  1. OP, you're asking people to speculate about the future and no one has a crystal ball. Think back 12 months ago. If someone told you that you would be forced to have a swab shoved up your nose and be tested for a virus before you could fly internationally, you would have labeled that person a conspiracy lunatic. If they told you people would line up for a chance to quarantine (self-imprison) in a hotel or hospital for 14 days just to be able to re-enter Thailand, you have have said that person was stark raving mad. If they told you that people would use apps that would monitor every time they went into malls or stores, again, most people would have labeled that bizarre conspiracy nonsense. That's the crazy world we live in now. While some will pretend they have special insight, the reality is nobody knows what will happen in the next 3, 6 or 12 months. Might all blow over.... or might get much worse.

  2. Another thread started earlier in the week:

The information that the hospital gave me was that patients from only 3 countries are currently allowed. This is also stated officially here:

    https://ddc.moph.go.th/viralpneumonia/eng/file/situation/situation-no211-030863.pdf

"The Ministry of Public Health tightened quarantine measures in alternative hospital quarantine facilities for Thai patients and foreigners including their caretakers for continuous care groups, patients requiring specialty care, and patients who had appointments. Non-COVID-19 patients from three low-risk countries of COVID-19 including the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Cambodia are required to present COVID-19-free health certificates issued no more than 72 hours before their flight departs and they have to be rechecked three times while hospitalized for 14 days. The hospital will issue COVID-19 free certificates then they can continue traveling as planned. There are 124 hospitals and clinics available."

First sentence in the last chapter indicates this is meant for people leaving Thailand, not for people entering Thailand.

Not correct. I'm currently in Bangkok but need to return to the US. I was going to start a procedure and get a letter from the hospital that I need to return to finish the procedure. That last paragraph from their message was meant for me and is not part of the official criteria needed to return to Thailand and the hospital was warning me that if I apply from the US, then I might not be approved. The official procedure is contained in the bullet points.

I see what you mean in your "note" for the UK this is one of the conditions..............

Letter from a hospital in the UK that you have a life-threating conditions and cannot be treated here, and require medical treatment in Thailand, as well as medical record for referral *

I cannot imagine there is a single condition that can be treated in Thailand and not the UK.

If they had left out "life-threating conditions" the statement would still be silly and would contradict official info that supposedly plastic surgery is an OK reason to apply. But you couldn't get a fit to fly document from an doctor if you had a life threatening condition nor would anyone sane want to get on a 10 hour repatriation flight with anything seriously wrong.

Considering that the Ministry of Health is in charge of the process, I surprised that the UK website is different that the other countries.

  5. I was researching what was needed for a medical visa. The visa, if approved would be a Non-O Medical. This is different from the medical visas they used to issue. You will have to do the 14 day quarantine in a hospital. Here part of the reply from a hospital in Bangkok where I had gone for treatment not related to what I was thinking about signing up for in order to return.

"  The process of being in AHQ ( alternative hospital quarantine ) in summary:

    • A patient who is sending inquiries with booking date and passport ( of patient and accompany person just in case ) then fill out the form from Thai Government, it should be complete including accompany person ( The patient is supposed to give a signature to cover the accompany person. The accompany person is allowed only but limited to not more than 3 persons) in which the hospital will send to patient or agency.

    • The hospital will send the patient's name including his/her accompany's name form to Ministry of Health to process and get a confirmation letter.

    • The hospital will send a confirmation letter to an Agency or directly to patient so that the patient can submit it to their Thai embassy mainly Myanmar, Cambodia, and China including COE form ( Certificate of Entry ).  The patient can bring the confirmation letter which we have sent to them to contact their Embassy directly to get COE. Once the patient received their COE, they need to send a copy to hospital so the hospital will continue to deal with the Ministry of Health from Thai government., Please prepare for the passport of the patient and accompany person's passport as well, medical treatment plan , pre-Airline Ticket , and Covid-19 Test within 72 hrs.

    • The embassy will give VISA and approved for tickets.

    • On the patient's arrival date there will have a staff from Ministry of Health and hospital staff to pick up the patient and bring to hospital.

    • Covid -19 Test will start from day 0, 5-7, 14 so that there will be 3 times before they will allow the patient to have a surgery or treatment ( it might be on the 14th or 15th day).

Please be advised, since the country you are going to is USA, where COVID cases are higher, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to re-enter Thailand as of now. People from the countries of Cambodia, Myanmar, and China are the ones who can be accepted into the Kingdom of Thailand for the purpose of medical treatment.  "

NOTE, most Thai embassies websites I checked (USA, Australia, Canada and some others) have similar info about the visa, except for Great Britain. They're criteria is insane.

In the thread about 1700 medical tourists it is stated

    - wellness is a valid reason

    - can travel around after 14 days quarantine

It doesn't say for how long they will stamp you in when you arrive and how you can stay longer

Good luck! I hope it works for you. Please update the thread if it does.

Since April, I've been postponing a 3-4 week trip I really need to make to the US because I don't want to get locked out of returning to Thailand. I would be happy to pay 68K for a wellness suite at Movenpick if it was a viable means to return.

Well just goes to show unless your in supervised quarantine there will always be some dick that will break the rules.

They should announce that there will be jail time for breaking quarantine rules. In Singapore, a FexEx pilot got 4 weeks jail time.

