Trade samples of no commercial value. The Customs Officers will deliver such items to Thailand Post for further distribution to the consignees at the stated address on the postal items.

I order quite a lot from China which is shipped by Kerry express and DPEX, and everything valued under $30  comes in without duty. Anything above that amount has autoamtically the customs bill added to it.

I say "valued" under $30, because even orders from over $100 come in without questions asked with these couriers as long as the invoice isn't above $30. The same applies to DHL and Fedex

Lazada has taxes already included in their prices for items shipped from abroad, you only don't see them on the bill.

Proof is that while Lazada is owned by Alibaba, the same item on Lazada can be ordered from the same seller on Aliexpress ( also owned by Alibaba) or Ebay at a cheaper price.

Reason is because if you order from those sites import duties are the buyers responsibility

Not every road can have lights every 50 metres.  That's why cars have headlights!

Negligence and stupidity  are the cause of almost all road crashes/ Incidents, not a lack of lights, or signage, or anything external to the car, and more specifically, external to the driver.

You must live in denial, may be too long in Thailand, because road works in Thailand are really a disaster.

Road works should ALWAYS have adequate signage and lightning, which I rarely see in Thailand.

I'm very familiar with the road works in question in the OP, and am surprised that not more deaths have been accounted for yet, because in a civilized country the signage contractor would be in jail for attempted murder.

Good website but despite putting my thai address in the forms once i clicked on paypal it automatically has decided to deliver to my UK address. D_mn-it; 4 quid wasted unless I can get the transaction unstitched!

    Back to the drawing board!

    (2) Send an email to [email protected]. In the email, please suggest the product code, product size, quantity (e.g. CA0505 Ethyl Alcohol 96% 1Liter x 2pcs.). Please also include your personal information e.g. your name, phone number, email, shipping address.

And then you simply ask them to send a PP invoice to your account. I do this all the time with websites that automatically divert to you registered PP address

My neighbour has construction going on now, today there were 10 thai men and they made 40 6 meter long concrete poles in his soil all 6 meters deep...they did it ALL by hand with very long scoops on 8 meter poles....seemed very easy and we have very tough clay.

I had never seen thai men work that hard.

    Am I missing something?

They dug 6 meter deep holes by hand?

For sure he would never consider that, knowing that a jail sentence of many years is hanging above his head like a sword of Damocles.

How about confiscating his passport instead?

If you have "personal reasons" for not obtaining and using a Thai CC (despite the fact that you apparently have Foreign base Cards) then I guess you will just have to accept being "ripped off" for 25 Stangs or so every time you shop.

    Really?

So according to you the new law says that without a credit card you can't receive correct change on your purchases anymore.

I must have missed that somewhere.

You are wrong , you don't need a credit card but a bank ATM debit card. It will work in all the shops in Thailand.  I use Kasikorn for shopping  and you can too if you apply for it. Or Bangkok bank or any other bank .

Then no more worries and you will save a lot of satangs ....right?

Sorry to disappoint you but I have no ATM nor a Credit Card in Thailand, and I have my personal reasons for that, which I not gonna explain here.

But you mean that now everyone is forced to get either an ATM, debit or Credit card if he wants to receive the correct change when he goes shopping.......right?

I must have missed that new law.

I agree it's not necessarily easy for a Foreigner to get a Credit Card in Thailand, depending on the Bank etc., but it's definitely not impossible, you just need to shop around.

Plus, who pays "extra" to use a Credit Card to shop for groceries?! I use my AMEX and Visa Cards several times a month at Tesco and Villa etc. and have never been charged a Fee by them, it's a cost the Vendor bears.

    Patrick

If you use your foreign credit card your card company or bank will charge a fee on top of the exchange rate.

At least my Master card does.

  10. Why don't you get yourself an Android box with Kodi installed?

All AFL games are available for free in HD replay on the AFL video addon, but you have to use a Aussie vpn. There are other free Kodi addons that provide the AFL games in replay for free without a vpn.

All Live games are available through free addons as well, however that may require some playing around to get the best quality stream, or on the AFL video addon if you have an AFL pass.

