Refusing to take a vaccine, to benefit society and bring society back, is about as sensible as believing the earth is flat.

Lock them up? Fine them 100,000 baht each? Forbid them from leaving their homes? Something needs to happen, to encourage these conservative, politically hypnotized goofballs to behave, and both here and in the US.

Imagine making a sacrifice for your country? What a concept. These same people who drape themselves with a false flag of patriotism, would <deleted> their pants if they were ever asked to truly protect their nation or serve in any manner.

Yet, they are being asked to do something they do not want to do. For their nation. Imagine? Make a sacrifice? Imagine? Do something you don't want to do, for the greater good. Imagine?

    Absolutely. Well said.

  2. You will find that most if not all the AZ vaccines on offer are from the local Thai manufacturer - which is not recognised internationally as an accepted vaccine by the WHO. The WHO accepts AZ from a variety of international manufacturers, eg India, but NOT from Thailand. Most Thais steer away from this. I had an appointment today at BNH in BKK, easily obtained, very professional with an immediate reply by email and a subsequent text message confirming a date. I let it lapse when it read Thai Intervac. That partly explained how readily an appointment was available. I gather from other sources that the AZ jabbed at Bang Sue was NOT the Thai version, but a batch of Japan-produced and donated AZ, so a different story.

Today, I was surprised to see Pfizer as an option, though. BKK PTYA, btw, has only confirmed AZ (probably from the locally produced batch, i.e. no go for me). Pfizer was not confirmed by the other hospitals, but one only offered it for 60+ and/or conditions. I qualify on 60+, so see what happens.

On the thailandintervac link, btw, they state that the current phase is only for 60+ and underlying conditions.

I couldn't help but laugh at the comments and rightfully so. However I'll give them a benefit of a doubt. They know they will never make it to space........but they sure as hell can make some parts for others to make it there.

    Cheap labor.......and plenty of it.

At last they might have something other than rice to export.

Ok, they can make the wheels in Samut Prakan.

Perhaps the space drive will actually result in a ground up revamp of the education system here.

You need really smart people and due to the totally inadequate education system here nowhere near enough smart problem solving out of the box thinkers are being produced.

The biggest problem is not the kids but the teachers and administrators. Who teaches them so they can teach the future generations.?

The government can pass all the laws they like but if the population does not have the skills and education levels required nothing is going to happen.

I would imaging it takes an incredibly brave and long-minded investment foreigner to invest in a Thai Space Program. Pretty sure the investor and everybody - including me - on here will be dead way before any Thai made space rocket puts a man into space, and I'm just 57 !

Lots of Thai men are in space already. Just go for a drive and you'll see.

  6. For those seeking a good lawn mower and brush cutter / whipper snipper repair shop, may I suggest paying a visit to Khun Tang Lek. Proceed along Sukumvit, coming from Jomtien in a northern direction, cross Pataya Tai Rd intersection, and 100m further turn left into a small soi BEFORE and right next to the Esso Service Station (and Burger King), follow the soi about 150m, and you will see an expanse of grass on the right, with 3 small houses. One of them has a bit of a porch, which acts as the open air workshop. There is a small sign in Thai. It is NOT a shop front. Easily missed. Today Tang Lek did an excellent service job on my petrol mower, with a quick fuel line clean-up, new spark plug, and sharpening of the blade(s). All up 20 mins, 180 baht.

You can never poll everyone to get the full picture. You need a sample of reasonable number of people. The trouble is that by how you ask questions, and how you choose people, what data you then include in calculations and what you exclude gives you a blank cheque to tweak the results to any way you wish.

A "scientifically" accurate sample for 3rd World Thailand would be 250 folks at your local market, 250 at the BigC or Lotus check-out, 250 at Paragon BKK, and 250 in Pattaya Soi 6. Done.

For <deleted> sake...Are these thai doctors better educated and have more insight into virology than their western counterparts(from countries, where the borders are open to fully vaccinated people, without quarantine) or they don't have a <deleted> clue and are absolutely <deleted> scared about coronavirus? This zero strategy it's not going to work, unless you are using it to control an entire country.

I mean, where is the logic in asking fully vaccinated people to quarantine? Ask them to have 3-4 covid tests while enjoying their semiprison in Phuket?

Is this guy more qualified than his fellow doctors from EU & USA countries?

Answer: He probably is, judging by that silly outfit he is wearing, as if it gives him more authority and credibility to spout his ignorance. ever seen a Western - qualified - specialist dressed like this clown?

I dare to disagree, 1,000 baht will get you much less then before, bars owners expect to have same profit with much less customers, the THAI Logic is, if before they made 1,000 baht profit selling 100 beers now they expect the same 1,000 baht profit but selling 10 beers  555

Correct. Although you are missing the point: believe it or not, but it obviously works for them. Hike the prices, the punters won't worry. Why? It's called the power of the little cat.

  11. These two guys - no ladies involved here - had been in Thailand as retirees for over 20 years. They eventually ran out of money and couldn't do the 800k option. The debt to their lessor was around 600k baht, so nowhere near the one million reported. However, they also borrowed extensively from local friends, without paying anything back. They are both Caucasian, and as British as they come. They have since departed.

    Interesting calculation.  40M in 2019 spent 1.9 Trillion = B 47,500 per person
    20M predicted in 2022 will spend 1.3 Trillion = B 65,000 per person.

Prices are down from 2019 and will take a while to recover.  So, are they expecting tourists to take extra long vacations?

Spending more on all the fines, eg no mask 3 times, 20k baht. That has now been upgraded to legitimate tourist spending and income.
