I recall at school being taught that in ancient times all Olympics events were full nude.
I think, if I remember correctly, that you can go and see exactly that in frescos and sculptures in the British Museum. That's provided the exhibits haven't been stolen by the staff.

Didn't they used to do this type of wrestling naked back in the day?

Which is slightly cheaper than the cost of the tyres on my last EV (6.67 baht/km).
That's a weird brag. Hey! I really know how to spunk my money away.
Meanwhile Khun LA is furiously hammering away at his calculator trying to make it look like his Chinese MG costs less to run than a bicycle.

Can any of you EV enthusiasts enlighten me.
I understand the Tesla Model 3 starts at 1.7 million new.
So why would there be a whole bunch of secondhand Model 3s on One2car at 2 million plus?

Surely they could get the sub delivered without the engine.
Then make it into a long tail sub.

Well that is her definition as opposed to yours. In fact she gives more than one definition.
I tend to agree with her second definition as opposed to consumer tat.

That you don't bother with or know the finer things in life, up to you. If you want a kid to get a proper education and not let them live of a plastic cup of noodles or Som Tam 3 times a day, you need way more than 40K a month.
Handy that I don't have children then.
Define the finer things in life.

I was talking about the MG4X specifically and I thought Mat Watson's comments on aesthetics were spot on.
He rightly ridiculed the orange plastic brake caliper covers but I guess a fanboy could call them innovation on a production car.

Your quoting buying power in your comments, he wouldnt lose anything other than opportunity value.

I don't think the whole "masters of the universe" schtick really works in the OPs case but do carry on if you insist.
By that I mean Dan O!

Guessing don't drink alcohol and never travel, as 40k might cut it for single guy eating 40b soup it won't cut it for family of 3
How wrong can you be.
Yes I do have a wife but no children. My wife runs her own business and could easily support me but I do not want, or ask her, to do that.
I eat at restaurants most days because I prefer doing that to spending time buying ingredients, cooking them and cleaning up afterwards. I eat whatever I want and most days that is not 40 Baht soup; but sometimes it is.
The house is paid for as are the three cars. The farm generates a healthy income. I spend about 20% of my income from abroad each month and the rest is poured into more savings and investments.
I readily admit to being careful with my cash. Mostly because I remember how damn hard it was to earn it.
My only real reservation in respect of the OP is about the wisdom of making the leap at his age. Other than that if he has the determination to make a success of it go for it. I don't think there is any need for him to torch his assets back home. That would be unwise. The income would be enough.

I have no idea what some posters in response to the OP do with their money. Do they burn it in the back garden? Are they financially incontinent?
All the posts saying OMG you will be living in poverty living on 40K a month.
I couldn't spend 40K a month if I tried.
And guys wittering on about 'lifestyle'. What on earth are you talking about? You need to leave off the Kool Aid.

Oh dear. I now see all the Raptor/penis gags were done two hours before I did.

Well spotted. Could be quicker to 60 with a full battery at least, shall look forward to seeing the real life performance stats.
Not sure if I can post the link, but CarWow has an interesting video of an MG4 X vs the latest gen BMW M2 which is worth a watch.
I watched that.
The MG4X has the aesthetic qualities of a tart's handbag.

Mine was also made up until I spent time with a (fast) EV. Have an open mind and you can be surprised.I didn't know that. I have driven a top line Everest and it had a terrible sound system so I assumed the Raptor would be the same.
The other facts about it being plasticky, slow, noisy and smelly still stand even if it does have a decent sound system.I have a feeling that Ford make the Raptor specifically for men with small penises.

Despite some on this forum believing that I am an EV hater.....
A Tesla model 3 dual motor pulled up to me today at the PTT.
I thought it was cool AF.

just did my last border hop allowed last week in Chiang khong-Laos border
would have MUCH rather done Mae sai-burma which i was lucky enough to do 1st border hop
Now MS is close to tourists but allows thais make ZERO sense to me but welcome to thailand
So i hate having to go to vientiane laos and am able to get my 6 months total with the 2 allowed border hops.....always come here one way..no visa for 15 yrs.....
get 30 day stamp at bkk--fly to Cm--extend mae sai for 30+extend chiang khong 30+extend
gets me the 6 months and i heading home in Oct...having arrived in May
Was very easy apart from buying a Laos visa which drives me crazy as im not even "entering"
and foolishly rode my 100cc honda dream to CRai...took me 5 hrs..took the bus to CK next day
very nice up there..mellow with the rice fields and mountains and found a nice cottage as the bus stops running from CK-loas checkpoint at 3pm.....so walked to this cheap little resort..
always prefer mae sai as i can just pay the $10 usd but apart from paying for useless laos visa taking up my passport pages would use CK in the future.....the laos guys take usd but wanted 40 IF entering laos..50 if doing a turnaround...so i just paid the 1800 bt.....nice enough and very quit up there as i was the ONLY one there...thai side open daily until 8pm..take 25 bt bus over mekong
You can get a Laos E visa which saves a page in your passport but they will still hit you up for some cash at the border. That was my experience at Savannakhet.

I can only post as I find, the article posted says that whilst the cause of the fire is unknowm, it was not caused by an EV. That doesn't undermine my post.
What does undermine it is the link posted by "in the jungle" which cleary shows burned Porsche Taycan's. Until June this year, I owned a Taycan for 2 years and I can confirm those cars are indeed Porsche Taycans. My Taycan never caught fire.
I am not suggesting that Porsche Taycans caused the fire on the Fremantle Highway. But they certainly were on the ship and they burnt to the ground; or deck more accurately.
Maybe you should re-read your previous claims on this matter.

This article with the pretty astounding pictures of Porsche Taycans on the Fremantle Highway undermine your claim that no EVs were burnt.

That’s a good example.
It wasn’t caused by an EV fire.
After the fire on the car cargo ship off the Dutch coast, the media hastily identified an electric car as the cause. Now it turns out – that this is not true.
Even though the cause of the fire is still unknown, the EV theory no longer holds up after the freighter was inspected. The lower four of the twelve decks are essentially undamaged, and about 1,000 cars, including the 498 electric ones, are in good condition. This is according to the chief of salvage company Royal Boskalis Westminster NV, Peter Berdowski.
According to the head of the salvage company, the four uppermost decks, on which there were no electric cars, are so damaged that it is hard to walk on them and that the vehicles there (again, no EVs!) are literally fused to the ground. The affected carmakers are now investigating how their vehicles can be moved.

"Even though the cause of the fire is still unknown"
Your quote undermines your definitive statement that EVs were not the cause.

The issue with EV fires is not the frequency. The severity of EV fires is the problem. I give you the Fremantle Highway as Exhibit A.
These issues can be dealt with and should be dealt with but right now many manufacturers are focusing on growth rather than safety.

ICE vs EV, the debate thread

There must be crash damaged batteries, flood damaged and others that just failed.
Hopefully they don't toss them into the land fill.
