  1. What's disgusting  are you assumptions and rush to judgement. Take the time and think it through.
    1. Why is it unfair to staff? They are not paid if they do not work. Most shop staff live pay stub to pay stub.  Are you going to   compensate for their lost wages? The staff that wish to attend will not be stopped.   Don't assume that anyone is being stopped. There has been ample opportunity to pay respects at a designated area  which an estimated 25% of the population has done over the past year.

    2. Where do you expect people to get something to eat or drink if they are out for this event? Some people are elderly, and others have  young kids. They need to eat even if something small. The small pushcart vendors are not supposed to be on the street where the event is occurring. This is for safety reasons as well as for decorum.

    3. The malls are open as a public service. It is hot and at times has rained heavily. The malls provide a place of shelter as well as a viewing opportunity. I see the provision of some skeleton services before the mandatory closing time as a responsible act.

My thai gf of 5 yrs who’s 46yrs was desperate to go to kings palace to pay respects and actually be there but I said the only way would be to have 25th off as well as 26, but her company Chinese company refused even tho she had served the company well for 25yrs .. we had to wait until after 5:30pm 25th to set of the 3hrs to bkk, we lined up all night but by 2am it was announced that the palace was full ... needless to say that brought a lot of heartache ...

My point is most company’s don’t give much of toss when it comes to replaceable stall , she had to go to work when the king dies when the kings body returned to the palace etc... and for those companies who make staff work on the day their beloved king is cremated are disgusting and don’t give a toss about people only money ...

What would the government think about a company that fires a worker for “taking this day off”?

My guess they would kick their ass right back to china or where ever they are from lol

Their is a 100% quick fix to this issue... if the beach is filthy stay off and don’t rent chair.. the Thais know the importance or the tourist trade.. my advice to beach goers is go visit the other attractions temples etc instead of paying to slum it with the trash ... I’m sure after 3 days of empty beaches they will clean up their act to get everyone back..

  3. You will not get a multiple entry visa at immigration.
You can get a 90 day non immigrant (category O) visa entry and then during the last 30 day of the entry you can apply for a one year extension of stay based upon retirement. You will need 800k baht in a Thai bank or proof of 65k baht or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht.

I actually got in Thailand on a 90 day tourist visa that expires in December but have now changed it to O retirement visa it also expires in December lol - but I’m told I can go in again to extend for 1yr multi entry in November so I will be have the my old type 1 yr multi entry again but you guys out there on the same” check your dates and mark in on your calendar cos it’s a pain to keep going over the system!!!

  4. The outstanding amount she is stuck with is B100 000 plus - he did cough up with an initial payment but leaving her to sign-off for the outstanding balance.
Have already advised her, he pays the balance plus some extra or no divorce or see her in court in Thailand.

Maybe if she has his name and home address she can issue for failure to pay a medical bill or better still the hospital should bill him direct as this is clearly a con on a innocent Thai who clearly didn’t have any medical work personally... I guess the Hospital would of obtained a copy of his passport..

As he was married to her maybe their is more to this story, as I didn’t read anywhere what medical work he actually had done..

  5. this con works both ways (99% thai against westerners) by greedy selfish careless individuals who have in a premeditated way chosen their victim for “hit n run” with total disregard to the emotional wreck they leave behind... what makes this different is the fact this lady obviously loved this guy enough to actually care about his well-being and thus pay for his Hospital treatment.

There’s just something not right about that at all!

How much was the Hospital bill that was worth running away from??

Advise To the Thai Girl who paid....
Sell him a divorce for x2 of Hospital bill lol

  6. I get boxes of 500/1000 screws from MegaHome, 11/2, 2, 21/2, 3 inch 10s (or 6s or 8s even 12s) in dome or countersunk. The "screws" aisle in MegaHome Rangsit (mostly) provides something that will do the job.

I've also done quite a few things using the hex-head roofing screws with the "brass" heads exposed as a "feature" (take off the rubber washer), available to 4" and longer.

Coach bolts and coach screws come from our local "magic" (hardware) place. Turn up with a photo and the old dear disappears off round the back and re-materializes from the opposite direction with several sizes of what you want, sold by the kilo (they would be "each" back home).

