Huh? Post from the UK to Thailand normally takes a few days at the most. Sounds as though you're making excuses for not fitting the bank's UK-resident requirements!
Did you consider the possibility that others may have a different experience to you?
My experience is in line with the OPs.

So you think he should give up at the first bump in the road.
Your advice is poor and unhelpful.
What interest have you in closing down this guy's options?

Or sitting on a barstool next to them ... oh wait ... that's why I don't go to bars.
Only thing I could imagine worse, would be the life their partners have to endure daily with their drivel, though I'd be surprised if any have partners in life.
And yet here you are. 12989 posts and counting.

I do wonder whether the Thai Revenue department actually have mechanisms in place to know who has been here more than 180 days a year.
Sure Immigration have that information in their system but I would be willing to bet that calculating whether you were here more than 180 days a year would be a manual process on a case by case basis.
To illustrate my point I have been here 23 years and I have had no contact with the Revenue Department. Until 2019 I had never applied for an extension of stay.
I don't think Thai officialdom are big on 'joined up government'. The same is true of many western governments.

The aim of any replacement technology is to be cheaper and more efficient than its predecessor, permit me to doubt lemons fulfill the second requirement.
ASEAN would not be complete without a cohort of aspiring comedians.
That is a bit of a simplistic approach. EV evangelists bang on about environmental considerations normally.

@Celsius If you put 20k kms on a year, we calculated we'll probably save over 460k baht, just on petrol cost, with our EV.
That's an accurate cost of MG ZS ICE version (we owned), vs our EV version, we own now. Doesn't even include the oil changes (10k) & tune ups.
Your MG ICE must have been a gas hog to come up with that calculated saving.

Wife just test drived BYD Dolphin and was mildly impressed especially by 699k 1.8% price tag. She avoids buying Chinese cars but perhaps getting 8 years out of this car (warranty supposedly 8 years) is worth it even if it is completely not resellable after that. They also pay first year insurance premium.
Whatdoyathink?
If I am thinking of the right car the more expensive variant has longer range and is way quicker on the 0 to 100 kph time. This cheaper one you are going to be sucking up the exhaust of diesel pickups every set of lights. It's a bit of a snail.

My guess it will play out like here in Colombia. If here for over a certain amount of time you pay tax period. That includes any pension. And the tax rates are much more than in the US. Most guys here with assets stay the minimum time allowed then either move to another country until the clock resets or they hire a tax attorney to do their taxes.
Basically it has stopped all wealthy or even anyone with a decent retirement income to consider retiring here full time.
Wouldn't that be "stay the maximum time allowed"?

I think you are over thinking this.
1. It is very unlikely you will break down
2. If you do break down it is unlikely you will be more than about 10 minutes from a bike shop of some sort.
3. Ask around and you can fix the problem. If your language skill is not up to it hand gestures plus pen and paper will work.
4, Money helps.

If there's one with our, within next 7 yrs (8yr warranty), MG will deal with. I would think within 10 yrs, battery shops will start popping up, as the supply & demand will dictate.
Unless an oops, I'm expecting the wife will get 25 yrs out of ours, before any need to be concerned, and that's if it only gets about half it's life expectancy.
900k kms ... if we drive/she drives 20k kms a year, that's only 500k kms. Battery pack isn't the concern, and just hope the rest of the cars lasts. I doubt very much if she'll drive that much after I'm gone.

Seriously?
You think an EV battery is still going to be going strong after 50 years?
