My experience meeting up with the lads who drink more frequently than me, is after a few drinks, they ending up on the same conversations as last time we where there, same politics, cultural differences between the west and asia (basically how stupid thais is) and last but not least of course solving world problems, and that means all of them. In the meantime I ride another interesting route, went to an Island, offshore for work, planted new crops and hope they will survive, but I just cant talk about that. That is so far from their reality and not interesting at all. When did people talk about the last book they read to their friends? Nobody do that anymore, not even talk about movies, I mean good quality movies, As long I keep up with football\soccer teams I have something to talk about for a few minutes, but not really my sport. Drinking and socilizing I find very shallow to be earnest.

I agree to drink moderate, but Im not happy to be part of the kind of socializing drinking requires for some or I would say most, because it is always alchohol involved when people going to meet up. Me and my wife enjoy alchohol when travelling. To release stress I have other methods, and no alcohol needed.

Popular mostly for men and ladies of the night! No normal women had access to bars for more than 60 years or so? Nightclubs and restaurants yes, but,,,,,,

Socialize doesnt mean men hunting women on hiking trips, it means getting together and share moments, and then maybe someone gets together. To many cave men around, so go figure why women need women groups only ????

It is more a meeting point after you start meeting the same people, especially if you have specific hours and days you work out. It doesnt happens over night, but be patient. Especially one gym in soi 88 in Hua Hin was a good meeting point with a protein/fruit shake bar and also a restaurant. Also had rumba, yoga, spinning classes. Many girls working out there to with weights.

Do not want a lady who drink tequila 5 days a week, god sake man ????

Gym, when I worked onshore, I was at the gym 6 days a week at least two hours each time. Also travelled doing sports meeting people world wide during doing what you loved!

And the most important is enough good sex! My two cents

I do not have patience with drunk people, neither gossip. But when drinking I prefer to be what I do not like to be among sober! And then get seriously hangover the day after ro remind to not drink anymore.

The main problem is, the older you get, the less alcohol you should drink to keep fit and stay virile. Well, however, when I loose it or if I loose it before I die, I will start drink to.

Thats the truth, going out and be the only sober one is not funny! Neither going out with a girl who is drinking and you are not! So when Im dating, or dated, I always let the lady order first ????

Personally I drink very little to nothing! Just an general observation!

Not really judgemental, I just refered to his reply saying he did not meet many wealthy retired expats in Thailand, and my experience travelling around, those I meet, and those I talk to when having a beer, and willing to talk, is those local foreigners who live there, and frequently visit the bar we meet. Thats why we can get an impression about how things are! But of course doesnt need to be a truth.

Its more about the leads them away, than they can not fly up, and less food up there that attracts them than below ???? Also less water to breed on in the hight.

When sitting outside I use a fan or mosquito coils, and if traveling I also use mosquito spray on my legs and neck. I use linen pants and shirth, and seems to help. Where I come from, it have never been a culture to socialize in bars, except from getting drunk a few times a year or month, of course more frequently when younger. We socialize other places and doing things, sports, travelling, hiking, or restaurants, and even home. In some expat communities it seems more common to hang out at their favorite pub/bar
