While no linkage is clearly stated it feels like this "Declaration of Endemicity" is tied to the current "Emergency Decree."
And my speculation is that they do not want to give up the Emergency Decree "crutch", ergo still epidemic.
Endemicity Is Meaningless
The coronavirus will be with us forever. But we still have no idea what happens next.Endemicity promises exactly none of this. Really, the term to which we’ve pinned our post-pandemic hopes has so many definitions that it means almost nothing at all. What lies ahead is, still, a big uncertain mess, which the word endemic does far more to obscure than to clarify.

They don't want to give up their stranglehold until after the election.
Looks like I'll continue spending my 'holiday' funds on Spain's sunny Costa Del Sol.

Crime is up all over the world this place will not be exempt. In fact, I fear it will increase as more people come and want to release all that pent up frustration over the past 2 years. Getting drunk and crazy and confrontational will be on the agenda for idiots
As I read the article, it does state that the doormen caused the trouble. There was no indication of confrontation.

Same here, that's why I'm enjoying the south of Spain instead of Thailand.
The only requirement here is to complete a Passenger Locator Form online 48 hoirs before leaving and you need to wear masks inside public buildings.

The west have other issues to deal with now, stopping Putin from going over the top.
Thailand seem only concerned with themselves and their damned tourism.

Asked 'Mr. Google'... "Thailand welcomed nearly 37,000 Saudis in 2019...", so why should 200,000 Saudis flock to Thailand? - No alcohol, no fun, places deserted, and things overpriced... They can have that at home! Okay, maybe they'll come for the sunshine... ????
Or Dubai.

Of course now you've got your free no strings attached gift of submarines from China you'll be wanting to dig the Kraa Canal with loans from China and Chinese construction companies "winning" the contract. NOTHING from China is ever free.

Given the amount of Arabs and Iranians in the prison system he could be in for a hard time. His behavior is not unusual. Most expats who catch covid do not cooperate with the Thai authorities because they believe they are superior to Thais.
Most expats? Really? I presume that you have sufficient evidence to back up your rant.
I have only read of two such incidents featuring non-Thais

His biggest problem is bad acting. Fatty liver and hypertension. That shouldn't stop him serving his jail sentence. Nor should cataract surgery. He is a chancer. If he is released due to ill health, then so should all the other peasants serving time, with real ill health problems be released.????
I've had all three for many years but I just get on with things.
Mild medication over 20+ years and a scheduled cataract procedure in the new year will see me good to go. (Pun intended).

For heavens sake... one only needs to take a ride down Sukhumvit for twenty minutes to see dozens of traffic violations, from no helmet, red-light running, illegal turns, going against traffic direction, lane marker straddling, double parking etc etc.....
What is the point of these police?
Get recording.....Kerching.

Forget about regular tourists then. The ones who are coming will be returning Expats / Business folks or some desperate guys who met a Thai girl online and are now embarking on that cumbersome journey for the sake of a date.
That's me cancelled for my four months in January.
Back to sunny Spain it is.

No. I did not need any test to board the flight to exit thailand. I was asked to show my Thailand Pass, insurance and vaccination passport,
The only tests I did were a day 2 Lateral Flow test in the UK. Arrival day is classed as day zero. Then a PCR-test for Fit To Fly certificate.
How much was the lateral flow test, did you have to book it online?
