Well I'm sorry what you think, but I'm just telling you what the rules on the ground are.

We follow what we're told to do, and if you want I'll post a picture of this morning's 9am flight to Denver after we've boarded it

Multiple reports of jammed flights. Maybe your location isn't experiencing the traffic other airports are seeing.

    So I can't answer for American, but on the flights I service, Delta & United here are the rules we work with;

On regional jets with a 2x2 config we can only book the window seat, the aisle seat is blocked. On mainline all middle seats are blocked.

1st class cannot be booked above 50%

The only exception to people seating next to each other is 'if they belong together', in other words family members.

All turns are sanitized (basically we fog the aircraft with disinfectant and wipe down all arm rests and tray tables) before passengers can re-board and the flight departs.

All passengers and crew are required to wear a mask, in point of fact you can't even check in if you don't have a mask!

Thats the current state of US domestic air travel

Those are not the rules United is using: https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/passengers-stunned-by-full-flights-despite-coronavirus-social-distancing/2270178/

The VA said that their trials with it resulted in more people dying who took it than those who didn't. That's the VA, too, experimenting on American veterans, and killing them, just because Trump said it works. ????

The VA didn't conduct a trial. A couple of ophthalmologists with questionable motives reviewed some charts and posted online a non-peer reviewed article (essentially an opinion piece) that has been since heavily criticized. The media hyped the story because they know the religious fervor with which the "orange man bad" club consumes any negative information about the evil orange man.

What you fail to realize is that prior to this disaster most airlines have been very profitable, yet TG has been deeply in the red for years, and as previous posters have pointed out thats not Thai bashing just fact.

Talk to me about India Air, Malaysia Air, Etihad, Avianca and many others that have been posting losses for a very long time. JAL was in trouble for a long time as were any many others.

Poor decision making? How about the massive share buybacks by the US airlines? Instead of paying off debt and shoring up their financials, the CEO's spent billions on share buybacks to increase the EPS and their bonuses.

Is Thai Air poorly run? Yes, of course it is. Most airlines that are captive (national airlines) or semi-captive are poorly run.

As for Delta, they led the race to the bottom of the US airlines by gutting their frequent flyer program. They are the last airline I would fly in the US.

Go back and check yourself, don't rely on receiving an email.

First time for me using the online 90 day report. Yesterday evening I filled out the form and today received the approval email (CW). Took your very good advice and went online and was able to grab a pic on my phone of the approval and also of the next appt date notice.

He must have paid big money for the machines. I was trying to buy some in early March and they were quoting 150 days for FOB. Quite remarkable how quick he got them here. Now he just needs to find operators.

There are 2 very good articles that describe the effort along with pics that show the machines and the special masks that they are making. The masks are the latest design using "meltblown non-woven fibre". Don't know if I can post a direct link about the CP articles but google "thaiger cp masks" and the articles come up.

Not so sure about banks. HSBC tanked last Thursday on the dividend news. I bought Put options for $1.00 a couple of days earlier and within 10 minutes of the opening bell they sold for $3.00 - 200% profit was a nice little earner ???? They even went up further to $4.

Banks were hurt bad in 2008/2009 because they had so many non-performing loans. The gov is propping up all sorts of businesses and most banks will be making money this time around.

The market was so volatile a couple of weeks ago that buying puts on many stocks could return big payoffs if you waited 3-4 days. That was before the latest sustained run up. If we return to having more 1000 pt up, 2000 pt down, 800 pt up, 1500 pt down weeks, then you'll have another chance to play the buy/close out puts game.

True! playing the game is how I read it, have a read of attached, message I get is "we will be playing the game" the brainwashing brigade is powerful at this time, better to go with the flow than fight them - & make money on the way, worth noting that Blackrock are major RDS shareholders.

    https://www.blackrock.com/corporate/investor-relations/larry-fink-ceo-letter

I think a lot of Fortune 500 CEOs like the eco-terrorist agenda because the more government regulations that exist, the harder it is for small and medium size businesses to compete with the big companies.

The brainwashing brigade is already blaming Covid (and future versions of Covids) on climate change. Just one example: https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/03/a-green-reboot-after-the-pandemic/

THE USA will not be the worlds biggest oil producer after this "event" oil price is too low for Shale oil, doubtless part of the Saudi plan, the "Majors" RDS, XOM,CVX, will mop up and prosper - yet again, though when to buy is always the question, all have good dividends too.

I bought XOM last month at 36. Div yield 9.66%. I'll gladly wait a year or three for XOM to go back to $80.

I was very tempted to also add RDS with their higher yield and excellent div history but 3 little reasons I didn't are: they have a lot of debt; they're forced to waste money placating eco-terrorists; and XOM has more upside. If someone wants geographical and geopolitical diversity, then picking both XOM and RDS are great choices.

Although this is a great thing, they should have started about 2 months ago.  Not complaining, just saying.

They did start 2 months ago. Had to put together a team to decide things like where to locate the plant and more importantly they had to find a source for the mask making machines. For the 2nd machine, they had to charter a flight to bring the machine from China because of flight restrictions. Seems some people don't understand that setting up an entirely new manufacturing plant takes time.

