We rarely get to know the precise questions asked in these polls. In this case I expect it was something like ...
Q1 - Who do you believe can get Thailand out of this economic mess?
(a) Prayuth
(b) Joe Biden
(c) Santa Claus
(d) The Tooth Fairy
What if the poll had these choices?
a) Prayuth
b) Joe Biden
c) Boris Johnson
d) Justin Trudeau
e) Mickey Mouse

This from TAT with all the so called "phases" and the CCSA . Awaiting approval from the cabinet. Still not clear if can 7 days quarantine in Bangkok from 1st Oct. and from Nov 1st no ASQ . and what is the position with CofE from what date, Clear as mud as ever
Everything should be clear by 23:59 on Sep 30. Or maybe not everything...
Back in April when they decided to cut quarantine from 14 to 7 days starting April 1, the details weren't clear until a couple of days before the 1st. Even then, they changed the 7 day (7 or 8 nights) rule and added the 18:00 time cutoff sometime around April 2 or 3.

I literally meant your experience was exceptional. If quarantines were routinely changed at the airport, the result would be fairly chaotic. Instead, you experienced a rare event.
people should not assume that the length of their quarantine can be renegotiated or otherwise changed at BKK, upon arrival.
My experience was not exceptional. Two people directly in front me received the shorter 7 day period. Then a person next to me had the same. There were many posts on here and other forums of people receiving the new shorter periods at the airport. Surprisingly, the entire process went very smoothly, especially considering it was put together less than a week before it launched.
Maybe the fact that the entire process worked as well as it did was the exceptional part. Thai bureaucracy, Immigration, Health officials, airport workers, transportation and hotels all came together and did a GREAT job. Hope to see a repeat performance when I come back in 2 weeks.

did you get a refund for the 7 days from your hotel?
Not exceptional, just went through the process. This isn't the first time you posted something that was wrong. It's OK because normal people make mistakes all the time but some people have a hard time admitting to their mistakes.
Yes, I received a refund.

Nice. There is also a communicable disease control officer in each subdistrict. Perhaps he or she would agree to reduce the time for those in quarantine here who have already done 7 days but not yet 14?
The rules at that time stated that the health officer at the port of entry would decide the quarantine length. Hotels were also required to issue refunds. If they change the rules this time, I think the subdistrict health officers would love the opportunity to cash in on being able to reduce Q time.

So Thai people can go to movie theaters, but if dirty vaccinated farangs want to fly into BKK, then they must be locked in their rooms for 7 nights. Unless they arrive after 18:00, then they must be locked up for 8 nights.
Do the idiots in charge really expect farangs with money to apply for 10 year visas and put up with this lunacy? I qualify for the retirement 10 year plan but count me out.
Dirty vaccinated farangs were not the cause of this latest Covid wave. Anyone remember the Myanmar club - Thong Lo connection? Or the seafood market? Or the endless stream of illegal border crossers that keep coming because they are promised employment? The entire claim of needing to vaccinate 70% of the people (with inferior vaccines) before the country is opened to vaccinated people is a farce. Unfortunately many on this forum assisted the idiots in charge by parroting the story.

Wrong. I came in on April 1 and my COE which was issued 2 weeks earlier said 14 day Q. After they reviewed my quarantine cert at the airport, the health officer gave me a new form that stated that my Q was changed to 7 days. Anyone who came in March 30th had to do the 14 days.

Thanks for confirming - this rings a bell now. Fingers crossed the proposals are agreed and applied in the same way this time.
Fingers crossed here also. I had to return to the US 5 weeks ago but will return to Bangkok in 2 or 3 weeks. Hoping for 7 days in Hua Hin but will take 7 days in Phuket. No way I'm going to do 14 days confined to a hotel room in Bangkok. 14 days roaming Phuket or doing a 7+7 is the limit for me. One good thing is that most people in the Phuket Sandbox are loving the much less crowded places.