    Went into
Mega home ransit of coarse!!! Thanks for reminding me I will look down there today [emoji106]

  7. Even 316 is not completely rust proof and as it is almost impossible to tell them apart one has to trust the supplier or the manufacturer. In a marine environment ie on ships they don't use much stainless they use paint. Lots of paint. Sure pleasure craft like sailing boats have stainless railings etc but they need constant attention. Even stainless gates in a coastal environment require polishing every now and again.

Depending on the number required and the application CarlY you might consider dipping the screws in or spraying them with clear lacquer.

Great idea, maybe I give s quick dip in silicone [emoji106]

  8. Thanks guys very much for all these useful suggestions, I finally got 2” screws and plugs to fit them although after the screw goes through the wood the Length actually going into the wall would be just slightly over 1”, meaning the hold would be just that long which is ok considering he blocks are only the width of a bar of imperial soap lol,
But it also means that the screw only goes half way into the plugs.., hope it holds the exterior cladding at that!!

2.5” would of been better but seems none around.

I read that one of you guys found 3” at Homepro maybe they were bolts not screws? As I asked many staff who went through opening the boxes to look inside as it seems they don’t know what’s written on the boxes the same as me lol

  9. I could bet that Thais wouldn't use screws for the purpose.
Nail it would be their answer

But seriously such screws are on offer.
You have to find another source (as written above).

Home Pro has them on their online catalog.
    https://www.homepro.co.th/mproduct/37222
Why they don't have it on stock?
    Little demand.

I’ve seen this 8x 2” on lots of boxes with small screws in, I’m totally confused by this as u would of thought that 8x means 8 and 2” was in fact 2 inch but it’s not the case.. I was in home pro last night and the biggest screw was 1.5”

Globel house also has small packets and larger boxes with 8x2” written on on opening the box their was about 200x half inch screws in..

    Mind boggling!!
Been looking for 2 weeks for a big box with 2” sinker screws,...

Will try talk to the English speaking sales manager at home pro tonight .. hope she’s on or I’m screwed again !!! Lol

Couldn’t imagine a nail doing much good nailed into one of them brittle thin breeze type blocks it’s likely to smash the block into bits !

“Global House” glue was their answer I’m serious!!! lol

I really can’t believe their are no trained staff in any mega store !!

  11. Desperate for screws!!

Hi all, I seen to be in a ridiculous yet petty situation,

I bought some one inch timber lats to fasten cladding to the outside of a house on legs.., then when they delivered it a week later I went back to the large superstore store “Global House” to get some 2” inch screws but was told much to my surprise they had nothing over 1-1/2” and was told to come back in a week and their may be some on the next shipment...

one week later (which is today) I returned only to be told I had no luck as was not any, I asked how was I to fasten these timbers they sold me to the wall?

On hearing that I was led to a shelf that contained silicone, I said you have to be kidding right! but the look on his face said otherwise, he looked insulted that I was laughing uncontrollably..

I mean could u imagine me cladding a whole house using glue and one day the whole blooming lot just fell off from height it would kill someone for sure!

I have tried many small shops and large outlets including HomePro who’s screws only went up to 1-1/4” .. this is crazy stuff!!’ Anyone any ideas?!

  12.
Well said, perhaps the Brit has some chance at presenting some mitigating evidence in the form of being a victim of road rage before he then joined in and escalated things, but that is all he could have, he did what he did, and he ran someone over and attacked them with a machete.  The only people here sticking up for him are racists, plain and simple.

Maybe he only said he was British coz he didn’t want to end up in kangaroo paper as everyone in oz would know about his antics here in thai ... seems only he has stated he’s on a British passport speaking with a auzzie voice ?

