  1. Why care? It is art by an famous artist! There is no like or not like on art! If you feel something, then the artist did his job. Is the statue relevant for who it is symbolizing?
  2. Like a candle in the wind! Still a long way to be remembered as a great nation builder. Empires in the world History! https://archive.globalpolicy.org/component/content/article/155-history/25992-empires-in-world-history.html
  3. Sometimes, but excuse me, Im Norwegian
  4. I always ask if its okay, even Im first one in the gym, and always turn down if I play laud
  5. Do you ever feel alone?
  6. I Have experience with The Company man for Esso from Texas on several exploration wells in Norway. I could say alot about that, but again that was typical american represent on site, and I could say alot about many other nationalities, but no other disrespected another Superviser's experience and knownledge more than American company men. First time I met him was in the Gym, and I asked if It was okay I put on some music,, and he said yes, but if you put on some nigga music, I will kill you!
  7. Texas used to be called Mexican Texas because it originally was in Mexico! Therefor Texas might have a different signature culture than the other states, as Minnesota have many citizens who still speak old Norwegian language, dress in old National folk dress and eat typical old norwegian dishes.
  8. Common for most countries, be it German, English, Irish, or Norwegians who I find all loud when together with their own, but Americans have a tendency to stick out in a mixed group. My experience. Finnish people the country of few words and as a tourist destination operator, the best customers!
  9. You mean Mexican Texas?
  10. At least if some American's could swallow their pride and admit Obama was a president to be proud of, but I really do not expect that will ever happen! Trump and Biden have been a downhill since then!
  11. Testing and trying 5 vpn providers and the best out the top ranked and recommended is ExpressVpn for my purpose, but also the most expensive one. I asked for a promo via chat, and got one coupon from them without any questions. Still the most expensive offer I got. NordVpn second best in my opinion! https://www.expressvpn.com/
  12. Father son and brother brother relationships is not always easy, but there is a time where you have to put all the hard feelings behind you, and forgive if not they forgive you. Just for our own peace of mind. It can be a good idea to say it face to face also, just to get it out of your system before to late.
  13. If so, it means you still have a house or flat back in Uk? My life cost the same here as back in my country, except here I travel 3 times as much and my basic costs include family expenses is cut half in comparison If lived alone in Norway. A western lifestyle is expensive in Thailand, and Vietnam would had been a cheaper option if that was the most important. My expenses traveling back home is due to work, so not really a cost.
  14. In both ends I start to create a colored image of the reality if Im stuck for awhile, thats why it is for some good to keep both ends open.
  15. My real family is my mom, father, brother and sister, who Im still in contact with, and now I have a wife in Thailand. I had a fiancee, and also was married but no kids on my own, so I do not carry any negative feelings to anyone in previous life. Im actually feeling quite blessed, not because I did not struggle in my life because I did struggle, and I crash economically in 1990, 2008 and 2020, where I had to restart. Lucky I had learned something when covid hit, and had more secured business I could jump off without loosing to much. Being able to think positive and restart without negative feeling about past is the most essential quality, no matter who or where you are and to many just another cliche I guess. The question is, why do they not want to acknowledge their father? Complicated for both parts I guess to admit any wrongdoing, or trying to solve the problems especially when the distance between them, is physically great when one part living in Us and the other part in Thailand. We all have some issues with our families at some point in life
  16. Maybe it boils down to what interests you have and where you get most value for your money? Every country have its qualities, and for some Pattaya or Patong was what got them in the first place, and now it is all over. Nothing will be the same again. For me it was the fearless life doing outdoor sports, and now Im done, no interest of diving around dead corrals or overcrowded see full of snorkelers and wannabe divers. Just to give a reference. What Thailand offers on the touring side with motorbike is what kept me here until I settled and got married. So now I have a good reason to stay.
  17. I could not survive in Vietnam or Cambodia, but Philippines and Malaysia I could live if not Thailand. Indonesia I have not been yet or Bali.
  18. Thats also true, after covid and came back home for first time after almost 3 years, I got the same feeling, but it is still the place where my family live, where I was born, where I have alot of good memories, and where I have created my life so I can live here in Thailand.
  19. I believe Thailand is a good place to live, but it will never be like Home, or a place you feel you belong 100% no matter how good wife, family or nice house, farm or apartment you got. We will always be a farang, or the farang.
  20. It takes a bit more than just guys with guns and ammo. Of course they can create hell locally, but without leaders, structure and discipline as well logistics they got nothing no matter how big they would manage to grow. Where to hide in Us? But if a x president would be re-elected, and start changing the system then there will be a problem, but not much resistance. It will happen quicker than you would know, and those right wings would protect and back every move he did. No doubt
  21. Some of those I meet (younger) have like 12-18 days and add flexible days on top of that. Often works 12-16 hours a day or a flat out 48 hour week. Edit note for less money than 200k a year.
  22. And making usd 200k a year, how many leave days a year do you have in average being employed?
  23. Being from Norway, I can say the same, and I have spent a few years in Usa in several states to base my opinion on it, as well 25 or so other countries visited longer than just a holiday. Both for work and sports. As long you are born at the right side in Usa, you got good chances, but in Norway (nordic countries included Iceland), It doesnt matter where you come from, or who your parents is, you have equal chances to be what you want in life, and everyone have social security no matter what you do or what you are. The american way is not for everyone
  24. Sabai sabai life is slow but good, have time for everything!