Iceland seems to have the right idea.  Test upon arrival, then upon the all clear, let the tourists do their thing.

Maldives also. As of July 15, no quarantine, no tests before entering, only tests if have symptoms when entering. Some resorts have set up elaborate systems to safely integrate new arrivals to their self-contained resorts.

If Thai authorities want to learn how to get the luxury vacation segment open, they should read this article. Unfortunately we all know they won't because they have invented and perfected a completely new and different approach.

This is Thailand If the business says anything about you even if true to others could you not sue for defamation?

In the US companies now only give dates of employment, due to lawsuits.

Hard to get info unless it is public knowledge. Future

employers pretty much have to accept what is on the resume.

You have to ask the right questions and talk to the immediate supervisor/manager rather than the HR dept. With some companies that's not easy to accomplish.

Ask: If this former employee recommended someone for their vacated position, would the manager be favorably inclined to interview the recommended person?

If the response is immediate and an enthusiastic yes, that's good. If the response is a pause, followed by well, yeah, maybe I might, cause you never know until you talk to somebody, so I probably would consider interviewing that person - then that answer is fairly negative.

  10. The "95% recovery rate of covid-19" is most probably far higher than that. At present, we don't know how many people have gotten Covid. We do know that many who get Covid  are asymptomatic and based on statistics from the Princess cruise ship that number might be 50%. Many others who had mild symptoms never presented themselves to hospitals.

The only 2 studies that were done to try to determine the extent of Covid infection were by Stanford Medical and USC Medical where they took blood samples and used antibody results. The initial findings at Stanford show that

"mortality rate in Santa Clara County is between 0.12% and 0.2%. (In contrast, the county's mortality rate based solely on official cases and deaths as of last Friday, April 17, was 3.9%."

    Source: https://paloaltoonline.com/news/2020/04/21/los-angeles-study-backs-stanford-researchers-conclusion-about-high-prevalence-of-covid-19

IF these studies are accurate, then the recovery rate is 99.8%. The studies naturally elicited major criticism. Some had sensible questions about methodology and the accuracy of the test kit. Others were strictly attacks based on financial or political reasons.  Some garbage studies based on highly unreliable data analysis were rushed out to attempt to contradict the physical studies done by epidemiologists at Stanford and USC.

Note that the Stanford team reviewed their data after the avalanche of criticism and made slight adjustments, while maintaining that the original conclusions were accurate. Source: https://www.pe.com/2020/05/12/coronavirus-revised-stanford-estimate-says-santa-clara-county-had-54-times-more-cases-than-we-knew-about/

Please stop quibbling about terminiology, does not help the OP

OP are you sure the flight route you envision exists? There is a complete ban on inbound international commercial flights to Thailand until end of June and it is likely to be extended

It seems that India has a similar ban to Thailand. No commercial flights until June 30 and if OP qualifies, then must go through Indian embassy/consulate to get on a repatriation flight.

If India lifts the ban, then Singapore and Hong Kong now allow international transit passengers so OP could fly through those airports.

  12. This information is currently not accurate due to Covid restrictions, but from the Thai Embassy site: http://www.thaiembassy.org/telaviv/en/services/685/17388-Entry-to-Thailand.html

Foreigners, who travel via Thailand to other destinations from the same port of entry, are allowed to transit without a visa. In this regard, the Thai Immigration Division is authorized to instruct the airlines or persons in charge of the transit to ensure that the transit passengers remain in a prescribed area. Should the transit passengers be forced for any reason to remain in the prescribed area for a period longer than expected, the Immigration Division may allow such passengers to do so under guarantees by the airlines or persons in charge of the transit.

  13. The first 2 links you posted are commercial sites and use terms meant for inexperienced travelers.

The HKG site says Transfer / Transit. I have frequently traveled thru HKG and know that they have signs with Transfer to keep things simple, especially for non-native English speakers.

Once again if the OP wants to find official sources about what airport/country he can transit, then he needs to search on the term transit. I can post links to dozens of airlines that use the term transit as I have used it. You can continue to insist that your definition is correct but I hope the OP doesn't try to fly based on your expertise.

"Foreign nationals who have visited or transited in 111 countries in the past 14 days"

    https://www.airnewzealand.eu/new-zealand-entry-and-transit-requirements

"If you are transiting through New Zealand to your final destination "

The airlines post official requirements because they are following their goverment's orders.

  14. https://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/sg/travel-info/covid-19/

If the original poster wants to know what airports he can travel through, he needs to search on "transit" information for official permissions and criteria relating to transiting that airport/country.

You're confusing terms and originally listed a site that's meant for travel for newbies.  Also, many airports have signs that point to "transfer for international passengers". They don't say transit because the general public doesn't know that term. However, the definition I used is the generally accepted definition for transit and that's what the OP needs to search for to get the correct answer from official sources and not some confused blogger on the internet.

  15. Transit for international passengers is the term that the airlines use.

See https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/international-travel-document-news/1580226297.htm where they use the term repeatedly.

Also "From 1 June 2020, air transit services at Hong Kong International Airport resumed in phases. Passengers will be able to transit through Hong Kong if:" from the Cathay site: https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_TH/travel-information/travel-preparation/travel-advisories/travel-restrictions-for-passengers-travelling-to-transiting-through-hong-kong.html
