Frozen pension policy turns British expat's dream into a nightmare
Lancelot01 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Not quite true. I know of several Brits who have 'retired' in Thailand but return to UK regularly for free health checks, minor and major operations, collect prescribed medication etc.. -

Isn't that the point of the police visits? The ensure correct documentation. If a foreigner, renting a car or motorbike, is caught in breach of the law, the rental company will be open to prosecution. -

Both me and my brother had this many years ago. Once identified, we had a strict course of medication over a 10 day period and, thankfully, the condition has never reoccurred.

I thought that when I was in Pattaya a few weeks ago. It strikes me that the trees were 'trimmed' to enable the beach vendors to charge a little extra for their beach umbrellas.

Same here, I dropped from 85kg two years ago to 64kg with the help of exercise and Keto. I'm still 64/66kg and eat as much low carb foods as I like. I dine out regularly and I seldom feel hungry. Further, I am no longer required to take any medication for blood pressure, cholesterol. An upside of this regime is a reduction in my medical and travel insurance premiums.

Do you think the government really cares who has invested in this industry? If they decide to close the 'loophole' regarding recreational use they will. As I have said in the past, from my observations most of the stores are empty of customers throughout the day and/or reducing their opening hours. As for 'paying off senators, are you advocating a form of illegal bribery?

I had a cataract operation on each eye in UK one year apart. On both occasions I was sent home within a hour or so from the procedure. No immediate requirement for aftercare. The hospitals advice was, unless anything untoward happens, I didn't need to see the surgeon until approx one month after the procedure.

Shocked at Prices for Flights in December 2024
Lancelot01 replied to pj123's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
You are right, since covid there are fewer airlines coming to Thailand. Airlines like BA codeshare their Bangkok flights, in their case with Qatar Airways, which means fewer aircraft arrivals, but each flight is full. Hence the airlines can charge what they like because they know their aircraft will be full.
