I am no IT expert but on my PC i have software called "Dell Display Manager". You can download it from Dell's website.

The officer being interviewed actually stated that Asylum Seekers were being prevented from leaving the country whilst their asylum claim was still active.
I understand that if they did actually leave the UK then their claim was withdrawn.
This guy is not a "Border Force Chief". More likely a Chief Immigration Officer which is junior management level.
I cannot envisage why he, or anyone else in Border Force, would wish to stop an asylum claimant returning to their home country. Such a trip to their home country would surely be grounds for refusing entry if they were to return by legal means.
If they were to return by illegal means such as on a small boat or by clandestine entry the fact they made a trip back to their home country would undermine any renewed claim for asylum.

It's called politics. Support EVs, which USA isn't known for producing, or cater to ICEV auto makers in more than a few states, that produce vehicle:
Michigan. 43,800. 123,000.
Indiana. 56,800. 51,400.
Ohio. 21,100. 64,900.
Kentucky. 23,300. 32,900.
Alabama. 19,500. 25,400.
California. 32,300.
Texas. 14,900.
Missouri. 11,600
Remember he lost Michigan (#1 producer) late in 2020 election.

Nio has completed
Including China, Nio now has 2,217 PSSs spread across six markets, which have provided nearly 33 million battery swaps to users.
https://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/ev-manufacturer-nio-opens-30th-battery-swap-station-in-europe
That does not demonstrate it is a good idea. It simply means Nio have implemented it at some scale.
Have you looked at Nio's financial position?

Progress on new criteria for EV car insurance On December 12, 2023, the OIC or the Office of the Insurance Commission published 'Registrar Order No. 47/2023
This order will affect insurance companies. Various conditions can be added to EV car insurance policies starting January 1, 2024, but if any insurance company is unable to make changes in time, they have time to prepare until May 31, 2024 , when all insurance companies must enforce the conditions. This order
https://www.amarintv.com/spotlight/business-marketing/detail/56923
In addition to the main policy people can purchase additional battery coverage or Battery Replacement so that the insurance company will cover the battery 100%.
Set protection criteria for EV car chargers
Another part included in A new criterion for EV car insurance in this edition is 'EV Charger Protection', which is an additional part that car owners can choose to purchase additional insurance for their EV chargers.
The entire document can be downloaded from the Thai General Insurance Association 151 pages Thai language only
https://www.tgia.org/gia_insurance-TH_0#:~:text=คำสั่งนายทะเบียนที่,15%2F12%2F2023 ดาวน์โหลดเอกสาร
Thai insurance companies have a track record for huge mistakes in judging the risks they are assuming. I suspect that is why EV insurance is so much cheaper here than in Europe and the USA.

I am pretty sceptical about the idea of battery swapping.
EV batteries can weigh hundreds of kilos but, as well as the complications that are inherent in that, battery swapping means repeatedly making and breaking electrical contacts that carry a lot of electrical current. That latter point is IMO a bad idea.
EVs seem to be moving to a form where the battery is a major structural component of the car. I think there are good reasons for that but repeatedly removing such a structural element on anything other than a dimensionally accurate jig would make no sense.

I wouldn't bother with Carbon Fibre.
Fine if you are Marc Marquez or Lewis Hamilton but they get theirs for free.
I use an Arai mostly because I find them very comfortable. Construction is mostly fibreglass with some kevlar.

Nio is offering its Chinese customers ane Europeans to either purchase a car with Battery or purchase a car without a battery and providing a Battery rental service.
Battery can be charged in the normal method or at a Battery swap out station
where you can get a replacement fully charged battery in 5 minutes
with the battery as a service option you never own the battery so no worries about battery degradation
if you have the 75-kwh battery and you need more powerful battery for long road trip you can rent 100-kwh battery for one month and then swap back to 75-kwh battery
https://www.drive.com.au/news/new-nio-battery-swap-stations-europe/
NIO ET5 Touring prices in China
Starting price with battery
75-kWh ¥298,000 RMB
100-kWh ¥356,000 RMBStarting Price without Battery
75-kWh ¥228,000 RMB
100-kWh ¥228,000 RMBBattery monthly rental price
75-kWh ¥980 RMB
100-kWh ¥1,680 RMB
paying battery monthly rental for 71.5 months for 75-kwh will be the same as buying car with battery
paying battery monthly rental for 76 months for 100-kwh will be the same as buying car with batteryhttps://cnevpost.com/2023/06/15/nio-launches-et5-touring/
NIO Launches Battery as a Service
https://www.nio.com/news/nio-launches-battery-service
MY view is renting the lowest capacity battery for 99% of your vehicle journeys and paying extra for 1 month and doubling the capacity of the battery especially if your driving during a public holiday and the option of upgrading after 6 years with zero battery degradation does sound appealing
I think in the future Insurance companies will have to have a separate criteria on Battery degradation for owners that either rent their batteries or have modular batteries such as the MG ZS which just needs to change a single battery modular that is failing rather than the entire battery
The 100 kWh battery monthly rental charge in China is more than five times what I spend on petrol in a month. Then you have to pay more to charge it.