Pay by Credit Card - problem solved.

    Patrick

Did you realise that most foreigners in Thailand are unable to get a Thai credit card, unless they freeze a significant sum of money with the bank, and why would anyone pay an extra credit card cost to shop for groceries?

Now this is news, that Big C is owned by one person. :cheesy: Who is that exactly?

It is definitely no news that you use every opportunity to show your assumed superiority by making some hair splitting posts, isn't that called trolling by the way,  but my understanding is that most who know you don't take your posts at any value.

    To answer your question

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_C

Groupe Casino SA agreed in February 2016 to sell its stake in Thai hypermarket operator Big C for €3.1 billion (US$3.46 billion) to Thai billionaire, Mr Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi. His holding company, TCC Group, will buy Casino's 58.6 percent stake in Big C Thailand for 252.88 baht a share (US$7.10), a price that values Big C close to US$5.86 billion.

And that is just the point of my thread, however I agree that satangs is silly money, it better comes from a mountain than from a molehill.

The owner of Big C is one of the richest people in Thailand, may be not rich enough in his eyes?

But why do you not want the rights of British citizens currently living in other EU states protected post Brexit?

Because as I understand it it was a right they gained when they joined the EU, so why it should be protected post Brexit.

You can't have one rule for some and another rule for others.

And The Guest already posted the solution.

I'm sure the approx. 1.5 million Brits currently working or retired in other EU countries would like to have their futures secured and not be forced to give up their jobs and homes post Brexit.

I'm sure that the millions of Brits who holiday in other EU countries each year would like to continue to be able to do so without the hassle of obtaining visas first. Especially those who, like my wife and I recently, decide on a whim to pop over to Paris for the weekend.

BTW, the EU is not an 'unelected dictatorship.' All EU laws are made by elected representatives in the European Parliament or by representatives of each member's elected government in the Council.

All those Brexiteers should have taken this in consideration before they voted, as you can't eat from two walls all the time.

I hope Verhofstadt's suggestion will be forgotten about.

They have a special word for it in Thailand, it sounds like Som nam naa

  16. Nobody worries about 50 satang, and neither do I, if I drop 50 satang by mistake I won't even bend over to pick it up, but it is my freedom to decide if I give someone 50 satang or not.

Though the correct business etiquette would be that either the shopkeeper adjust the total to the benefit of the customer who has made him already a profit of much more than a few satang, or adjust his price tags so that there isn't any need for satang coins at the check out.

I aslo didn't mention Makro, Tesco or Rimping in my OP, and definitely not any store in Chiang Mai for those who haven't figured out yet that this is the PATTAYA forum.

Do you have a link to that court ruling? If you have in mind the ruling that Sky and BT can block streams, this has nothing to do with the legality as mentioned in the other thread

With the ruling Sky and BT don't need a court order to block a server IF the server is located in the UK and IF they can trace the server in the first place.

3pm games are available on kodi every Saturday, though the source isn't Sky or BT as they are not allowed to have streams at those times.

Most of the Kodi addons use servers outside the UK, how they ever gonna block them?

Big C are being rather naughty at best if they are rounding down their change. However if they are rounding it up the OP is on a winner and should shop there every day ( oh look, he does go everyday). How long will it take the OP to save up his extra satangs to buy a big bottle of Leo, or would everyone following the thread lose the will to live first?

I have made clear repeatedly already that I don't get poorer of that 75 satang, even if it happens every day, I only posted my observations and that I don't consider it proper etiquette for a business like a supermarket.

I also realise that 75 satang is nothing to you, as it is to me or Big C, so would you mind to send me 75 satang every day?

I suggest you put it only in my account once every 2 months, as to save you the hassle of running to the bank every day, and if each TVF member who considers 75 satang not worth talking about does this then I'm gonna be a very happy chappie.

  19. The answer

    NO

They can only block streams from UK based servers, and even then they first have to locate them.

Take in mind that for 3pm streams none of the media mentioned are involved, as my understanding is that at that time they are not allowed to broadcast.

You may also want to have a read in this thread.
