When those inane "officials" are going to shut their mouth ?
Fundamentals ?
Which ones ?
-Tourism ? Gone.
-construction / real estate ? Gone.
-car industry ? Gone.
Wake up.
In a few months, they will beg us to buy anything.... and they will lower the VAT.

Classic "Lalaland" reporting...
They were infected because they were together, in a confined environment.... Like in a train for instance, at rush hour. ????
The "cigarette" et the "glass" are made up so the public can feel good, and avoid panic.
Anyway, it's just a flu.
90 dead yesterday in car accidents.
(yes I've made up my mind : the Wuwuflu virus is not terrible. It's just a super flu. People will die, but nothing apocalyptic. However, the way this virus is used... is a clear psyop).

"elaborated that measures being put in place will include inspection of aircraft seats, "
Facepalm factorized by the the annual production of rice (in kilos), and multiplied by the number of beers sold in 1 day.
This virus gives opportunities to all the maniacs with an uniform to... show off in front of camera and throw out their inane and pseudo "ideas".

don't have one rule for income producing tourists & another for locals returning home
Bingo. Spot on. Indeed.
I would be a "thai labourer" coming back from South Korea, i'd do the same, and as bonus I would give the finger to whatever "authorities".
This "double speak / double standard" is just unbearable.
The problem is only... face as usual and prejudices. Some of those "thai labourers" are prostitutes, hence the double standard.
So until the pseudo "authorities" can figure out that 1+1 = 2.... the mess is likely to continue.
Close the borders, massive testing, and same treatment for everyone !
Everything else is plain BS.

I tend to give this theory some credit based on the numbers of Singapore, it's still going up in Singapore but that's to be expected.
What I'm looking for is slowness as opposed to massive acceleration which seems to be happening in countries like Italy, France and Germany which are all pretty cold right now.
Yes. Let's not forget.... Malaysia. A rather cold country.

Laboratory results of the other 4,186 PUI showed 2,411 negative results to the virus causing COVID-19 and results are pending for 1,775 PUI.
This is 2 days ago. So the number of pending test results would be over 2.000 now. Thailand has very few cases, because they simply only do few tests every day. They have absolutely no control over the containment of this.
And to add insult to injury, let's remember the past days....
3 march = 1598
4 march = 1615
5 march = 1656
6 march = 1775To be complete : this "pending results for PUI" indicator have been added on march 3.
We had it as well, february 11, 12, 13.
And from january 25 to february 2.
So to summarize : it's a joke.
No tests, no cases.
Tests are done for the most obvious and high profile cases (the guy coming back from Italy for instance, the guy who was working for... King Power shop [and who died], etc.).

30 minutes ago, rabas said:PUI testing explained?
Before March 3 they were reporting only the number of PUI and 'confirmed' cases ~45.
On March 3, they started reporting how many a) tested negative, and b) were 'awaiting test results'.
As of March 6 there are 4234 PUI persons under investigation:
-- Recovered, returned home = 2442
-- Hospitalized, being treated = 1726
Testing:
Test result is negative = 2411
Awaiting test results = 1775
Why, is the number of 'awaiting test results' almost equal the number begin treated, and negative results equal to those cured? Why are there so many awaiting results now that they have fast PCR testing?
They don't release hospitalized patients until they test negative, so probably they don't report the test results until a patient is cured. When all is done they 'report' the final negative result. That's Thai style, why report something unnecessary?
You describe perfectly one of the several manipulations used by the authorities.
For instance, from january 25 to february 2, they gave "pending results" and "total lab results : other" (AKA negative : normal flu, etc.)
Then they stopped.
From february 1 to february 10 they gave what was a very precious indicator : "patients in isolation room" (precious because if someone is in isolation room, his case is severe).
Then they stopped
There is only one constant in those reports : to biase, to deceive, to gain time, to save face, to cut the numbers, to manipulate public perception etc.
Remember the infected guy who arrived from italy a few days ago ? He was tested VERY QUICKLY.
So the idea that they can't test the 1631 "undergoing treatment"... is ridiculous.
THEY DON'T WANT TO TEST THEM.

