Funny. We should wash our hands BEFORE and after taking a <deleted>. Our hands have likely been in contact with more dangerous germs on the way to the head than our peckers (escalator handles, elevator buttons, dirty counters, door handles etc.). Can't recall the last time I rode the escalator with Mr. Winky holding the band. Nor can I recall when he ever opened a door for me let alone pressed my floor in the elevator. Stay safe everyone. We will all get thru this together. Mr. Winky says, "Don't touch me with your filthy hands!" Health and happiness to all.

Thanks for your update. Not the best news. Will be checking with Mukdahan border crossing as departure approaches. For others, here is the # for the Mukdahan immi 042-674050.
They have urged all travellers to call ahead to ensure the border crossing is open so as to not waste their time and money while maintaining things can change at a moment's notice.
CORRECTION: the number I provided above is for Customs at Mukdahan who directed Mrs. Infinity to Immigration 098-1056707. On the Lao side if having trouble, try 856 20 58 859 567. Hope this information can be helpful to anyone who needs it. Stay safe all.

I can confirm that the health certificate is a requirement being one of around 30 applicants knocked back this morning (Thursday 19th).
Based in conversation with locals involved in the foreigner border shuffle, the border may be closed to foreigners from tomorrow night or very soon.

Good luck with social distancing on those freaking buses you have to use! Let people walk or ride a bicycle!
Indeed. I am taking the advice of a previous poster (Saraburi) and hiring a private car. In fact, booked at that hotel today bcoz of it. Though I am sure others offer the same or similar service.

Just a heads up. I will be going to Thai Consulate in SVK on Monday. Like she does everytime, Mrs Infinity called ahead today to make sure there aren't any changes in documentation required. Staff (woman) informed Mrs Infinity that a medical certificate issued within 72 hrs of visa application is now required. Must be from a hospital not a clinic or private practice. Additionally, the consular officer advised Mrs Infinity to check with immigration about the border being open or not as things are changing day to day. The consular staff was polite and helpful and provided the # to the head of FB2 border crossing. Said immi top dog gave the same advice. Call the day of travel as the situation at present is fluid. They also kindly advised us to take necessary precautions: masks, social distancing etc. when crossing the border.

You can apply for a 60 day extension to visit your wife at the designated immigration office for where you are living.
You wife will need to be with you when you apply for it. You will need your marriage certificate and a copy it. Copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card.
Thanks for the confirmation, UbonJoe. We have all the req'd documents etc. so good to go.

With proof of outbound flight you could apply for "extension" at immigration office.
Legally the extension will be denied, but you get a 7 day grace period to leave the country without penalty/blacklisting/overstay. Would just fit for the 8th.
Costs you 1900 Baht.
For a proper 60 day extension you would need to be married to Thai national or father of Thai child.
Hi KhunBENQ:
I am in a slightly similar situation to the OP. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
I have NON-O based on marriage and I will need to leave Thailand on or before 26 FEB 2020. I have never applied for an extension of stay before and was curious if I would be eligible for a 60 day extension?
According to the information provided by this link, it appears I should be. Could you confirm this?

Many thanks in advance!

Amazin', aint it.
I agree whole-heartedly with your points. My post was not a dig against normal Thais struggling to get along through honesty and hard work. Just taking a jab at those (the amart) who feel entitled to stifle the independence of their own hard-working people. Can you agree that this appears to be a power grab to maintain the status quo of the elite?

I disagree. The aim is to drive at full speed in reverse on the wrong side of the carriage way all they back to the Sukhothai period.
20 year plan with no opportunity for succeeding gov'ts to change/adjust policy means upcoming (and successive) elections are moot. Merely window dressing for the int'l community.
20 yrs is ample time to drain the treasury and pad offshore bank accounts. And when Thailand (the tired old whore that she is-polluted and corrupt) is on the verge of financial collapse and is an economic basket case, it will be time to move funds back in and "revitalise" the economy @ 10 cents on the dollar while those funds have been marinating overseas for 2 decades.
The 20 yr plan is to bring the masses to heel. Keep them as tenant farmers/indentured servants. Elections will be a farce. Welcome to Mediaeval times.

