First, it was rational to be extra cautious, because we didn't have a lot of data, the virus was "new", and what was happening in China was, well, scary.
Fair enough. And I posted several messages here in that way.
But now, we have to face the reality.
And the reality does not match the global circus that is organized under our eyes.There is a complete cognitive dissonance.
This is really bad. And scary. Not this virus (a mild flu, but highly contagious) but :

The virus is the "Wuhan flu" virus.

Her 2 parents are old, and with very small income ... They need medical care... And if your wife has no income on her own... What would you do ? Complain and cry about a little bit of money, and let them rot ?
Think like a western man of the 19th century. The "bourgeois mariage" was... a contract.
A deal.
Love, if any, would come, eventually, after. As a bonus. ????
You see... nothing new under the sun !
So in order to keep your fair share of sanity, i would advise you to stop the paranoia ("they take advantage of me ! Help momy !"), stop pretending like a teenager to "defeat the system" or "game the game"... and just see those gestures as "social".
Take it seriously as your responsability as a man. And lightly as well.
That's the key, to put some distance.
At the end of the day, would you complain about having a happy wife, with her happy parents ?

When the thai officials talk, think, consider, do press conferences and meetings, and mull several "plans"....
The FED cuts interest rates to 0 (New Zeland did a large cut this week end as well) and launches QE5, with 800 billions to buy up all the sxxxx paper around.
We agree : it won't be enough. The virus does not care about "balance sheets" and "papers".
But... Thailand is doing nothing.
They do nothing to fight seriously againts the virus, and nothing to keep the system afloat.

I'd say : perfecty fine.
This "certificate" is as... smart as the "mandatory form" designed by the french governement, for the people who want to leave their home during quarantine.
If they don't sign this form, and take it with them when they go outside to walk the dog... the police can impose a fee... of 38 euros.
So a "medical certificate" to visit Thailand ? ... i say bring it on !
As far as hysteria and stupid ideas are concerned.... the thai governement follows the world trends !
