  1. I'm guessing it was a joke.... Loved the Isuzu X commercials they ran back in the old days when you could go to the theater to see a movie....
  2. Yes, the "sport" version of a sport utility vehicle. Why do they not promote the "utility: version? It is what it is. It's as silly as a sport version of a corolla or civic. "Sport" packages are typically appearance packages only. That said, if you like the appearance, they may be worth the extra dough.
  3. I was just razzing. I don't doubt the thing on Lazada is junk. A few thousand Baht one way or the other does not mean much in the scheme of things. the important thing is that you are happy with them. You do not like the existing seats or you just want to protect them? The seat in mine are one of my favorite things.
  4. Rather than starting off by telling your contractor what to do, why not get a detailed quote that includes a bill of material and go from there?
  5. "Free" insurance is generally for the first year, and it is common for the "free" service to be labor only.
  6. I use my local Toyota dealer as well and I am happy enough with the value, but if they greased my brakes I would go someplace else. In any event, I was only commenting on how much cheaper Isuzu service was, not complaining about the cost of the Toyota service. The Toyota service is fine, and the "free" coffee and snacks are priced appropriately. Incidentally, my Isuzu dealer had "free" coffee, snacks and "valet" as well. Also got other free <deleted> now and then as well.
  7. Please try something. Each time you fill the tank, record the amount of fuel you add and the current mileage. Keep the data in a spreadsheet and after a few months you should have a reasonably accurate idea what your fuel economy actually is, rather than what the onboard computer estimates it to be. You should end up with something like this: With this, I can also sort by fuel type and compare the mileage I get with B7 the to the mileage I get with B10. I know I can trick the computer into telling my I'm getting great mileage, I have no interest in that. I want to know what my mileage actually is.
  8. Why anyone expects the staff that process them at Immigration to know or be able to do anything about the system is beyond me. It would be like having an issue with CP online and expecting the staff at seven to help you...
  9. Never had one, guy I worked with had an old pan (early '60s maybe) he bought at police auction in the '70s for (I think) $600.
  10. Yeah, nightmare, but the meter-maids did look pretty hot on them....
  11. The A/T fluid is pumped though a filter a large secondary filter to remove all the contaminates while it is operating. And the transmission often does not last 200,000km. I would not do anything to the A/T other than check the fluid until 100,000km, and then I would just change the fluid. If a filter is not picking up contaminates, why would there be a filter?
  12. We painted a canteen roof with the TOA roof paint and it still looked good after ten years.... But it is not a sealant...
  13. Tape cardboard over the doors and windows on both sides. This should give you an idea of what the maximum benefit you can get from changing them. If you have typical cement/brick walls they let a lot of noise through.
  14. I'll second the Isuzu. M/T is okay if you're not in Bangkok often...
  15. A "mercedes" driver that hits the curb every time he parks !!! hahahaha can't stop laughing ! Thank you
  16. Yeah, well if I lived on a farm I would likely feel different about it....
  17. It costs 2-3 times as much to have Toyota service the 2wd Fortuner (~B3K) than it did to have Isuzu service the 2wd Highlander (~B1,200) Total cost of ownership on the Isuzu can't beat.
  18. What parts were listed on the quote from your mechanic? If he quoted 30K for parts and 3K for labor, he may know exactly what the issue is and it may have nothing to do with the A/T. If I owned a 4wd pickup with 200K on it and the A/T was truly going out I would sell it and buy something else, unless I could get a good junkyard replacement. A a note, even if nothing is wrong with the A/T, I would take it to one of the shops that have the units that "re-refines" the fluid, have that done and then change the fluid & filter a month later.
  19. I guess some guys can drive in the mud....
  20. How old is the battery? As others have said, they don't last long, they are cheap, easy to check and easy to replace. B-Quick or any of the other chains will check the battery and charging system free. You can watch them check it and they will give you an easy to understand print-out. It is a good starting point, and if the battery is weak, it won't hurt replacing it even if it does not solve the problem.