RIP
She was only important to those who loved her and laid her to rest including the countless who flew from around the globe on a moments notice to pay their respects to her (myself included).
As for details of the tragic event, I cannot comment as I was not there. But I understand from the investigation it was not HER irresponsibility that led to the tragedy as the charges of criminal negligence clearly point out. She was not an irresponsible, uneducated or ignorant woman. She was a loving mother, wife, devoted sister and daughter. The family is shattered. RIP Sis.

In which case I assume the family can sue the car manufacturer with the deep pockets for the big baht. That seems to be an obvious safety issue with 'all-electric' accessories on vehicles. So given that the vehicle become a tomb once the electricity shorted, wouldn't the car manufacturer actually be equally at fault? You could say she was murdered by technology. I'd say that this would be a safety issue for all vehicles which rely on 'all-electric' accessories such as automatic electric car locks and automatic electric windows which don't work once the power goes south. Time for a major recall. Ironic that poor people who can't afford the frills could have escaped their vehicles which have manually rolled down windows and manual door locks.

Not sure why the comments of poster Oneville that you have quoted appear under my handle. Maybe a TVF glitch?
*Edit: I just noticed it double quoted your post. Likely a glitch.

The deceased did not try to go through a flooded tunnel, the lights at the tunnel were not working on that tragic night, it was pitch black & raining. It was a 90 degree right hand turn straight into the water by which time her vehicle was floating. She couldn't open the windows or doors because the car battery had shorted out. It was a tomb! She called for help 3 times but it was over within 5 minutes. This could happen to anyone. I am a family friend of over 20 years. I visit them almost weekly and have lived at that Muban for a year. That tunnel had never been flooded with that much water, at 9 pm the same night another vehicle, seized it engine trying to crossover but it wasn't inundated with water yet, they eventually towed the vehicle away. In fact the deceased made that tragic turn into the tunnel barely 9 minutes after they towed the previous car. This is a gross case of negligence of the security guards! She is a highly educated lady who spent most of her free time in the USA... She was not a fool as some have hinted! Neither is she a typical Thai who is ignorant!
Indeed! And a caring mother of 3 beautiful children whose lives will never be the same.

Yes and no. I live here and love the place, but I don't have to deal with issues such as commuting through gridlocked traffic, living far away from public transport etc. Without those stresses, the place is alive, vibrant and comfortable, a great place to live for anyone who enjoys big cities, but I've no doubt that the report in the OP is accurate. I feel sympathy for those who's only reason for coming into the city is to work, and who struggle with a long daily commute, long queues for vans back to the suburbs etc, it seems like a very hard slog.
Agreed. I lived in BKK for 7 yrs. Still love the place for a weekend but could never live there again. The day to day of traffic, pollution and general chaos wore me down. I can only imagine it is worse for a majority of Thais whose salaries can barely keep pace with the cost of living in a sprawling metropolis that is forcing more and more to live further from their workplaces. But as another poster indicated, stress is a factor in all major world cities.
As you say, still one of the most vibrant and interesting cities on the planet (warts and all).

It's high time the authorities moved them on if they are serious about promoting Pattaya as a family destination.
Maybe ship them all off to a "penal" colony and make a reality TV show: Survivor - Ladyboy Island?

King County Sheriff's Dept has also issued ongoing arrest warrants for anyone who shares or reports this news.
Boeing, Starbucks and Microsoft (among others) have all expressed concern about the "image" and tourism industry of Seattle and VPOTUS has dispatched his newly appointed sycophant to investigate the "so-called" deaths in under 24 hrs, discredit the victims, and criminally charge any and all who bring this tragedy to light under sweeping legislation that ignores basic constitutional rights.

Clearly the roadworks dept need refresher training in Thai SOP on how to deal with road hazards: a twig with a plastic bag tied atop and placed in the holes.
To hell with those useless, high-vis barricades.

Meanwhile in my neck of the woods locals are swarming a local roti cart. But never mind, they have their "masks of invincibility" on...under their chins. Akin to wearing a bucket on one's head when riding a motorbike that is supposed to serve as a helmet. Won't save their lives but if it can avoid a fine...
