Thank you for your sensible and well considered response, it is good to hear from people with a cool logical look at things, often here it is the Jai Ren approach, which I am the first to hold my hand up to. I was trying to just get some sort of a feel as to the possible legal situation before we went down the lawyer route and had every last drop of blood sucked out of us by the Thai "Legal" system - I thought sounding out first might give me an idea as to which way to go. Sadly, it does not seem that the road is divisible like that, it looks like once it has been built then it cannot be divided as it is not part of the chanotes of either plots of land. The only way I see to go forward is to get the local govt. to recognize the road and pave it as shared , or free access, or I bulldoze everything that I spent on it another 4 metres to the right as an earlier poster suggested, or maybe the third option would be to try to make a purchase to buy the road out fully - then again, they might be finding broken glass and some carelessly dropped nails and screws where they intersect my road.

You are in the same boat, I wrecked a grasscutter trying to chop down the grass but obscured the damn cables, this placing of anchors or poles on peoples land without permission cannot be legal. I was planting trees years ago at the time that they first dug a hole, they left no markers or warnings, you could have broken your legs or even lost a small child down the damn hole they dug without permission, just sunk a 5 foot hole, a foot wide on our land and not a word!

I totally understand what you are saying, but all of the land and the house is in my Thai / English son's name - I know I have absolutely no rights to the land etc. but it is not in my name, it is is in the names of two Thai nationals, my son and my wife. They are getting crapped on, I gave it up as a bad job in 1997, and made sure it was all legal for them, I never expected to ever be anything other than some farang scum as long as I lived here, Problem I have, is that this is Thai trying to take from Thai! and a lot of it seems to be jealously . Why would I want to let it slide? and let people just <deleted> on my family?

Wonder if anyone has any ideas on these annoying turnabouts over the last few years. Where would we stand legally? First one is EGAT, they decided to put in new electric poles through our village and just decided, (without asking) to come and dig a 3 metre hole about 10 metres on our land to set an anchor cable to support the pole - I filled the hole in but they dug it out again then told us to disconnect the cable that supports the pole if we weren't happy! - Surely they need permission to plant this sort of crap on your land. Second one is when we bought a second plot of land we were shown the chanote posts by the land office ( "a real" inspection) so we built an access road to our property, Later the land office changed their minds and said we only shared half the width of the road with the neighbour - Not a problem, but now he has sold his land to some idiots that are churning up the road and when it rains they can get out in their 4 x 4's but a normal saloon car gets stuck in the mud! If it is a shared road, or if I built it on government land - Can I get a bulldozer to remove all of the stone that I paid for and move it 4 metres across and rebuild my road 100% on my property? Lastly, if this is now classed as free access, or shared public access, can we get the local government to treat it as such and get them to maintain the shared part of the road? As usual, the law here seems to blow in the direction of the wind on the day you ask - extremely annoying.

I just wanted to update those kind people that made suggestions and posted help to my original post as a bit of a follow up in thanks for your help. That Doctor, Dr. Morgan has been great, she diagnosed the problem in 10 minutes. Sent me to the RAM hospital, they did a doppler ultrasound and CT and found that the leg that was causing the pain is 100% blocked and the "Good" leg is 60% blocked. So she then referred me to a vascular surgeon back at the RAM with whom I have to sort out the next steps forward, (with the possibility of either transferring to the Suan Dok or going back to the UK as she seems to think it is pretty major surgery, which due to past health issues, I cannot qualify or get health insurance here) They said Suan Dok would be cheaper than the RAM, but either way it looks like it isn't going to be cheap. Kind of wondering if it might be better to just cut the damn leg off and be done with it as from what I read about bypasses and stents, it seems most operations are really serious, possible death and even if it works you can be back to square one in a year, so not looking too good at the minute. Anyway, I will see what the RAM says at my next appointment, but thanks again to all those who put forward Dr. Morgan, best doctor I have ever seen in Thailand or the UK! Greatly appreciated. By the way, if anyone has had this sort of problem and surgery here, I would be very grateful if you could post here and let me know a rough idea of the costs as I may have to sell my family into terrible sexual slavery to pay for the procedure, I am sure my wife will be fine with that, but my son and the cats might not be that enthusiastic.

When choosing a DNS server manually as opposed to allowing the ISP to select the DNS server, where is the priority? My question is about how the DNS server is prioritized, as an example, on my Asus router I can specify the DNS server address like Google 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 in the router settings, however, if I go into my individual PC and go to the network settings, I can assign a DNS address using the local settings on my particular PC. So, if I were to set my DNS on the router to Google on 8.8.8.8 and on my local machine to another server like 1.1.1.1 within Windows 11, which actual DNS server would be in use? If I leave my router blank and do not specify a DNS address, can each individual computer connected to the router specify and use its own DNS independently? Burning question I should have asked 10 years ago. - Thanks to anyone that knows the answer.