Too bad.
Total (do not laugh) : 50 (even Malaysia, a very cold country, tops us with 83 cases)

It's time to end this nonsense.
On the offical report 4 february, they have :
1577 "Undergoing treatment (Private hospitals: 874 cases, Government hospitals: 671 cases)"
That's +32 compared to february 3. And february 3 that was +125 compared to the day before.
Ok.
https://ddc.moph.go.th/viralpneumonia/eng/file/situation/situation-no61-040363.pdf
It's a report about the Wuwuflu virus ! Who gives a sxxxx if those PUI have the normal flu, pneumonia, cancer or whatever.... and are currently hospitalized !
Just :
-test the new "PUI" for the virus, every day
-and publish the results
That's all !
This system of "undergoing treatment" in a report about the virus, is totally dishonest and misleading.
If a patient shows symptoms, and is "undergoing treatment", just test him. If he's negative, no need to talk about him, no need to add him to the report.

Unless they test those "suspected cases"... the whole stuff is pointless and not interesting.
Thailand should do like Korea, like Italy.... MASSIVE TESTING.
And it should announce the total number of tested people, and update it every day.
It's the only way to:
-assess the real situation
-inform correctly the public
-and eventually save more people
Obviously Thailand has decided to go another way, like USA. The BS way, the "head into the sand" way, the "mai ru" way, the "pruni it will be better" way, the "spring, tom yam and prik will save us" way.

(to talk about the "merits" from an economic point of view of such "decision" would be of course inane.).
The reaction is always the same.
It shows a state of mind. A specific way to see the world, deeply ingrained.
The feudal state of mind.
For any question and/or problem... let's give to the serf/peasant/slave a "token" (a bag of rice, a picture, a medal, a coin, a 1000 THB bill etc.).
Really fascinating.

A beautiful operation, really.
As for the pseudo "minister".... the virus will kill him. Soon.

Ok. So, today there was a news conference for clarification. And, this resulted in absolutely no clarity on the issue of travel restrictions/quarantines?
For the 3863763 times... they flipped, changed their mind. And lost their face.
NO MANDATORY (SELF) QUARANTINE.
Just a pathetic list of "risky countries", and hot air blabla.
Period.
Nothing else, like we predicted.
And meanwhile, snap, bad luck... a guy coming from London (february 29) was infected.
Again, it's a PR disaster for the thai authorities : they should close the borders, impose quarantine etc... But they are powerless, spineless.
So we will continue to import, litterally, tourists and... the virus.
Again and over again.
It's sanook !

I would be even more radical.
What we enjoyed during the last 30 years (AKA economic development) was just a... parenthesis. In time.
We are going back to "long term" trend. AKA : hardship.
What I call the "Great Empoverishment".
Someone was talking about France and Germany. This phenomenon is worldwide, indeed.
Western countries are just starting from higher. It means the process will take a little more time.
As for Thailand, the long term trend was always behind, ready to come back : feudal system.
Nothing less, nothing more.
The dream of a "middle class" is gone.
Now, like from dawns of time, we have only 2 classes : the ruling class, and the... peasants, the slaves.
Soon, the little princes and princesses from Bangkok, who thought they'd have it all with their Iphone (bought on credit) and their stupid sxxxty job in airconditioned offices... we'll return to their original... class and world...
And it will be painful.
"La fête est finie".
The party is over.