  13. Hi guys I’m also British and am totally against carrying any kind of weapon at all where ever.. seem to me that the Australian bashing was premature, having said that <deleted> - did this guy think he was doing ?? Road rage is a issue all over the road and only the smart ones can figure out how best to get out of these situations this guy fell right into the ultimate trap of things “not to do” without any consideration for the safety of other let alone himself... feel sorry for his kid whom had to endure great distress . The actions of the thai guy are unacceptable given that’s what the cops are for but can understand his anger in punching this fool .. as far as the justice is concerned you can not ignore that taking the law into your own hands is right, having said that I personally believe the punch is justice in itself and the British guy would of learn for himself not to ever try that again.. BUT law justice should punish both as a result taking into consideration what has already taken place... possibly giving both a substantial fines and serious conditionally Jail time/ deportation should their be a any further events .. you think?

Yeah that seems about right, had the non immigrant O visa for 2yrs before I let the last expire due to being in uk longer than expected, got a 3 months tourist visa from uk , applied for extension in Thai in first week of being here, that was a month ago so still waiting for that to be hopefully granted a year visa before to
    Long ..

  15. He was  an actor who played a role .
Are you saying that because of a character that he played on TV, he should be given different treatment ?
What if Nasty Nick from Eastenders was in the same situation, would you suggest that his Thai Wife should not be allowed in, because Nasty Nick wasnt very nice ?

Nasty nick shouldn’t get in cos he was way to bad lol

  16. After many millions of people of uk and around the world have been entertained by the truly amazing talent of the cast of only fools n horses they now are shown zero loyalty or companion by the decision makers, seems their are no exceptions to the rules... so sad considering f the scumbags, thugs and Terrorists uk have welcomed in across the borders.. this could also reflect of more tight visas for British coming or living in Thailand to... wake up mrs May and do the "right thing"

  17. Update.. with my business almost complete in England , I'm going to Hull today to get a 3month tourist single entry to Thai, it's the quickest and cheapest visa, expected to be in Thai consulate 1hr max .. the plan is to go to bkk and get onto the year multi entry "retirement only" visa , same I've had for 2yrs until it expired coz in uk longer than expected ...

Could of gone through London but for some reason they say you to be a state pensioner of 65yrs old lol . Seems to long winded for me so I'm hoping to keep it simple..., will update

  18. Flyingfox1 you do not have a retirement VISA because there is no such thing, you either have a
long term O-A visa which will allow you the privilege, during the term of the visa, to apply for an
extension of your permission to stay on the grounds of retirement, or you already have an extension
of your permission to stay on the grounds of retirement, it is not a VISA. This is often called a
retirement extension not a retirement visa. If either have lapsed or expired you will have to start
the whole procedure all over again.
If your current permission to stay was originally based on a non "O" 90 day then it expired long ago
but your extension can be renewed annually, if you remember to do it.

Hi there , thank you to everyone for their inputs into this, what makes the system a bit more complicated is that the visas and the rules vary quite a bit between different places, for example in the uk seems to be 1-3months tourist visas are easy got whereas the 12months is only available via London the retirement visa you need to be over 65yrs and proof of state Benifit etc is needed. I did originally start out with a tourist visa and converted it in bkk to a non-imm valid 12 months multi entry, the immigration office stamped it "retirement" which of course means I can not actually work in Thailand.

After talking to the Thai consulate they advised me to travel back on a 3 month tourist visa and change it the same as before to a year multiple entry visa, for reasons of retirement, this visa is not available outside of Thailand I believe, it's certainly not in the UK.

Thx again for all inputs will post updates

  19. You will probably need to obtain a non-OA visa from the Embassy - or, alternatively, a non-O visa if you are in receipt of the State Pension (although you will need to obtain a fresh letter from the DWP as proof of this this if your most recent one is still languishing in some drawer out here).

Alternatively you could obtain a single-entry tourist visa and convert this to a non-O at your local immigration office once back in Thailand. But under no circumstances should you plan on the basis of having your passport stamped for the standard 30 days upon arrival back in Thailand prior to the non-O conversion since you will almost certainly be denied permission to board your return flight at check-in, in the absence of an onward flight ticket ticket out of Thailand within this period.

Hi , i have a non-O retirement visa , was valid 1yr multi entry, I was in U.K. Longer than expected and just noticed it expired on 6th July (3days ago)

I have the required money in a thai bank to meet the Thai visa requirements..

Could I get a new retirement none-o visa issued in England?
