Phuket is a singularly good example of a failure. It should be at least a red zone. With so few beds then it should be deepest darkest red.

Still the hospitals are creaking in Phuket - "tourists" be aware treatment for anything will prove difficult.

I agree with you to the extent that the Sandbox fell far short of the overly optimistic projections that had been made, and that implementing it meant stopping most domestic tourism to Phuket. The problem is no one has ANY idea of the infection rate in Thailand. Reporting and muppets commenting on the number of positive PCR tests is very misleading. The only useful statistic is % fully vaccinated and in particular % sick, old and pregnant fully vaccinated.

So 20% is pathetic for a country producing vaccine. The lack of vaccines for the old and sick is criminal.

So according to the news - only about 250 beds (10%) were available, with 236 new cases this 10% must now be in single figures. "Tourists" be aware there will soon be no capacity in the medical system in Phuket.
