As the air gets cooler, there is generally less moisture in the air. A purifier removes contaminants from the air, a humidifier (not surprisingly) adds humidity to the air. Our purifiers have integrated humidifiers. I don't care about them, but my wife loves them. Air conditioners remove humidity during the cooling process, and a humidifier puts it back.