Got you 100% there, my arms are not what they were and getting a really fast pull on the starter is not as easy as it used to be, plus this thing has a lot more compression than the old Husky.

It is a brand new saw. the air cleaner is spic and span. not using the choke makes no difference, plug is wet a little bit. but will dry if you pull it through a few rimes on the warm start. I am trying the Stihl procedure, two pulls with choke, then flip it to warm but the pig still tries to rip my arm off! As I say, maybe it is just my technique, my son can start it and it runs fine, just annoyed I cannot get it running and bleeding hands trying.

Where are you buying the 2T from in Chiang Mai? (and thanks for the advice) This pig has ruined my left arm which has been out of action for three days. it actually hurt more that when I broke my wrist, it is an absolute pig to start, but as I say, once started it runs like a dream and can cut through anything here.

It might be me, not having the technique but it is a bit strange that it will rip the starter out of my hand with such force. understand it is more than 5HP, but this thing is nasty. When it gets to the point where it feels like it fires, it locks solid, you cannot continue to pull the cord, my hands are ripped ip and bleeding from it pulling me back into the casing.

Castrol, it feels like it is firing too early, you cannot pull it through the full cycle, it just locks solid and kicks back.

My old Husqvarna chainsaw blew itself to pieces recently, so I decided to buy an upgraded replacement, a Stihl 382. Not sure what the issue is with it but it is an absolute pig to start. You have to be very careful on the first start when using the choke as if you give it just one extra pull with the choke on it will flood itself. What I find is that it is extremely difficult to get the starter cord to pull through a couple of cycles smoothly - If you leave it in the OFF position you can pull the starter cord nice and smooth through a couple of revolutions, however, when you switch it to t6he ON position with the choke it feels like it is locking up solidly, then if you switch it to the WARM START after it first fires, it becomes even harder to pull. It feels like it is actually firing, but not enough to keep running, the decompressor switch disengages which I presume means it fired, but it will rip the starter cord out of your hand and it really has a nasty pull back (to the point it has torn muscle and tendon in my arm from the force of the kickback from the cord. It is so strong that it has ripped the cord out of my hand and cracked the plastic casing on the motor. I have a few 2 strokes and 4 strokes that all have a similar manual pull start but none of them display this sort of recoil - could it be the timing? Thing is, once it is started, it runs as smooth as any 2 stroke I have ever owned so I don't really want to mess with it too much. My son can get it started, but he is about 6 foot tall and weighs over 120kg, but even he seems to have a problem with the pull back on the starter (pulled muscles) any ideas what to check first as I really do not want to take a brand new motor to one of these local butcher shops that doe "repairs" as I am afraid they will bodge or damage it. (like they did fitting a pulley wheel to my brand new Honda motor - they were hammering it onto the crank with a sledgehammer!) I realise that this is a larger motor than the Husqvarna, and it is a 2 stroke not a 4 stoke like the Honda, but when this thing tries to fire it nearly rips your arm off and you cannot pull the cord past that point. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks to everyone that replied and provided the great info - Just thought I would update my situation. Firstly, thanks so much for recommending Dr. Morgan (I presumed that it would be a Welsh farang bloke, however he was a she, and she didn't look Welsh, but she spoke better English than most Taffs) The clinic and appointment system was great, e mailed them Sunday, appointment today 1:30 pm. Within 10 minutes of sitting down with Dr. Morgan she had done more checks than I have had in two years from the San Patong hospital ( which by the way, when I told and described the problem, told me I had probably inadvertently banged my knee) In ten minutes, she found that the bad leg had a much lower temperature than the other leg, it was a different colour from the good leg, it was a different size to the good leg and whilst my "good leg" had a strong pulse, the gammy leg barely had a detectable pulse. She tells me I have to stop the cigarettes, as I have classic signs of "peripheral Arterial Disease" - She has booked me into the RAM hospital (complete with 20% referral discount) to get a couple of tests carried out to see how bad things are. Whilst I was hoping it was a pinched nerve or similar and not this diagnosis, at least I now have a clear picture of what is going on - And, hats off to her too, my last hospital visit a few moths back had me pooping my pants telling me I had a High Cancer Marker count in my blood tests - I was beside myself worrying, but she told me today that this is usually simply due to the toxins in the blood due to being a smoker. So once again, many many thanks to those who recommended this lady doctor. she is a breath of fresh air in a sea of <deleted>- she has to be probably the most trustworthy and honest doctors I have ever met here. the fees are very reasonable too, go to a local clininc, get lied to, pay 250 baht for something with no name and some vitamin C orange sweeties, or pay 500 and come away feeling someone actually looked at you! See what happens now with the RAM!

I know a great doctor not too far from me, he is as honest as the day is long and seems like he genuinely wants to put you right, he knows his area of competence and when it falls outside he recommends someone else. Sadly once you get away from the clinics and into the hospitals it seems money is the main incentive.
