  1. Some people are indeed having problems finding it. Have one customer arriving on the 27th who e-mailed today saying he couldn't find coverage.

    Would be good if there was a place with a list of what is still available.

  2. With today's announcement by the People's Alliance for Democracy that they object to the prime minister's reconciliation proposal has come a wave of anti-PAD sentiment. On Twitter, folks have taken to publishing a "hastag" list called "You Might Be PAD If..."

    The results are extremely funny. Follow it yourself on Twitter at #youmightbepad. Here's a few of the best funnies to give you a sample.

    You Might Be PAD...

    · … If you think the best way to get cheap promo air fares first is to take over the entire airport.

    · … if your maid's computer was heisted from Government House.

    · … if you think anyone who disagrees with you is "uneducate".

    · … if you start a months-long street crusade because you couldn't follow the PM's cooking show recipe.

    · … if a foreign minister helped you seize an international airport

    · … if you have to go all the way to Pheah Villar to make merit at the temple.

    · … if you think Issan is brand of the 3 sports-utility vehicles in your garage.

    · … if you've got the LM hotline on speed dial.

    · … if you can accuse the citizens of Cambodia of using black magic while keeping a straight face

    · … if you don't eat nam prik kapi unless someone labels it "fusion"

    · … if you think Cambodia and Laos really belong to Thailand,

    · … if you think your Thai ancestors built Angkor Wat.

    · … if your mom's hair resembles an aircraft carrier.

    · … if you think Democracy Monument resembles the fountain in your front lawn.

    · … if you thought Apple brought out the iPAD just for you

    · … Thaksin, Thaksin, Thaksin, Thaksin, Thaksin, Thaksin, Thaksin, Thaksin, Thaksin, Thaksin, Thaksin, Thaksin, Thaksin, Thaksin, Thaksin,

  3. Simple answer? No.

    Long answer? Yes, but you need software other than iTunes.

    There are a number of iPod/iPhone management programs out there that will sync your library to your music player without iTunes. (Google "iTunes alternatives")

    On Mac, there is a great program that copies off your entire iPod, playlists, and meta data back onto your Mac, which was a godsend when i lost my library. However, there's no equivalent for windows.

    I was told the other day, however, there is now a program for Windows that does copy from iPod/iPhone back to PC. I'm sorry, but don't have the name.

    So, yeah, you can do it, but your gonna have to google some research.

  4. The Desire was very recently voted the best smartphone in the world... period ... by a big UK tech website/magazine. The iPhone dropped to #2 (for now).

    The Nexus One dropped off their top 15 entirely.

    The desire IS the nexus one with HTC's essence UI and more memory.

    Very good if you can find it.

  5. I think you're not really understanding the process.

    Music CDs ONLY come in your "normal" (CD Audio) format. All programs, including create music CDs this way. If you are not creating music CDs, you're creating DATA CDs, which would be mere storage of MP3 files.

    By default, clicking the "burn" button in iTunes creates music CDs. The program can create data discs, but you'd need to go into the preferences and change its behavior to do that.

    Sounds like your problem is that the first time you did this you used a program to make data discs, not a music-cd making program.

  6. I'm not saying I know for sure the foundations you're referring to are more lights, just that that's the only thing I've heard about building on the beach.

    The guy who hit the yank with the umbrella pole actually worked as a boxer in the bar nearby, not on the beach.

  7. With all the Red shirt craziness, and partly to settle a bet, I have been ordering a lot of Sunrise Tacos food for home delivery lately.... Some of the entrees have been pretty good, especially the Sunrise Salad, and the portions are quite large....

    Thanks JFChandler! Glad to hear you're enjoying Sunrise and you'll be glad to know I've passed on your comment about the few quality problems to the boss!

  8. If you don't care about paying hugely more than the list price nor the fact it's a first-gen product that will be much better in the second-generation, you can now get an Apple iPad 3G in Thailand.

    * iPad 3G/Wi-Fi (16GB) Price: 35,000 Baht

    * iPad 3G/Wi-Fi (32GB) Price: 40,000 Baht

    * iPad 3G/Wi-Fi (64GB) Price: 43,000 Baht

    Prices for the Wi-Fi only version:

    * iPad Wi-Fi (16GB) Price: 22,700 Baht

    * iPad Wi-Fi (32GB) Price: 26,700 Baht

    * iPad Wi-Fi (64GB) Price: 31,200 Baht

    Keep in mind you need to cut down a standard SIM to work in the 3G.

  9. A headset mike will reduce background nose and make it easier for the person you're calling to understand you.

    I recently switched from the old-fashioned mike, which requires a powered MIC jack and can be dodgy on some computers, to a USB headset. Much better sound quality and ZERO configuration.

    Of course, I have a Mac and this was the only option, as it doesn't have powered MIC ports.

  10. It may, however, require software from Samsung. I only have experience with Nokia, which also runs Symbian S60 like many Samsung phones. In Nokia's case, you double-click the icon in the Nokia PC Suite, choose your proivder (AIS, DTAC) and click connect. That simple.

    Samsung, I know, has some desktop software to go with its smart phones. If you don't have it, check the box for a CD or their website.

  11. New Independent Review -- Chiengfa.com

    Another positive report about the food at Bangkok's Duke's Express online today courtesy of travel writer Michael Holland's Chieng Fa blog. He focuses on the burgers -- as you'd expect -- and gave them good marks.

    IMG_3331.jpg

    I opted for the Duke’s Special burger, with cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms. You get a choice of French fries, onion rings or a salad with your burger. The burgers run around 250 to just under 300 Baht each, as does most of the menu, so this isn’t a cheap place, by Thai standards.

    The burger, as you can see in the photo, is large and well presented. The beef tasted like it was very high quality – much better that you get from the big chains. It was also very juicy, making this a very messy burger to eat with your hands. Normally that wouldn’t be much of a negative, but about halfway through I suffered a complete patty meltdown and had to finish my now broken burger with a knife and fork.

    The burger was definitely good, and I’d certainly consider sampling more of Duke’s menu the next time I’m at the Emporium and feeling hungry.

  12. Keep in mind that the Maprachan Reservoir is far from the Pattaya area's only water supply. There are currently five other reservoirs that supply water to the area with Maprachan being the least used.

    There has been about a story per month in the Pattaya Mail talking about water supply issues, all of them saying that Pattaya has more than enough of it to last even through the end of the summer if there were no rain.

    Other areas are not so lucky, such as Sattahip, which has already experienced water shortages.

    For this area and others including Chanthaburi and Trat, the Navy's royal cloud seeding division has indeed being in the skies, but not in the Pattaya area. They're focusing on other regions that don't have Pattaya's abundance of reservoirs and pipelines.

  13. I'd second the recommendation for the LG LH70. Mine is a 42-inch which I bought in November for 35,000 baht. The poster above got an excellent deal.

    I did considerable research into the HD TVs before buying any my conclusion was LG offered the best quality for the baht. Sony and Samsung both offered specs that were lower than LG's for the same or higher price. Meaning if you want the same response times and contrast ratios AND want Sony or Samsung, you're going to pay more. With Sony a lot more.

    One feature I'd wholly recommend is get an HDTV with a USB port. So if you download shows (or get them from someone else) you need only plug in a flash drive or portable hard drive and watch directly from there. The LG support hard drives up to 1 TB.

    Happy Shopping!
