So a Ponzi is fair too? Somebody promises that everybody becomes super rich and at the end only few become rich because everything was a huge lie. But the people decided (democratic) that they give the money. Or the grandma who was cheated by a fake policeman. But she decided to give him her money from her free will. All could find in the internet that they will be cheated but everything sounds so real, so they believe everything. Same as the Brexiteers.

Can you repeat in plain English? After three readings I still do not understand your point.

    Anything involving alcohol or tobacco.

    Most restaurant prices.

Almost all imported individual items, with the exception of commodities which have an internationally fixed price.

    6lt Tesco water was B35 now B40.

Soup veg pack B29 now B35.

Expats are in fact one of the golden geese of Thailand. Do the math, if each one, spends 100 dollars a week, thats a sizable hunk for the economy.  So, why kill this golden goose?

And if each retiree has between THB400.000 - 800,000 locked into their bank account, it's a nice 'foreign asset' for the government if the retirees cannot utilise those funds.

They tend to be very harsh on crimes against property in Thailand, theft etc.

Harsh!? They're just not as stupid & liberal as they are in the West!

"Under the Criminal Code of Thailand, whoever dishonestly takes away any thing that belongs to another person shall be imprisoned for three years and shall pay a fine of 6,000 Baht".

And even more 'in the hours of darkness'

    I fly Business everywhere.

Qarar and Emirates Business class is almost always full because the people flying those 2 airlines have the cash for Business

Qatar is a great airline, fly them frequently.

Except for Qatar's current prices, check and see. My recent enquiries for business class to / from UK with Qatar were +/- GBP 600 more expensive.

I am sure someone will be selling them. Personally, I always make sure I have a few dollars in my wallet, purchased at regular rates, rather than putting myself in a position of being extorted to buy dollars at 50 baht to the dollar, but up to you.

I thought that too until the Immigration refused to accept the notes. I had to negotiate a clean $10 outside for THB200.

KittenKong- Thanks you have enlightened me about going to eat at the floating restaurants on the pier at Pattaya as well as going to Koh Larn for the day. I wasn't aware of that. When I saw the huge crowds of Chinese racing to the boats it was in the late afternoon so I don't think they were headed to Koh Larn at that time. Some could have been going to eat at the floating restaurants.

The Pattaya - Hua Hin ferry usually leaves at 13.00, so presumably large groups of passengers would have to congregate on the pier approximately 11.00 - 12.00 not late afternoon.

I was at CW Wed. The place was packed. The side where they do extensions and work visas....every seat taken and lots of people standing.

Not sure when the exodus is suppose to take place...but it wasn't this week.

Maybe because, from what I am aware, June is the final month that embassy confirmation letters from US, UK AUS etc., can be used as confirmation of income.

If 70 per cent of the hotels are closed, will there be enough hotel rooms left? Once the legal hotel rooms are filled up, where are people going to stay?

It might be good for the hotel industry, but all of the people not arriving because they have nowhere to stay won't be good for other businesses.

When my friend checked out of a large hotel on Pattaya Klang last month (+/- 180 rooms) he was told by the hotel receptionist that after he left the hotel would be empty. No guests and no immediate forward reservations.

It's been rising since the floods of 2011.

    - Nature attempts to claim back the farmlands bringing silt and gooey-glop to the auto-plants.  Royal Thai govt. extends tax-holiday and other subsidies in an effort to restart the auto-plants.

    - At about the same time, Kiwi dollar commences it's lower-rates cycle. (Currently, Kiwi rates on par with Aussie and lower than Looney and the Greenback.)

In response to the above 2, Japanese money-centers switch from +Kiwi /-Yen to +THB/-JPY.

A strengthening THB attracts the weaker Euros, Brexiters into Thai "property" or THB strengthening the THB further.

Looks like the THB is very tightly wound.  And could stay wound for a very long time, perhaps a decade from here.

Or it could unwind tomorrow, suddenly like it did in 1997 when lacking foreign reserves to support the peg (25 to the dollar), the THB was floated, bringing Hedge-Funds into the picture, driving down the THB to 56 to the dollar in 6 months.

    Hedge your bets?