Very useful Martin - thank you. Had you paid for more than 7 days? If so, did you get a refund from the hotel? Any issues?
I'm actually feeling quite hopeful my 14 days will be reduced........no doubt be dashed by Friday afternoon but in the meantime I'll stay overly optimistic!! It's a laugh this malarkey.....
I arrived on April 1st, which is the day the new program started. At the first processing stop received general paperwork with a 14 day stamp. At the 2nd stop they reviewed my vaccine cert and changed the quarantine period to 7 days. Took an extra day before the hotel officially received the info about 7 days. Anantara Riverside issued a refund within 2 days of me checking out of the hotel. Part of the new rules back then were that the hotels were required to refund any differences.

Latest on vaccines and therapeutics:
There are currently over 120 Covid vaccines in trials around the world. Next year the Covid/Flu vaccine market will be worth between $500 Billion and $1 Trillion. Many companies rushing to get a piece of the action. The new vaccines might be better then the first ones on the market in that they are broader spectrum and geared towards variants and might provide longer term efficacy which seems to be an issue with the early vaccines.
This one just reported 2 days ago. Global study, 30,000 participants. Tested against all the latest variants and results are very impressive. Against ALL variants, 83% efficacy against moderate to severe and 100% efficacy against hospitalization and death.
Also over 80 therapeutics in trial. That is where the governments should have focused their energies on but a potential $500 Billion payday buys lots of scientists, politicians and reporters.
There are multiple drugs in final stages of testing that cut the risk of death by 80-100%. Also cut the days spent in hospital by over 50%. Also drugs that reverse long term Covid symptoms. Unfortunately many small drug companies (bio-techs) don't have the financial or operational abilities to see their drugs (molecules) through to successful rollout. This is where governments should direct their resources to help these companies. Get Covid, take an pill and 2-3 days later you're OK with no hospital visit necessary.

@BritTim.. So you're saying that covid insurance is indeed required for ASQ? (Originally it was only required for the sandbox option). I didn't even realise that COE was required for ASQ now.
CORRECTION: In my original post, I meant to write: "Another factor is the delay of obtaining an COE" (not ASQ).
Covid insurance was always required for ASQ. Originally it was required for the entire length of permitted stay just like now. I came in April 1 (only had to do a 7 day Q) but my extension had expired so I only needed 45 days of insurance. I bought 90 days only because I knew that I would return to the US within that time and wanted the additional no-questions-asked coverage.
I'm now in the US but planning on going back in early October. Since I now have a new annual extension valid until July, technically I'm supposed to buy coverage to last until then. However I plan to return to the US in late Dec or early Jan. I'll buy a return ticket for Dec and I'll see if I can get a COE based on a new 90 day policy.

Dr. Donna, https://www.medconsultasia.com. Lots of very favorable reviews on FB forums.
8 weeks ago I went in before 9 AM and asked for results within 24 hours. I had my results before 7 PM.
Long slow line to pay but total time was just over an hour.

PCR test can be done for 2,500 Baht in Bangkok. Results the next afternoon are emailed to you. https://www.medconsultasia.com/ - Dr. Donna. Highly recommended by many in the Facebook groups. I went this morning. The payment process took the longest since there were a number of people asking questions but overall I was in and out in less than an hour. Make a reservation online.

The 2nd vaccine is being tested in multiple countries. It is based on research from highly respected Mt. Sinai in New York City in collaboration with Texas University. Funded by WHO and PATH. I've been following this for 5 months because they are using a component from a small biotech company that I have a lot of shares in.

There are 4 current variants of concern (VOCs) and 10 variants under investigation (VUIs) and 17 more variants that are being monitored. Take a look Table 1 for the full list. Then look at Table 5 to see how many people who have received 2 doses have died from Delta.

Conspiracy theory.
you have no idea how clinical trials work.
Wrong, but you continually support Big Pharma at every turn. I invest in biotech companies and an important component of that is to closely follow how their molecules proceed through clinical trials. Even successful completion of a Phase 3 trial doesn't mean the company will prosper.

