My mate sent me on a bum steer. Nameste is in Vientiane..
I did find the one mentioned above though, it's called Mirchi. It's a small clean place near the night market. The food was tasty and not expensive.
Asmfor the visa, no issues. Note the consul is closed on 14th , I also had to show my original wedding certificate
I found a good bar last night 100m from Aura, it was packed with live music. Come out of Aura and straight a cross the crossroads, you will see the round Heinekin sign. Big place, does food also. Not sure if busy on weekdays though.

Wi-Fi was good at aura last year, someone said to me they were in Avalon and the Wi-Fi was weak, that could have just been their room I guess.

Im flying here Wednesday, same as last year. Its a quiet little town but nice to stroll around. I stayed at aura last year and will again this week.. its clean and new, decent sized rooms and walking distance to the consul, and as I enjoy walking also walking distance to town.

Thanks Joe, I will try and dig out my old list of other required documents.
I recall a photo of the family, wedding certificate, kids with certificates, wides ID and copy of house registration, and photo of me for visa.

are there any recent updates regarding Savanakhet for Non Imm O?
I got one last year without showing the bank book, is this still the case?
This time I will have a letter from a prospective employer saying there is a job offer and a WP will be attached to the Non Imm O later with a salary in excess of 40K per month.
Also what other documents are required?
Cheers

This is confusing and I am happy this thread has appeared.
I have been here for 15 years and so far I am not aware of any landlord submitting a TM30 to say I am living in their premises. Is it my responsibility or the responsibility of the landlord to submit this form?
So far I have had no issues and never been questioned about this.
Any advice on what needs to be done with this will be appreciated, we moved into a new rented home on 1st January 2018.

Obviously you need to think about how strong the reactions of the old employer could be.
- Violence?
- Tell customers you and your new employer are untrustworthy and unreliable, you break agreements, unethical etc?
In my case it's a global company, there will not be violence and I will not be bad mouthing them, simply offering an alternative. I can't see my working as bring an issue based on what was deigned when I left, if they break that it opens it up for me to pursue them further also.
The work permit is my issue and I won't risk as I am married with children, deportation is not an option for me.

Contract said no for two years, however when I left we both signed an agreement that said there can be no legal redress on either side, I believe that negates my contract. That said I want everything to be legal with the new employer, I dont want the risk of working illegally.

Technically no, but what will you be doing, highly visible or working on the net from home?
It will be contacting and visiting clients, in the same industry I worked in previously. The risk is the old company contacting immigration to check my work status

Thanks. If I had a contract in China would that allow me to be here visiting clients?

Firstly, I am not new to Thailand having lived and worked here for 14 years, always legally.
I left my last employment three months ago and obtained a Non Imm O visa based on marriage.
I have a job offer for a start up company that is not yet operating in Thailand, it is headquartered in China. For the next three months they want me to work in Thailand but paid from China, onc3 completely set up in three months then it will convert to Thailand and a work permit..
Is it legal for me to work here while paid from China?

I was somewhat disappointed with Savannakhet as everything is so spread out and difficult to get to without a Tuk Tuk.
I stayed at the Avalon Residence and it was okay, the free breakfast was meh. Next time I'll probably stay next door at a place called Aura Residence, the food although not western was pretty good.
Pilgrims Kitchen & Inn is highly rated and close to a night market, the food mainly Mexican, American and Indian was pretty good. I didn't see an elevator there. For a good cheeseburger Lin's Cafe doesn't disappoint.

I stayed at Aura. People I spoke to at Avalon complained about poor wifi, Aura had no issues and is very clean.

When I flew to savannakhet recently Immigration didn't check my ticket status when they issued my VOA, I had a return, but as I say, it wasn't checked.

A few years back I got of the skytrain and had to sprint to the toilets in the Landmark before I shit myself. I was disappointed to see a cleaning lady leaning on the sink pretty much right outside the cubicle, I was sure what I was about to do would not be pleasent.
Anyway I managed to hold it in until I heard the door open and close, then I allowed all hell to let loose. The noise and smell was something to behold.
Anyway, when I had finished I opened the cubicle door to see it wasn't the cleaner leaving that I heard, but her friend coming in, I was left with two of them staring at me, nightmare.

I stayed at Aura, next door to Avalon. Everyone I spoke to from Avalon aid the wifi was not good, also have to take shoes off when you go in. Aura was no problems at all, very clean, decent restaurant, as I say, it's right next door to Avalon.
