Marco Rubio Demands Apology from Zelensky After Heated Oval Office Clash
Gecko replied to Social Media's topic in World News
A German magazine commented: It is the script of a TV show host who is experienced in staging. Trump had the conditions for a deal dictated to him by Putin: Ukraine must vacate all provinces in the east, no NATO troops can be stationed in Ukraine, and Ukraine must be demilitarized. Since Putin is not well-regarded as a deal partner even in the U.S., Trump can only sell this deal to his country if he humiliates Ukraine and portrays it as ungrateful and disgusting. -

Backpacker Paradise or Overcrowded Chaos? Pai Struggles with Tourism Boom
Gecko replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
In The Beach the movie it says: Just keep your mind open and suck in the experience. And if it hurts, it's probably worth it. The only downer is, everyone's got the same idea. We all travel thousands of miles just to watch TV and check into somewhere with all the comforts of home. And you gotta ask yourself......What is the point of that? Well, I did watch movies in the evenings in Pai 20 years ago 😁, was quite relaxing actually. But okay, there were just a handful of people who watched with me. -
Pricewise for rct? Can't see a price list on the website.

Nope. No rural life at all, apartment in the city; Big C, Tesco, Robinson are here. Lived on 20k for some years. It still can be done. But if you want more comfort, a good health insurance and enjoy western food and lots of traveling, 30 k is the least.

I've had enough of the Tourist Ghettos in Thailand!
Gecko replied to BarBoy's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Kamphaengphet. You can walk around without seeing any farang. -
My first salary as a teacher was 20k. In the province, not BKK. The apartment 2k plus water/energy. You can definitely live on 20k.

What you could do is to use say 800k and invest it in Crypto or stocks that promise high returns. You may double it or lose 80%, Everything is possible.😇

Here it's discounted for some time already, but not buy 1 get 1 free. I think it's 189 for one.

It's cheaper, but the taste is not the best imho.

Are cars legally required to stop for a zebra?
Gecko replied to berro's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
if I stop with my motorcycle, I'm quite sure all following cars or motorcycles will not and I bring myself in danger or the pedestrians. -
Does "qualified" here mean meeting the specific requirements (like formal education and credentials) to be recognized as a legitimate or authorized teacher in Thailand? If so, that would mean that someone is not a teacher, even though they have a work permit for teaching and a teaching license from Khurusapa.

Bus Number 556 - Suvarnbhumi - Southern Bus Terminal
Gecko replied to coconutty's topic in Suvarnabhumi Airport Forum
Very old thread but still the same answers are given these days. "Don't be a cheap Charlie." If you can't afford it, stay home." It's only...". Some people seem to have no idea that others are on a very low budget, and the "only £5" sums up quickly. Just my 5 Cents. -
Thai Hotels Struggle as Mid-Priced Rooms Fail to Attract Tourists
Gecko replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Me too. My budget is usually 500-600 per night. Would rather spend the money for shopping, food and entertainment. Actually my first room in Thailand back in 2001 was 50 baht per night. It was ok, jus ta bed in a tiny room. But yes, some of the cheap rooms at that time looked exactly as the ones you can see in "The Beach". 😄 -
Yep, but at the guesthouse it's more obvious. And it's not that far to the Hilton.

A bit off topic. I stayed in guesthouses in this area many years ago. The strange thing was that the toilet flushed directly into the sea. Still the same?

That's not the point.
