  1. Beside the here already mentioned, Mexico offers easy access to neighbouring countries Panama, Kolombia, Belize with open borders and access to USA by land (!vaccine pass will come!), Mexicans are not as much hysteric as the Asians and they do not follow always the set rules...too much red tape and control for foreigners in Thailand.
You could also say that Asia is perceived as more charming than Latin America. Mexican restaurants are expensive in comparison to those in Asia.

Each country needs to decide on its priorities. Panama has had about 1,400 deaths from Covid-19 per million population. A similar death toll in Thailand would mean almost 100,000 deaths instead of the current 94. I personally agree that saving almost 100,000 lives of your citizens is worth restrictions on tourism. Others might have a different sense of the priorities.

There is no guarantee that their numbers of Covid-19 deaths are correct.

You will not need a criminal record check to apply for a certificate of entry (COE).

You apply online for it. See: https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/

Probably easiest route is to enter visa exempt that allows a 45 day entry if you qualify for one. It can be extended for 30 days. Or a single entry tourist visa. With either of them you can apply for a non-o visa at immigration.

I think if I arrive in Thailand with the option "Visa exempt" and then apply for the non-O visa, the Thai immigration service could ask for this certificate?

No, a minority of hotels do a test on the day you arrive (at the hotel, not the airport), the majority on around day 5. This may change after 1 April of course.

That will be checked multiple times by multiple people prior to departure and on landing - as Dan stated, you won't even get a COE without it.

I wonder if it is allowed to decide whether to use the nose or throat for the tests?

Visitors must therefore first expose themselves to the risk of vaccination, knowing that vaccination does not prevent themselves from being re-infected, before they are allowed to enter the country. This is more to increase the number of vaccinations and their importance than to protect the country from the virus.

    Hey

What's the best online broker for long term investing into stock and mutual funds for Thai residents? I'm Norwegian but I live in Thailand.

A lot of people seem to recommend Interactive Brokers. Are they a good choice? Does IB report your activity directly to the Thai tax authorities/agencies?

I have heard that they do not accept foreigner living out of their country...

I replied to a post you did in another topic here. https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1184735-retirement-visas-in-thailand/?do=findComment&comment=15861396

Details are unknown at this time but appears they are going to allow people with non immigrant visas to enter the country by applying for a certificate of entry at a embassy or consulate.

At this time you would need $100.000 of corvid 19 insurance coverage, get a corvid 19 test and go into 14 days of quarantine after arriving.

Where to buy the insurance coverage?