The founder supposedly got very angry at the people who were price gouging and decided to build the plant and give away the masks for free to put the price gougers out of business.

Hope more people do this because 3M allowed their distributors to price gouge and they should be put out of business.

  11. Accidentally posted this is a different topic, but it belongs here:

    https://video.foxnews.com/v/6142694474001/

Interesting interview with the CEO of FedEx. Has 700 employees in Wuhan. Predicts V shaped recovery.

Bought large amount of Exxon twice this past week, way more than prudent, but couldn't resist the bargain. Obviously a little ahead of the curve but current average cost is $37.7, yielding 9.2% while I wait for Russia & Saudis to play nice or Iran to lob a couple more missiles into the Saudi oil fields.

If oil stays below $20 and Exxon cuts div first time after 37 years of consecutive increases, then I'll be OK with a 50% div reduction while waiting patiently for the rebound.

And fit.  The halt and the lame don't go on cruises

How many cruises have you been on? All these ships have elevators and are handicapped friendly. Lots of people use walkers and seeing someone in a wheelchair is not uncommon.

Almost everyone does buffet breakfast and most also do buffet lunch. Trays and large displays of food just sitting there waiting for anyone one of a thousand people to cough. Casinos, theaters and pools where people are elbow to elbow.

The cruise environment is a much easier place to catch a virus. Why do you think rhinoviruses are such an issue on cruise ships?

Just looked at the age distribution and over 1,231 were over 70. High risk group.

The underlying assumption is that the passengers and crew of a luxury cruise ship are typical of the population at large, and that their medical treatment is also typical of what would happen to large-scale numbers of cases

Actually they were much older than typical population. There was a story that showed that there were many people over 80, more over 70 and even more over 60. I was surprised about the average age being that old.

it is a huge mistake to compare covid19 to the "normal" flu.

    please stop doing it.

The virus's correct name is SARS-CoV-2.

"Covid-19 is not the flu. It’s worse.

It’s deadlier, more contagious, and more likely to severely disrupt our health care system."

    https://www.vox.com/science-and-health/2020/3/13/21176735/covid-19-coronavirus-worse-than-flu-comparison

The best case study to date is what happened on the Diamond Princess. 3,618 passengers and crew interacted freely for at least a week and were then put into quarantine for 2 weeks. Everyone was tested, some more than once.

    3,618 total tested

    705 confirmed CoVID

392 were asymptomatic, which means only 316 showed any signs such as sore throat, fever, cough

    7 (maybe 8  ) died

Out of 3,618 that were exposed over a prolonged period, 7 died.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_coronavirus_pandemic_on_cruise_ships#Diamond_Princess

There are now multiple videos of people from the Princess and videos of other people who had the virus and almost all are saying that people are overreacting. This is just one of many examples: https://www.foxnews.com/media/couple-recovers-from-covid-19-after-cruise-we-encourage-our-fellow-americans-not-to-panic

  15. Best place to get semi-official news:

    https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/international-travel-document-news/1580226297.htm

It gets updated daily so might not always have the very latest developments.

    For Cambodia:

    CAMBODIA published 14.03.2020

    Effective from 17.03.2020:

All passengers who in the past 14 days have been to, or are originating from France, Germany, Italy, Spain or USA are not allowed to enter or transit Cambodia. This restriction applies for 30 days.

This does not apply to nationals of Cambodia or residents of Cambodia.

  16. This global travel list is updated daily so last minute things might not show up. The IATA is the International Air Transport Association, a trade association of the world's airlines.

    https://www.iatatravel-travel-document-news/1580226297m.htlcentre.com/international

Anyone traveling to or from Thailand to another country should check this list and also look at any countries of connecting cities. For quarantines, some countries are not including transiting an airport and other countries are including it.

This is current Thailand info as of March 14:

    - This does not apply to airline crew.

    2. Passengers arriving from China (People's Rep.), Hong Kong (SAR China), Iran, Italy, Korea (Rep.) or Macao (SAR China) must have a medical insurance with coverage of 100,000 USD.

    - This does not apply to airline crew.

    3. Passengers and crew members must present a completed T.8 health questionnaire to Health Control Office upon arrival.

    5. Crew members based in Thailand arriving from China (People's Rep.), Hong Kong (SAR China), Iran, Italy, Korea (Rep.) or Macao (SAR China) will be quarantined at home until next departure schedule.

    - This does not apply when they only transited through China (People's Rep.), Hong Kong (SAR China), Iran, Italy, Korea (Rep.) or Macao (SAR China).

Boy, this is going to make travel complicated. To the US from Bangkok about your only connection options are China, Japan, and Korea.

I'm heading to the US (east coast) next week and am avoiding Cathay and JAL which I normally fly because I don't want to route through HKG, Seoul and Tokyo. Going through Munich on the way there with Thai connecting to Lufthansa. When I return in 4 weeks, I'll either route through London, Copenhagen or Zurich. Lots of choices to those airports and Thai flies from them to BKK. Another choice would be Austrian which flies from US-VIE-BKK.

If you're going to the West coast, then can still route through Manila or head through Europe or ME countries.