Thank you for that information. It's fascinating how people are just ignoring it because it doesn't fit the narrative. It seems that many need to believe that the vaccines will be the solution that brings us back to normal life. I suppose if you've taken the jab or even just fully committed to taking it, you're generally not open to any information that'll put your decision into question.
There are some of us that have gotten the jabs but still know that a vaccine is a stop gap measure and that there is a huge need for multiple medications that can control the effects of the infection.
I'm going to return to the US next month and will get my 3rd Pfizer jab. I also invest in both pharma and biotech stocks so I'm neither a anti-vaxxer or anti-pharma person. Unfortunately the massive wealth of big pharma along with the rabid RESET cabal has resulted in an atmosphere where people are censored and doxed for questioning either group.

6 minutes ago, jacko45k said:I think that is harsh.... it is more likely a lack of research that supports the position. The Invermectin itself did not stop infection but it is claimed to be an effective treatment for those with mild to severe symptoms. Surely the vaccinations are more effective in relation to reducing those mild to severe symptoms.
Prevention is better than cure is it not?
Prevention is a myth being pushed by the mega $$ Billion Pharma industry. Did past year's flu vaccines stop the next year's version of the flu? Every year the flu vaccine manufacturer's guess what is going to appear next year. Covid-SARS is mutating rapidly. Far better to get effective treatment, especially if it can be very low cost pill.

Hundreds of billions of $$$ are being spent for vaccines but a tiny amount is being spent on trials for medications that can stop Covid once a person is infected. The vaccine market next year will be worth $300-500 BILLION. That type of money buys lots of media, politicians and scientists.
Besides Ivermectin, there are at least 5 other drugs that I know of that are showing promise and could dramatically reduce deaths. One of them is fostamatinib and I own stock in that small company.

This thai doctor describes what has just happened in India - most people got sick and acquired natural immunity from the live virus, the wave went down. The number of detected infections is bs everywhere, real numbers are in billions now, mortality rate is very low. What happened in India is now happening in Thailand, give it another month to play out.
Here's what stopped Covid in India:
India succeeds with Invermectin. Figures from Johns Hopkins.
Uttar Pradesh on Ivermectin: Population 240 Million [4.9% fully vaccinated]
COVID Daily Cases: 26
COVID Daily Deaths: 3
The United States off Ivermectin: Population 331 Million [50.5% fully vaccinated]
COVID Daily Cases: 127,108
COVID Daily Deaths: 574
Let us look at other Ivermectin using areas of India with numbers from August 5, 2021, compiled by the JHU CSSE:
Delhi on Ivermectin: Population 31 Million [15% fully vaccinated]
COVID Daily Cases: 61
COVID Daily Deaths: 2
Uttarakhand on Ivermectin: Population 11.4 Million [15% fully vaccinated]
COVID Daily Cases: 24
COVID Daily Deaths: 0
Now let us look at an area of India that rejected Ivermectin.
Tamil Nadu announced they would reject Ivermectin and instead follow the dubious USA-style guidance of using Remdesivir. Knowing this, you might expect their numbers to be closer to the US, with more cases and more deaths. You would be correct. Tamil Nadu went on to lead India in COVID-19 cases.
Tamil Nadu off Ivermectin: Population 78.8 Million [6.9% fully vaccinated]
COVID Daily Cases: 1,997
COVID Daily Deaths: 33

Thailand seeks to slash quarantine period for visitors
in Thailand News

I just read on an embassy website that the Health Official at entry will decide length of quarantine. This is the same as happened in April. People at the airport will get a document stating what how long their quarantine will last.
The interesting thing for me was when I checked into my hotel just before midnight on April 1, the hospital staff and hotel staff had never seen a 7 day stamp. Took about 36 hours to have the hotel confirm because they were waiting for an official response.