To be fair all European countries make all the same mistakes.
You still can come and go into/out most of Italy, Germany...
Italians still can travel to most countries in Europe. It seems to be very difficult (or don't want to?) to shut down all borders and travel in/out from a country even with a pandemic.
It's not a mistake.
It's done on purpose.
They are not in "containement" phase, because real containement goes against their open borders ideology (it's not even anymore an ideology, but a furious mental disease).
They are in "mitigation" phase.
Which you can translate by : "our healthcare system can cope... we will have casualties but it's okay, soon spring and warm temperature will come... the virus will die off... So we do nothing. We do not break the consensus".
In a word : hope. Or wishful thinking if you prefer... ????
If western governments were efficients and were having long term vision... we would know by now !
Like Thailand, there are just a bunch of parasits, inane bureaucrats and crazied ideologists.

Back to the inane reporting of Nation...
So, like in school... "define returnees".
"You have 3 hours. I'll fetch your papers at the end".
????
To summarize. We do have a list. It has been published.
Of course, this list is ridiculous, but mai pen rai, it exists and they will have to amend it very quickly.
But a part from this list... we have nothing else.
-who are "returnees" ? Thai coming back and/or tourists coming from those countries ?
-what is "mandatory self quarantine" ? How it will be applied ? How it will be controled ? By who ? etc.

Bring back Big Joke. His name would be perfect in a country increasingly obviously run by a bunch of jokers!
You missed the beginning !
Actually the circus started tuesday
-the minister announced such a list and such mandatory quarantine
the list was longer with France and Germany
-the medias reported bad (nation talked only about "returnees" (thais tourists) not tourists arriving from those countries)
-then the so called minister erased his post on facebook
-bloomberg understood that it was BS.... "not decided yet, they are talking about it"
-the thai embassy in Singapore reacted in panic mode "no no tourists coming to Thailand from Singapore won't have a quarantine"
-than today : "si si we do it, the list is official, but only 6 countries, and quarantine is mandatory EVEN if the tourist has no symptoms"
-tonight : "confirmed. sure...."
-tonight later : heu.... well... the quarantine perhaps not. Mai ru. Mai ko chai.
So see you pruni for the next episode of this amazing show.
????
Since the beginning I called BS... Thailand would never have the balls to impose a quarantine... to tourists !
And in any case such "mandatory quarantine" would be grotesque (no control whatsover).
If you don't want to have Italian coming here with their viruses ... just ban them, stop the flights coming from Italy !
But to tell them "OK come, sure, buy your ticket, you're welcome... But when you arrive, you must stay 2 weeks in your hotel room" DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE.

"The message is now clear, #Thailand is open to tourists."

South Korea
China
Macao
HK
Italy
Iran
????
This thread is getting better and better.
Brace for the denial of the confirmation of the denial of the confirmation... in a few hours.
Ah... just printed... The newspaper we can't name... says the same thing.
This list of 6 has been published. Mandatory... quarantine for tourists coming from those 6 countries.
Mandatory but... Up to you. ????
"Stay in ur hotel for 14 days"
"Sure"
????
Brace for.... France, Germany will be added in a few days (because the epidemic exploses in Europe)... So we will go back to square one !
The first list of FaceBook Minister, AKA the so called "health minister"...

Thai GDP growth to fall to 0.8 per cent, lowest in nine years: Tisco

Talks about "balances" are pointless at this time.
What matters is : jobs, income
This will seal the fate of the THB, on the long run.
The whole "open economy" (well usually in one way only in Thailand !) linked to stupid "inflated assets"... this whole charade is crumbling.
Hence : we are going back to "normal", and long term trends. AKA : hardship for millions and millions Thais.
-The little car, built here, and bought on credit ? Terminated.
-The little condo shoe box bought on credit ? Terminated.
-All the local businesses and jobs linked to tourism ? Terminated.
-All the stupid "service" jobs (banks, offices etc.) ? Terminated.
-All the White elephant investments ? Terminated.
-Big governement ? Terminated.
Fear, everywhere.
People in Bangkok are going to suffer a lot. Upcountry ? Less.
But it's important to remember that the virus is just a pretext, a cover story... The crisis was there, under, since 2008 (well even 2000, or even 1987).
It's the end on a epoch.
