I thought % age wise illegals committed less crimes than OK residents? This makes sense to me since I employed many in a ME country and all they wanted was to send some money back to their families .

I am in your exact same situation A year ago my UK broker asked for a TIN also my bank who I could not afford to upset. The local tax office (Jomtien ) was empty ,got a TIM in 5 mins .Cost 20 baht .. for the photocopy.

When I first arrived circa 2004 Thai TV exposed a Thai village that sent beggars to Bkk. ....in shifts ! They even had an informal how to school set up !

Have noticed Thai people never give money to these street beggers .kids or not. They do give to known local Thai beggers , usually 5 or 10 baht. Perhaps best to follow the locals in this .....
