As it is their fault that they can't provide your 15.75 Baht change, you should receive 16 Baht. I'm guessing that you were given only 15 Baht.

I'm sure there is a genuine shortage of those tiny coins. They must cost more to produce than they are worth.

Your guess is right, and as I say that I shop there on a daily basis, this happens almost every day for the past 2 months.

It is only 25, 50 or 75 Satang, which will not make me poorer, but it is the same value for them and at the end of the day I have already given them my business so they have earned already on it.

I would not worry about it,much bigger things to worry about,

i have shopkeepers give me a sweet if they dont have 25 or 50

stang coins, things must be getting quite bad for you if you have

worry about them,I do worry if I hand over a 1000 THB note, that

    I get my correct change.

Did I say that I worry about 25 or 50 satang?

You noticed that I wrote in the OP that I didn't make a statement to avoid ASSumptions from the keyboard warriors.

But as you claim, I indeed worry that I get my CORRECT change.

  3. I shop at Big C extra on a daily base, and for the past 2 months they claim to have run out of 25 and 50 satang coins, however virtually every item in their store has a price label ending on .25 or .50.

When the "shortage" started they had a printed sign at check out counters announcing it, but lately they don't bother any more.

I can understand that this "inconvenience" can happen to any major store, but 2 months is a bit over the top in my opinion.

Now to avoid being slagged off by the TVF keyboard warriors, which are laying in the woods for such an opportunity, I'm not gonna make any claims just ask your opinion.

If my bill is 884.25 Baht is, as it was today, and I hand over 1000 Baht what change should I receive taken in account that they have no 25 or 50 Satang coins any more.

I know how they calculated their change in case of a total bill ending on .25, which is almost every day given their prices are marked in such a way, I only want to know what you think is the correct way.

I realise that we are talking about 25 and 50 satang, which has the same value for both parties involved.

Apply tea tree oil to any cut, has anti bacterial, anti fungal properties, cheap and works !

What a shame that nobody in the hospital contacted the TV doctors, because the man would still be alive, and all that for as little as 15 Baht and a TV membership

  5. What's the Thai owners problem? If you have always paid on time there shouldn't be any, unless he tries to scam you of course, and all this was set up.

To find a guarantor for a finance with an official finance company is easy peasy, in the past when I bought new cars on finance I always used one or another bar girl as guarantor and never had an issue.

Take note I don't have  a work permit or any official income in Thailand.

Apisak assured the audience that the election would be held next year after the Royal cremation of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the coronation of HM King Maha Vajiralongkorn later this year.

Or in other words, the election for sure will not be held before any of the aforementioned events, but even if the elections are held 10 years later he's still correct.

It will be AFTER the events.

Iroko is indeed a nice teak-like wood, can you get it here? Price compared to local teak?

I don't know if it is available here, but since it is quoted at a third of the price of teak, I wouldn't be surprised if in Thailand it is sold as teak.

Would you be able to distinguish it from real teak if it was masked as teak?

From the U9 review you can see that right NOW it may not be much better ( or even a little worse) in terms of video playback quality - this is due to the S9122 amlogic mentioned... and is why the U9 has been delayed so long... and much longer than other brands who just threw out a s912 box anyway and let their customers suffer.

As a seller of these boxes I can testify that ALL renowned brands that released a S912 box have NOT let their customers suffer.

Instead all of them have had firmware dates at an average of 1 update every 3 weeks since release, yet have not been able to solve all the issues.

Why you think Minix will be better at that?

The S912 is a disaster if you want to use Kodi at least, no other words for that, and you can have a look at the comments regarding the U9 that are on the Minix forum already.

Yeah I'm just giving it a spin really. That said I've heard far more glowing reviews about Minix than bad.

My first pet peeve with Minix is that you can buy Android boxes of renowned brands  with the exact same specs and performance at half the price. And they also get the required OTA firmware updates.

My major issue however is that a X8 H -plus will be a doorstop when the Kodi third party addon devs stop supporting Kodi 16.1, which will happen inevitably at some point in the near future, since Minix doesn't upgrade the firmware to Android 5.0.

If I had bought a M8S, or whatever other third of the price device, I would have a custom firmware available for download already. But for the Minix, so far no custom ROM available yet.

Third issue is that technology in this kind of devices changes at such a fast pace that the most sophisticated box on the  market today will be old news, and probably redundant like a Minix X8 H plus with Android 4.4 is today, in less than 2 years.

    I rather have a 3000 Baht paperweight than a 6000 Baht one.

On my new (2 yr old) passport, the signature is digitised from the application form and on the photo page.

Yes this is so with a officially issued passport, but with a temporary passport everything is in hand writing, as shown from the copy they mailed me a few minutes ago.

They included an official letter which states that this passport was issued to me by the embassy.

  11. The Minix U9-H has a Amlogic S912 processor, so far I'm not aware of single device with that processor that doesn't has lots of issues, and there are plenty of devices.

Other than that, my first box I bought several years ago was a Minix X8 - H plus, and it was also the last Minix box I will ever own for the reasons that you mention above.

Some will say it's good they issue firmware updates, I say if it isn't broken it doesn't need a fix.

The Minix A2 lite air mouse in contrary is the best remote on the market, so I guess the A3 will be similar.

One spotty graduate at Maybank sticks a finger in the air and thats news ?

When I look at how the Baht has performed since that spotty graduate put his finger up in the air, I guess he must have wetted it to feel which side the wind was blowing from.

  13. My extension based on retirement needs to be renewed on 10 March at the latest.

Since my current passport expires in August I applied for a new passport on 20 February with the promise that it would take 10 working days.

Because of circumstances beyond my control the passport isn't issued yet.

My embassy has agreed to immediately  issue a 1 year temporary passport.

Can I apply for a new extension with that temporary passport?

Since the embassy tells me they can't stop the application for the new passport, it will probably arrive next week, so what happens with the extension already in the temporary passport when the new passport arrives next week?

Any other suggestions to solve this issue?

Additionally, since I can't get in Bangkok in time, the temporary passport will be issued without my signature. How will immigration respond to that??
