    Hey guys,

A few years ago I released the property I had in the UK and put all the contents of the house in to storage. A few years have now passed and its about at that point where I have probably spent more than the stuff is now actually worth.

So, sentimental value aside, what would you do ? Keep going awhile longer or burn that last bridge ? With it there it would be very easy to set up home again if ever I had to return for some reason. I am unsure and would like some others input and thoughts please.

If it was to be finished it would probably just go to charity and local dump as not all can be given. There is of course Ebay and sell it as a job lot etc or keep on for another 12 month and re-assess then ?

    What do you think ?

    Thanks

I was in a similar position. After 8 years storage I realised I could have probably replaced almost everything new.

I decided to remove everything. I kept personal items, documents, papers etc. a few items were sold or given away and the remainder was collected by a charity shop.

It was one of those situations whereby 'if you haven't worn or used something for two years or more, do you really need it'.

“With re-opening the country, we have to think of the safety of our citizens as priority,” Mr Yuthasak said.

“The TAT has publicized to foreign tourists that they have to quarantine for 14 days before traveling [within the country], but I do think that the quarantine period being reduced may make it easier for foreign tourists to make the decision to come,” Mr Yuthasak added.

Yet he still expects possibly 10,000 in the next 5 weeks, or 2,000 a week, or 285 a day.  Seems like they are still being quite optimistic.  I personally do not see it as the flights are still limited and lockdowns are going up in many places.  But then maybe they will all be Chinese, already vaccinated and hauling in 3 large suitcases full of cash.

Those suitcases will attract a further THB20 charge each when the owners take a taxi from the airport now.

  3. I'm not sure where this query belongs but I would appreciate pertinent replies.

I have been trying to get answers from Krungsri Bank, my bank, regarding their Foreign Currency Account (FCA).

I am currently in UK with little or no chance of returning to LoS in the near future.

I usually reside in Hua Hin by way of permission to stay based on retirement.

I would like to convert THB in my account to GBP and hold the proceeds in a FCA. This will enable me to hedge my funds for the next few months.

Having looked at my account at the Krungsri online website I cannot see where such a transaction can be made.

Has any member had a similar request?

It is not the same for everybody, you have to go to the department of land and show tabien baan.

someone I know bought a piece of land (nor sor 3 kor title) then built a house, then went to Department of Land for house registration, the man said the house was illegally built, this title doesn't allow to build on surface, now he got a warning they want demolish his house! Amazing, the guy who built his house is not picking up the phone.

If I am not wrong the leasee doesn't need to pay anything besides the lease contract, the owner is responsible, but probably it depends on what was agreed.

Many thanks for your reply. Most useful.

In the beginning Thaksin did a lot of good for Thai people, woke up the Civil service

so you could get things done in a day,not a week, introduce free health service for Thais

and Farangs, really took action against drug dealers,(killing them maybe went too far),

BUT...then he realised rolling out populist policies  for the poor, meant he did not have

to spend his own money to buy votes, and would always win elections,I am not sure

if he really wanted to really help the poor,or just a political ploy, but the poor of Isan

maybe felt for the first time someone cared about their plight.

Then ,as power does it corrupted him, like our friend in America I think he would

loved to become a dictator, that's what power does to you.

    regards worgeordie

    Sums it up about right.
