You cant remember the 3,500,000 unemployed in the early eighties.....mortgage rates were very high, 15%, 13% 11%..throughout the late eighties and early nineties...poll tax then changed to council tax which meant my previous rateable  value still doubled. As for the sale of social/council housing, it may well have enriched a few but inflicted on the life of generations

The disastrous legacy of the labour years in the 70's of strikes, 4 day weeks, powers cuts, inflation and dead bodies left un burried did take a few years to sort out, but she did it bless her. Right to buy enriched millions of working class people who the socialists would prefer to have been kept poor- Baroness Thatcher the best post war prime minister, so far.

  2. If you buy online they have 3 time slots to pick from, the last being 3-6 PM. This is the one I chose as meant to go out early with the mrs and be back at noon. As it happened did not leave with her which was just as well because the van came to deliver before 8.30 AM. No mention of being over 6 hours early, obviously the time slots mean nothing so they must be turning up with nobody in quite often, expected better from a company like Ikea, but it is Thailand!

common sense and correct use of English could have saved them

Some of them probably could not understand it very well. The block built for working Brits was over 90% occupied by those of foreign extraction. The reason so many could scam the authorities for over 700k was because the council did not know who was living there, despite council tax and voting register info.