One2car is a useful yardstick but they are probably all Bangkok dealer prices.
On a private sale I would say ask at the bottom of the One2car range and be happy if you get 50K less.
So advertise at 700K, or rather 699K, 695K or whatever and be happy if you get 50K less. Of course location matters and if the car is Hat Yai or Mukdahan there will be a smaller pool of potential buyers than Bangkok so it may take time.

The motorcyclist moved before the light turned green but the taxi driver almost certainly ran a red light.
I have learned to look both ways when the light turns green because jumping red lights is very common here.

China is far from perfect. But at least they don’t go round bombing those who have different values and beliefs.
They have put a huge number of Muslims in concentration camps. Other muslims endure slave labour and forced sterilisation.

Is this three wheel thing legal on the roads in Thailand? I assume not.
That said I suspect the driver of the truck bears a significant part of the blame for the child's death.

My experience is that it doesn't quite work like that, although I'd love to be proven wrong.
A few times here I've tried to match old paint which has faded (evenly) slightly over time. Took a sizeable chunk of it to more than one paint retailer. All they can do it match it to their closest colour. Often close enough, but rarely a perfect match.
If your wife can perfectly match any colour precisely, so that the dried result exactly matches the sample, I'd potentially give it a shot if my house purchase goes through next month.
As with car paint mixing systems where the process is similar, ultimately how good the match is is down to the eye of the person mixing the paint. Some are better than others.
My wife, or rather her workers, do not paint houses. Generally they are working on much larger buildings and structures. Right now they are working on an EGAT power station. Often large corporate customers have corporate colours and will provide the paint formula and specify the supplier it is to be sourced from.

My wife runs a paint business. They can do whatever colour you like.
The paint formulation is done by a computer controlled machine. The base paint is generally white and then they add colours (or tints as they tend to call them) using the computer which delivers precise quantities of the tint.
They can work from a sample or, alternatively, they will have a huge number of formulations in the computer which they can work from. If you have a large job to do make sure to mix all the paint at the same time to ensure colour consistency.

At this price point I would not bother with secondhand.
Another point in favour of buying new is that the paperwork is much simpler.

If I sold it in the first year I could have sold it at a profit.Waiting list was 12-18 months at the time.
A secondhand Porsche with a 12-18 months waiting list for a new car is hardly a typical EV.
It is unreasonable to imply that the depreciation you experienced on that is what you can expect with a more mainstream EV.

Did the run yesterday.
Ended up doing Club Andaman. 2600 Baht, all smooth. Took ferry, got stamped, awaited the next ferry. Point of interest was the immigration giving people a hard time upon re-entry to Thai. Assuming they are tourist visas as me on a non-o had no questions at all.
I did firstly go to the long-tail place but the immigration officer attempted to give me an 'intimidating' shake down, but I wasn't having any of it thus went to club andaman. Speaking Thai, non-o in hand and literally a passport full of visas, the bloke made himself look like a tit in front of a growing audience and his colleges. Hopefully he'll think twice before attempting it on somebody else.
Anyway, to anybody reading this.. Head to club andaman to avoid any potentially uncomfortable situations.
Your experience at Ranong pier was broadly the same as mine. I have used Andaman Club many times over the years without problems.
Ranong is about 120km from my home so going there is an easy day trip for me.

So you go through this expensive process to get a yellow book and then they ask you for another document that you cannot provide.
