Climate is one possible factor and considering that it did not explode like crazy anywhere around SE Asia, it seems more and more convincing.

yes nothing going on in S' Korea

Since when South Korea is in South East Asia? Please, use your little brain cells from time to time. It's painless and often leads to unexpected benefits.

Was that what we would call a driving school?

They exist and seem to help speed up.

(but not seen examples for motorbike)

Not a driving school in the traditional sense - they mainly rent motorbikes, but also can provide basic riding lessons and can facilitate the process of getting a Thai DL.

For the latter, they mostly help with the paperwork, assist at the DLT and can make sure that your application is moved to the top of the stack. You will still need to pass the exams, if you haven't got an IDP or a DL from your home country.

They've recently helped me renew my expired Thai license. I was in and out of the DLT in two hours.

  3. If you go through an agent, you can get it done in a week or so, including exams. I did mine in two weeks, but then I failed the first attempt.

Every major motosai rental agency in BKK now also has a Thai DL service - e.g. Emma's, Fatboy's etc. Best to ask them about the residency cert and timelines.

  4. Yeah, rarbg is great. Then there is eztv, which is a great place for series. The bay is still around as well.

I use the three above and sometimes also rutracker for music.

If you have trouble accessing, try going through a VPN - sites or protocol itself often blocked these days.

    My thoughts exactly.

Just to make it even more clear, I'm not at a bar chatting it up with anyone. I'm sitting at a 7-11 coffee table reading a book, working out at a park, or roaming through a Thai-style market. Very much minding my own business -- when I get ambushed by a friendly farlang.

Srsly? Never, ever happened to me. Sometimes, when I am in a local market or another place, which is very seldom frequented by foreigners, I will bump into one, but all I'll get is a surprised stare - as in "What?! I am not the only foreigner is this country?"

Maybe you have a super friendly face, charisma, a generally good vibe and people just like to be around you. In such case being an introvert is definitely an issue. ????

  9. No direct train, AFAIK.

The trains from Nakhon to Hat Yai Junction run just a couple times per day, you then need to change to a shuttle train (which also runs twice a day, I think) or a minibus to Pedang Besar. If I am not mistaken, a direct train to PB runs from Surat and leaves in the middle of the night.

Personally, I never bothered with trains, took a minibus to Hat Yai from Nakhon (3h) and then another one to the border.

  10. Install the MyAIS app and check the usage history. It is very detailed.

I remember having a similar issue with them a couple years back - some <deleted>ty service (an SMS-based promotion, I think, forgot the details) was activated without me noticing and it ate a small chunk of the balance every week.
